    Against the computer. The Show plays fine against the computer. We're playing a different game, basically.

    @Talkingben9558_XBL

    Hahahahahaha, under what grounds? You have to do permanent ban worthy things to get a permanent ban. Listing facts about this game and wanting it to be better is not ban worthy.

    "They should add alternates for create a uniform." (banned) LOL

    You haven't played any Ranked Seasons games this year, so it's easy to be unaffected.

    Any thoughts on my other points?

    @SaveFarris_PSN

    Sleeve patches, we agree.

    Blowing up the game, why not? Did you read my other points? I think I included about 15 of them. I'll pull a few for you and ask some questions.

    1. Do you think the pickoff mechanic needs to stay as is / has no room for improvement?

    2. How do you feel about the hits to home runs ratio? I mentioned it has both hurt me and benefitted me. I won a game yesterday by getting 4 hits (all 4 were home runs) in the first 2-3 innings. My opponent put 3 on me early, then got fed up and quit after my 4th hit was a home run. I pulled real game data from the MLB this year and compared those box scores to The Show box scores. What's your stance here? Because The Show has a far higher percentage of bombs than the real enchilada.

    3. How about updates to the game itself? Do you think there's a lot being added every year and all facets of the game are getting love and attention? Or does it seem heavily skewed towards Diamond Dynasty / money generating modes?

    I don't want to overwhelm you with questions, so I'll stick to those 3. Also, if you don't mind, I'd love to know how many Ranked Seasons games you've played this year. I don't care about your record, just total games.

    Maybe I misunderstood your last sentence. Other than the sleeve patches, you're saying every single one of my points is coming from a place of "I'm angry I just lost?" Can you double check and get back to me on this? I think you might be operating with some faulty information. Also, what about the people echoing my sentiments?

    It evolved into giving players the option to avoid playing people using Strikezone. Willing and able to evolve. Open minded and almost excited to have my mind changed. But yourself and others haven't given me a lot to ruminate over.

    Might I suggest only replying to me if you have something new to add? I'm well aware of your reading comprehension levels, you don't have to keep reminding me.

    @dap1234567890_PSN

    My posts get locked because I respond to everyone. Then it looks like things are out of control. This is the first time you've provided me with any kind of data and lived experiences. It seems like the boards have a history of soft and inconsistent rule enforcement / banning players. I encourage you, keep an open mind and read the list I wrote up in the last thread. I think what I'm saying is plenty fair and deserving of a fair and articulate response... even if you still find yourself disagreeing with everything.

    @x-814-x-MAFIA-x_PSN

    You play to relax, but frequent the boards? This seems like a place for hardcore players. And just because you don't care, doesn't mean other people don't. I would LOVE to be like you, where nothing matters and I accept any old thing. However, I'm not wired that way. I love baseball and often times I don't recognize it when I play The Show. To me, it feels like having no baseball at all. You probably won't understand where I'm coming from, as that's been a pretty consistent theme.

    In fact, I haven't been playing College Football 26, because I can't get over how inflated and unrealistic my defensive stats are to everyone else in college football. Each year my DE breaks tackle for loss and sack records and wins all the awards associated with the position. Doesn't matter if I'm Ohio State or Coastal Carolina. It's a simple, simple thing, probably silly to a lot of people... but for me it hurts the immersion and darn near ruins the game.

    Here's what it is: I've seen The Show be good. I've seen Madden be good. (That's been years, obviously) To be honest, until my friends insisted I get one, I was going to skip PS5 altogether. Sure, it might be more powerful... but what does it matter with lazy, greedy and unskilled game developers? So when I see the game's being bogged down by the simplest of things that weren't even issues in the PS2/PS3 days, it's really irritating to see. Your solution is to not care about anything, just like you do. It's like making an extrovert an introvert. I am not the only one thinking what I'm thinking nor am I the only one saying what I'm saying. It's NBA 2K too (and Madden... if I got into NHL, I'm sure it would be the same thing with them too) RNG and game scripting is a sports video game trend that needs to go away and never come back (unless it's NBA Jam)

    @Melkezidek_XBL

    People would swear I'm the only one saying these things lol.

    @x-814-x-MAFIA-x_PSN

    If I'm wrong on everything then why don't you fill everyone in on the real numbers? Surely you're at 100+ ranked seasons games.

    @dap1234567890_PSN

    Missed you, my boy! Your bad takes have become a tradition. I haven't attacked anybody since my first suspension. Wouldn't I have gotten suspended again if I were attacking people?

    @Talkingben9558_XBL

    Another way to word that is "When will this guy just accept being silenced?"

