The OP must think everyone is the same.
I don't like shaved poozy, but don't go asking why do people like that over bushy ones.
Offline is still fun and there's a lot to do thanks to Parallels.
The AI will drive you nuts, but it's still satisfying.
Remember this one MAJOR point.
A lot of us started gaming when there was no online until around 1999 with NFL 2K on the Dreamcast.
Offline gaming is our roots, so some of us stick to them.

Good point.
Take out the ESPN top 10 diving CPU catch logic as well!! -
I don't understand how SDS is a joke. Silly comment.
You guys think too much.
All this content and they're a joke?
You couldn't be more disrespectful -
Isn't that why it's called 'Pinpoint?'

The OP is right.
Showdown seems rigged in some way.
Some parts are cake, some are just ridiculous.
I know some have beaten the whole thing, but
some things i experienced are just outrageous.
I wish people would stop calling other users
crybabies. Maybe you're just better at push button
baseball than others.
When i go ice skating, i don't call people that hold on
to the boards going slow AF and looking scared scaredy cats.Just respect someone's right to come on the forums and
express their frustrations? -
@schwizzle_nizzle said in baserunning is pure trash:
Someone explain why when I have a man on 2nd and I hit a liner into the outfield, the ball lands down the line, my runner ALWAYS slides into 3rd base even after I select him and send him home before he's even half way to 3rd base? This game is rotten trash...
What about when you have a runner on 2nd. You hit a gapper. He runs back to 2nd base....

I love this game, but playing offline, you notice some super cheap tactics to make the game harder, and it's sickening.
1)The kangaroo turf at EVERY stadium. It's as if they don't want you to get triples. The outfielder let's it go knowing it will bounce over the fence.
2)The 'passed ball/wild pitch' bait. You KNOW if you advance, you're toast. They try this a lot.
3)The unassisted DP. Usually happens at 1B, where you can NEVER pull one off, but they tried one at 3B yesterday!
4)The "closer than it should've been" play at first. I usually don't charge grounders, I pre-load the throw, but no matter the speed of your opponent, almost every play you just get the runner by a few steps. As you know, you can't see that runner until they're close to the base, so I think there's a morphing effect, where they speed up the runner, but you can't see it until said runner is crossing the bag.
5)The nonchalant outfield throw. You can have a 90+ arm outfielder out there, but at times, you'll see them let up a bit to give the A.I. runner an extra step. Sort of a subtle double-clutch. A guy with 48 speed should not score fairly easy from 2nd BASE vs. a Diamond fielding OF.
6)The perfectly played carom off the outfield wall. Even though they're the ROAD team, they seem to know exactly where to be for that perfect carom off the wall at a stadium they rarely play at!
7)Pickoffs. You can never get one, but they always seem to get you, which leads into....
8)Rundowns. You can NEVER win one, although I did once recently. The animations in these are awful. No matter how you delay your run back, they always catch you.
9)Destroy the CPU, they trot out the Sinkerballers! So many times I've had big innings only to score nada the next because they bring in pitchers with the OP pitch in the game.
10) Assisted baserunning. How many times has my runner at 2nd froze even though a ball is clearly going to split the outfielders. Run, MF!!!There may be others I can't think of, bored here at work.
I see why many only play Online. If I could hit consistently, I'd be there. I'm also terrible at baserunning.
I guess this means the game engine needs an overhaul, or we need a competing baseball game.
It's like they insult your baseball intelligence. -

What in the world is up with the doves or whatever bird they appear to be circling in CF like a dang halo? It’s driving me nuts and depending the field and timing of the pitcher, makes it hard to pick up the baseball occasionally.
Randy Johnson knew what to do......

I'm not a casual because I play 98% offline, bub.
I'm as hardcore a baseball person as anybody.
Don't even go there, putting people down if they play on All-Star.
Online play didn't start until 1999. I was playing Hockey, Baseball, and Football videogames before 1999, so I DONT NEED to prove myself against other humans!
You guys act like you can play in MLB because you're good at push-button sports games. Give me a f-ing break.
And yeah, the lineups ARE going well for me as I've never used so many players and lineups this year....offline.
I'm proud to be the #1 offline player anyway, because that's how I started! -
You crave Showdowns?
You must like cold White Castles -

He hit a nuke on his first swing, then in the next inning he promptly overran an easy pop foul (even though he was firmly in the blue).
So it’s exactly how I remember 1993 and 1994. Thank you, SDS.
Did he pop a Nugenix in the on deck circle? 🤪

I was lucky and blessed to be old enough during this era. Surreal!
I was working at Burger King in Times Square (Not there anymore)
I was in the grill area during Game 6. I had my small radio. I was scheduled to be off for game 7. Problem was, it looked like we'd lose the WS in 6.
I just sat down on the floor with my radio. It was eerily quiet in the grill area, because the place was kind of packed because you know TS. Always filled with tourists & regulars. I had on a really ugly BK shirt, as I remember.
Time was running out after the Dave Henderson HR. I remember no one in the place had a clue that a WS game was going on. I remember going in the dining area, looking for reactions after the Hendu HR. No one knew.
I went back to the grill area and slumped down, thinking it was over. The incredible dream season was going to be a letdown, even after escaping the Astros and Mike Scott in the NLCS.
I gave in and convinced myself that it was cool that the RedSox would be champs. Then, well you know what happened!
I remember when it was over, I ran out on the streets screaming, yelling, jumping up and down, but I'll never ever forget that while TS was packed with tourists NO ONE had a clue, so I looked stupid being the only one celebrating!
It was INCREDIBLE!!!!
Then I was off for game 7. Watched it with my younger brother that was nowhere near as hardcore a fan I was, but when the final out was recorded, we hugged.
I still have the '86 champs t-shirt today!! -

I was in a conquest game and nearly dropped my controller. When I caught it I pressed the report button by accident.
Since it is a CPU game did I just report myself??
No, you reported the cheating A.I. 🤪

This is why I won't touch it.
The hitting engine or lack there of this year is going to play a factor in this, so I don't need the aggravation. -

VH has been my favorite band since 1981 when 'Fair Warning' was released, so I'm gutted and numb.
Ironically, this weekend I was reading the Ted Templeman (Their first producer) book chapter when Ted was so impressed with Eddie that he had to sign them.
Ted also said that discovering 'Eruption' was by chance, as Ed was playing it and Ted asked 'What's that?' Ed said 'Oh, nothing,' but Ted had to get it on tape.
When Ted asked engineer Donn Landee to get that on tape, Donn said he already had tape rolling! Mindblowing stuff.
Ed even said to Ted that he could play it even better! They still got the great version we hear on the first VH groundbreaker.
I love all music, but nothing touches VH in my book. I saw them live 2 times with Sammy as I love both versions.
Ed could be moody and reclusive, but he was great and will be missed. -
I didn't go for Mantle, so i'll take the Larry Walker one. Hockey players unite!
-
Pretty self-explanatory. May you all have peace, love, and safety in the year to come.
May next year's game be the best ever. Maybe. We'll see with no more sets and seasons.
I did love '24, and appreciate what SDS is giving us. You can't please everyone, but I just wanted to say I appreciate their effort to no end. -

There is no reason to lock them until you’ve accumulated all the stats.
I also don’t understand why anyone would play DD if they never play online.
There's a lot of us. Trust me. I get a lot out of playing only the A.I.
I get nothing out of playing a human. Mainly because when i started gaming, there was no online, until Sega's NFL 2K came along. -
