Don't put all the blame on SDS. Share some with MLB.

If the game had stayed as a PS exclusive, you would have a much better product and possibly (probably) another choice of game as another company made an XBox game with an MLB license.

But SDS made the game cross-platform at MLB's demand and now has bugs for three systems to worry about.

I have to disagree with y'all.

It has little to nothing to do with 'player consent'. Although it's absolutely true that players must give consent to use their likeness, it's not the reason for the lack of face scans.

#1 SDS is not constantly sending out employees and equipment to ball parks to get the scans of all the missing players. I'm certain it's too costly and time consuming to do so. Therefore, scans are done in set locations. Which leads to ...

#2 Player apathy. They just don't care enough to make a special trip to go to SDS and get the scan done. If they were there, at the park or somewhere convenient to do so, I'm sure they would. But they aren't going to go out of their way for a vidya game.

Wow, who would have thought that face scans was such a hot button issue?

• Face scans matter to some people because the CPU generated faces are a hot mess. If they looked better, they wouldn't be so off-putting and Joe Blow wouldn't complain so much.

• MLB players have a lot less time during the regular season than they do in spring training. It's not as easy as popping on down to SDS and getting a face scan done in between the games, warmups, eating, sleeping and flying out of town. It could be apathy, it could be just no time. Who knows?

• Face scan equipment is cumbersome and costly. Employees can't just grab some stuff and head to New York to scan George Lombard because you think he's the next big thing.

• Finally, yes, SDS can not just use a player's face without consent. They still have to have the player submit to an actual scan to get the job done. There may be only a few players who actively refuse to have it done, but even the ones who would do it and just haven't done it, still need it done.

Now, can't we all just get along.

Everyone keeps asking for new features. I'd just love them to fix the bugs.

Agreed. I'm certain IRL there are trade negotiations that take several days of back and forth ...

but if I offer some 20 y/o superstar for a bucket of batting practice balls and a couple used bats, GMs would be jumping all over that before I could finish the call.

Not every trade needs days to complete.

This happened to me as well.

As soon as it gives you the error and deletes your save, you immediately need to go to settings and use the 'upload to the cloud' option. Then you need to completely quit and restart the game. Then, click the X button on rtts and select 'download from cloud '. At this point you should be able to save the game normally.

Unfortunately for you, your game is gone. Sorry.

but I'd bet the farm SC would get a whole lot better if they stopped allowing people to use them in online games.

I don't think it has anything to do with licenses. I think it has to do with size limitations.

This game is already bloated. 115Gb, or something like that? Adding two functional A level teams, plus the 1500+ players and stadiums, etc., would cause the game to become huge.

Maybe if they got rid of all the useless features like Storylines ... and Diamond Dynasty.

Nah. I'd rather play something like OOTP or that ilk that has an MLB license and 8 bit graphics than something that looks great but no MLB.

What is the point of giving you a 'choice'? Items are all 'no sell'. Who is going to choose more than one item from any team?

Just make it one pack, and give us ALL the items from EVERY team instead of having to open 6 packs and make 3 'choices' per pack.

This is a common response to these type of topics. However, of the plethora of players that were listed above, I would posit that less than 1% of them fall into the 'I don't want to' category.

I'd be quite certain the rest of them fall into the 'haven't got around to it' zone.

Either player apathy or SDS just not making an effort.

I'm totally with you. I don't play DD. Only Franchise/RTTS. Looking at the horrible CPU generated faces is sometime disturbing.

TBH, there are more than a handful of players I refuse to have on my team because their face is messed up.

But, I also understand the problems with getting all the scans. Could SDS make a more concerted effort to get them done in spring training? Sure, but we don't know if it's them or players being lazy/difficult.

We don't know the facts. We're all taking stabs in the dark as to what is the most possible explanation. It could be none of these things. It could be all or some of these things.

Until someone from SDS tells us exactly the process, we're all just talking out of our .. posteriors.

Someone posted a video not too long ago of a demonstration of the cheating tools used by 'players'.

The most interesting thing about the video was that the best hits often weren't 'perfect' swings. The tool would quite often swing early/late because the 'perfect' swing wasn't the best swing.

Just like in real baseball, you can hit a ball right on the screws and it go right to a fielder. And you can hit a squib that dribbles through a hole.

Much like life, baseball isn't fair.

Okay, so after much Googling, I think I have an understanding of what's going on:

MiLB players, whilst members of the MLBPA, have their own CBA. The CBA for minor league players states that rights to the player's likeness etc., are owned by the player and any use of the player's likeness has to be negotiated with the player themselves.

When the player's contract is selected by a major league team, then their rights are handled by MLBPI.

So, what this boils down to is if a player has not appeared in a MLB game, SDS must work out a deal with them. Once the player has appeared in a game, then SDS can use an image or likeness of the player they have retained.

Thus, it is possible SDS has a trove of face scans they collected in spring training, but are unable to use them until the player is on a 26 man MLB roster.

I know this doesn't explain all the young players, but it does explain some of them.

I'm not aware of any kind of "priority list" as to the order players are processed and put into the game in, and if one does exist, I'm not privy to it.

What I can say is that we don't "purposely withhold" players. There wouldn't be any reason for that. The team goes through their processes and puts the players into the game, simple as that.