    @Dolenz_PSN

    I don't share the blame. Maybe initially, but not now. I've revamped the way I post and have been articulate and fair when I criticize this game. It's not just when something goes wrong. I have pointed out situations where I'm the one the RNG is rewarding. I have given examples both of my own experiences and real world data. The responses I receive aren't any of those things. And then come to find out many of them are not speaking from experience. You are correct with the last part of your post.

    @SavageSteve74_PSN

    I appreciate you once again, but my only concern is the game getting fixed. I don't want to get into it with you, because you're incorrect with the "personal attacks" part. I ask once again, if I have been making personal attacks, where's my suspension? Me looking someone's online game stats up is not bullying, nor stalker-ish. You're diluting the meaning of those words. That information is easily accessible. What I was pointing out was the sample size of how much someone has played this game. I never even mentioned wins and losses. But hey, I got people who barely play telling me (someone who has played over 150 games of ranked head to head) that I don't know what I'm talking about. What does that make them?

    I have changed the way I word my posts and replies. If you look at my interactions with people who give me well thought out and respectful replies, you'll see exactly who I am. Fact is, a lot of people are unhappy with this game. A lot of people were unhappy with Madden. If you don't articulate your grievances, how are things supposed to improve? A lot of these guys don't know it, but they're contributing to this game being Madden Baseball. I play this game a lot every time I buy it. I would be better off not buying it at all, save me time and irritation... but I like baseball, sue me. I play so much, I see re-occurring themes. So when I make the lists I make, it's backed up by experience and hundreds of hours of gameplay.

    There were plenty of people who backed up what I was saying... so I'm not exactly isolated on this message board. But man, honestly, I do appreciate the meaning behind your post. You seem like a good dude overall. Your post wasn't perfect, definitely some things you were wrong about that needed addressed, but I still have a soft spot for you. Don't lose that good quality.

    @allday9128_PSN

    Plenty of people read my last post and agreed with it. Strikezone wasn't brought up either. Sorry about your aversion to reading. You're really missing out on the Harry Potter books.

  • The Silencing Continues / People Blindly Defending A Heavily Flawed Game
  • Squid_Adams_MLBTSS Squid_Adams_MLBTS

    The topic I started, that was getting some positive traction until it was hijacked (again) by the usual suspects, has once again been locked. SDS is doing all they can to silence me. I'm not breaking any rules and while I hate to play the victim, there are a select few people on this board who are getting away with bullying/silencing myself and others who call the game on its flaws. Rather than talk about the subject at hand, the same people come in and get us off topic until a moderator locks the topic.

    I laid out points which many people agreed with and no response to the contrary addressed any of the points I talked about, just came by to tell us we were full of it without explaining why. Then I did a little research. I found out the people who refuted me the hardest weren't even playing ranked seasons. Before I could respond to the 3rd guy, the topic was locked without warning. These people have too much power. Hijack the subjects they don't like and get it shut down. Then I have to create the topic all over again. So here's my response to @x-814-x-MAFIA-x_PSN .... because my threads deserve to be seen and talked about.

    @x-814-x-MAFIA-x_PSN

    Would you like to tell us something, @x-814-x-MAFIA-x_PSN ?

    Also, for those curious, here's his online sample info:

    476 games vs the computer
    276 battle royale games
    0 ranked head to head games

    So here's what I'll say. You have more credibility than the other two (though you seem to be telling us that you're also @fubar2k7_PSN ) however, Battle Royale is a 3-inning game and, along with events, plays differently than a proper 9 inning head to head match. The 3 inning game is obviously designed to get players in and out much quicker... so by design, pitchers have lower stamina ratings, which boosts hitting ratings. It's not really comparable to what myself and the other Head to Head people are talking about. In fact, I think if I played exclusively Battle Royale and Events, I might not be so angry with this game all the time. As it is, when I see things going on with the game that look like RNG and game scripting, it costs me a game I spent 30-60 minutes playing. If you have a game that doesn't go your way, it costs you what? 10-20 minutes?

    I honestly can't believe the people that came at me and those who agree with me the hardest are also guys who don't even play ranked seasons. You're not experiencing it, so of course what I'm saying sounds outlandish.

    @yankblan_PSN

    I'm starting to think you're on the forums more than you play the game. Honestly, no need to waste your time replying if you didn't bother reading what anyone's written. Multiple people laid it out articulately and with personal experience. I just played a 2 inning game (signed up for 9) because I put 3 runs on my opponent in quick fashion. I was hitting pitches in locations that would ordinarily be groundouts for me. I was buffed. Is it unfair of me to question my own "stellar" performance?

    EDIT: I creeped like other people did with me. This guy has played 26 games of ranked ball this year. A record of 13-13 (buff, nerf, buff, nerf anyone?) On top of that, his last two 9 inning ranked games took place on June 29 and July 26 respectively. He mainly plays the computer. And he's telling me, someone with 142 games under his belt, that I'm full of it? You gotta raise those numbers and play a couple games a day, then get back at us.

    I'd like to hear your reasons for denying people's experiences rather than what you went with, which contributed absolutely nothing to the conversation. Your comment is practically making that face Don makes when Napoleon Dynamite is performing with the Happy Hands Club.

    if game is scripted and user skill is irrelevant, I'd be winning a WHOLE lot more.

    Think of it more like an NBA referee officiating a game he bet on. Think Tim Donaghy. He can't straight up make the Lakers beat the Kings. If Shaq and Kobe can't hit the back side of a barn and the supporting cast also plays like trash, there's only so much he can do. But if they play reasonably well, Timmy D can make some foul calls here and there. Maybe at a crucial time to stop the King's momentum. Maybe get a King's player into foul trouble. Maybe put the Lakers on the line a lot more than the Kings, etc. These two things aren't 100% comparable, but I think the shoe fits.

  • Time to Blow This Game Up
  • Squid_Adams_MLBTSS Squid_Adams_MLBTS

    I've had a string of like 6 games where I experienced blatant buffing and nerfing. I can give all the scenarios, but it will be a lot to type and read. But what I experienced was the game's engine forcing me to win and forcing me to lose. I don't like either scenario. I want the game to be decided by player skill and player skill only. No randomness or inconsistency excused by the "it's how real baseball is" mantra. Is this a video game or a simulator?

    The truth is, SDS can no longer be trusted. They're just a smaller and less profitable EA that's become complacent and is churning out cut copies yearly that get progressively worse from a technical and gameplay standpoint. The last major update might have been 17? Eight years, fellas... eight years. They still want that $70 from you and then some if you're dumb enough to buy packs of cards.... but doesn't seem like they want to give us anything meaningful in return. Ignore the games issues and smokescreen players with new (but also recycled) cards, bat skins, bat flips and create a female baseball player feature. All cosmetic things to give people cheap thrills, but meanwhile players who want the best baseball game possible are left wanting more year in and year out.

    Nagging issues I've experienced recently / other reasons to blow this game up.

    1. Animations costing me hits, runs etc. I anticipate my opponent doing something and upon catching a fly or fielding a grounder. I throw home, only to see a 3 second delay between my command and my player actually throwing the ball home. Sometimes he doesn't throw it at all. I've also had players trying to beat out a throw for an infield single, only to slow up and round first like they were considering going to second.

    2. Good / perfect commands on the meter pitching system landing 2-3 feet away from my intended target. What's with this inconsistency? I hit that yellow sliver perfectly, but my pitch wasn't perfectly thrown? Sometimes it's just straight hung and hit out of the park. Am I in control of my pitches or not? Reeks of randomness.

    3. Freezing. Whether that's freeze offs (which admittedly I haven't seen a lot of this year) or my Diamond Dynasty menus stalling and having to back out of the game entirely. I've noticed an uptick in this. Must've borrowed this feature from Madden.

    4. Removing features. Madden gamers know this all too well. We went "next-gen" but then lost the ability to add our own music. PS5 was an upgrade over PS4, right? Is losing that feature an upgrade? I'm confused.

    5. Graphics and Animations. Untouched in eight years. There's like 3 slide animations and every single player slides the same exact way. Same with diving to catch a ball... and basically everything else. Animations contain very little variety.

    6. Pickoffs are pure randomness. I've taken 1 step leads with Elly De La Cruz and did not command him to steal... and on numerous occasions he's been picked off. 99 Speed, 99 Steal, 1 step lead and picked off. Meanwhile I can't even pick off Cal Raleigh with the same lead. Only time I've been able to pick players off is if they take the two step lead. So how does this feature work, exactly? I've never been clear on it and frankly I don't think SDS is either. Seems like it's pure randomness.

    7. Wonky Baserunning. Steals are random too. Why is Elly taking off perfectly on some attempts, and then stuck in mud on others? Is this another random game mechanic? Or can we actually control the player's jump? Seems random and you're just banking on your players ratings to increase your odds. Also, I've had players (unprompted) not tag up on a fly ball and get thrown out when I realized they were just going to run.

    8. Hits to Homerun Ratio / Excessive Homeruns. It's not uncommon to see a box score where 35-50% of the hits resulted in homeruns. Look at real MLB box scores and this is not something you'll see. Yet The Show likes to tout the randomness players experience in this game as "real baseball." Real baseball with an unrealistic amount of homeruns lol.

    9. No Identity. Is this a Simulation or Arcade baseball title? The homeruns suggest arcade, but then the "real baseball" randomness suggests simulation. Which is it? Trying to be both is not working.

    10. No tattoos. In 2025. No excuses here, 2K has been doing this a long time in NBA 2k (and the WWE games) Perhaps it's an issue of the money SDS has to spend on the game, but regardless, that just means we're allowing a dinky studio with all sorts of limitations make our baseball video games.

    11. Wonky Stadium Creator. Making a stadium is not easy, number one.... and even when you do make it, the game gives you all sorts of problems when you want to upload it / use it in games.

    12. Uniform creation. There's been no changes to this in years. No sleeve patches, alternate uniform options, no additional fonts, nothing. Untouched. A recurring theme with SDS.

    13. Untouched modes and aspects about the game. If it doesn't directly make them money, SDS will neglect it. They neglect a lot about this game. Uniform creation, creation options in general (logos creation tools, announce-able team names etc) , Franchise, RTTS and so on. Lazy and EA like game development.

    14. Check Swing and Umpire Inconsistency. The "real baseball" excuse again. But some games, it's so lopsided and gives one player a huge boost. Check swings are always successful for their players and not mine (or vice versa) and umpire calls are a lot more lenient or stringent from one player to the next. Real baseball, sure... but there's certain things I think that need to be omitted for video game quality of life purposes (much like they did with removing the need to warm up relievers)

    I can definitely continue going, but I think that's good for now. I'm sure the next few games I'll play will be a lot of fun... but will inevitably return to it's inconsistent nonsense that has been hindering a once beloved series. It's just Madden for baseball, now.

    I gave a 6 game sample size. I can continue to give samples as real time MLB scores come in? Also, my objection was the hits to homerun ratio.

    Yesterday's top scoring game was the Rockies vs the Indians. 25 hits and 14 runs between them. 5 homeruns. While five bombs is admittedly on the higher end, it still only makes up 20% of the hits. In a lot of games I play, homeruns make up anywhere from 35% to 50% of hits.

    WOAH! Just got done with the worst nerfing in my life. SDS straight gave this man the game. Unbelievable.... well not really, because it happens wayyyyy too often. To punish me, I guess, for last night's comeback game, this game was decided by a routine fly ball error to center field that my guy just let drop on the grass. It rolls back, runner gets to 3rd and scores. Then I was forced to hang a slider, giving up a homerun. The pitch was just fine, way down and in... but SDS put it right in his crush house. Those were my opponent's only 2 "hits." An error that should have never been an error and a BS hanger. I was using Greg Maddux btw... a pitcher known for his poor accuracy. (eye roll and sarcasm) I ended up pitching a complete game with him, and then watched every good contact / timed swing result in wet noodle physics. Not to mention the single Chipper Jones would've had, but he slowed up and started acting like he was going to round first which cause him to be out lol. I lose the game 2-1. This is becoming their legacy. SDS is no better than EA, and The Show is no better than Madden. Disgraceful.

    @TripleH-4481_PSN

    Honestly, one of the few ways to tolerate this game. Look at it as MLB Home Run Derby 25 and you're good. Games will be decided that way 95% of the time.

    Just to give another example that benefitted me. I played a guy yesterday that could NOT hit me. Then in inning 4 or 5 he rattles off 5 runs. Lots of questionable things happening. I don't have much confidence I can make up a 5 run deficit in general, let alone with 4 or 5 innings left to go. Then all of a sudden, I go from basically 0 hits to 3 long balls in an inning, followed by 2 more in the next couple innings that followed. We went to the 14th inning, neither of us seemed to be able to score. Corbin Carrol, Elly De La Cruz and PCA were all attempting steals for me like they were David Ortiz. Horrible jumps, slow running and slides where they inexplicably aren't extending their arms, reaching for the base and give the fielder more than enough time to catch a ball, reach back over his body and tag me out.

    My opponent returned to not being able to hit me and the 5 or 6 relievers I used that game shut him down. In the 14th, Bobby Witt (99 speed and stealing if I recall correctly) is thrown out stealing 3rd. It looked like I sent a runner with 55 speed. Didn't end up mattering, because I hit my 3rd (and game winning) home run with Jazz Chisolm 2 pitches later and won 6-5. I hit 6 home runs and I think I had between 6-8 hits. Sure it feels good not to be on the receiving end of this, but I'd be lying if I didn't say this was more SDS nonsense at play. They need to stop trying to control the game script in the name of "real baseball." Maybe we just need Slugfest back.
