The RNG is a way to balance out the the different methods of hitting input and to keep stats somewhat realistic.
I don’t understand why they care if stats are realistic in DD. We are already playing with unrealistic lineups.

Why does timing seem to never be consistent in RS. All other online modes seem to be consistent. I see the biggest inconsistencies once games are played on HOF.
I only notice this in RS. If I play a friend or online rated with HOF or Legend settings the timing seems consistent across the board from game to game.
But in ranked seasons...using HOF settings for example:
Game 1 - Game play feels true to what I’m seeing and how the my controller input matches up to timing windows. I have the ability to read and swing with my pci
Game 2 - High velocity pitches are next to impossible to hit unless I purposely try to swing super early. Off speed has a super slow timing window. Ability to read and swing with the PCI is nearly impossible. Basically reduces me to a guess hitter.
What’s the deal with this? Is it because of online lag? Is it a ping issue? I don’t experience this in other online modes though. A developer response would be appreciated.
Lol…they just wait for people to quit and then the servers are fine
Or because they are going multi platform...or someone took a new job...
Exit velocity boosts are where its at.
Why? I thought skill mattered lol

When an early swing without touching the ball can be a HR and 20 good timed swings dotted inside the pci can be outs it not really skill. Just a casual game. The only skill really comes down to whether a fastball zooms by with your connection or not and not swinging at low pitches out the zone unless they allow you to foul them off 10 times in a row.
I don’t know about DDA. But it’s definitely best to take it as a casual experience and hope your connection allows to see the fastballs.
This game has been downhill for awhile now gameplay wise
Probably because timing windows are smaller this year
Its sad that this is where the state of this game is right now.
@soreal35 said in Broken online hitting:
Timing issues and hitter feedback changes from game to game because of quality of connection and ping. You either adjust or you dont. Its frustrating but it is what it is.
Its always been there...but I think it stands out more this year for some reason.
@jetguy35_psn said in The DDA in this game is appalling online:
I wouldn’t question whether DDA existed if I didn’t routinely square up with good timing (many Perfects) resulting in flyouts and line outs. And then my opponent who swings at every pitch and Ks close to 20 times in a game, then hits a home run on a ball off the plate with early timing. If you don’t like the term DDA then insert whatever word you want to call it. But clearly the game is coded to aid the worse opponent in many situations.
This guy gets it. DDA is like saying Kleenex. A facial tissue is the same thing as Kleenex.
When money is involved in these games, you better believe the developer is going to do what they can to keep those dollars coming in.
Last year’s game balancing was pure stupidity and this year isn’t much better.
Think about the perks that are in showdowns. They are literally throwing it out in the open that things can be adjusted pitch to pitch.
I hit a liner off of a pitcher in an event game today and it injured him out
Isn’t it sad that it’s come down to this? That people are discussing the option to build a new baseball game on the Shows forum? I’m a for it. Take out all of the under the hood garbage and make the game play straight up.
If you get lit up by someone, so be it. At least you know why. This franchise has become pathetic. The under the hood elements get worse and worse every year.
It’s only going to get worse with them going multi platform.
Ping is likely the culprit...go to Speedtest.com and see which one is lower.
I’ve played in so many different connections across the country over the past few years and from my experience, internet speed has been less relevant than ping.

Hope they realize when they "fix" the server issue they won't know if it is truly fixed until they get the same traffic as when it crashed. When the server comes back online, most people are not waiting to get back on after prolonged downtime so the server has no where near the load.
Same thing every year…they don’t fix anything…they just hope people don’t play anymore
This is really pathetic at this point
Player ratings should affect the ease of use of a card.
Ex. Great control = big yellow bar
If your so good that you can use crappier cards... so be it. Going to be a small percent of users.
User input should be 1:1 output in online games.
Possibly...do you feel like some games 102 is manageable and other time it feels like it’s coming in at 150?
I’ve noticed this and the only thing that makes sense is latency that is affecting this game worse than it has in the past

You'd have 8000 people playing the game.
As opposed to what now because everyone I talk to says the game is boring and unrewarding. In the 22 team league im in we have gone through like 30 guys already and its not even half way though the season. That just speaks volumes to the fact the game isnt worth anyones time and no one wants to play it
If people are getting mercy ruled every game they aren't going to play. Something like 8% of the online player base plays on HoF difficulty. They can't exclusively design the game for those people.
This is before we even get started on card attributes needing to matter.
I'm not saying the game is perfect. They need to make hitting more rewarding. But making it purely skill based would be a bad idea, especially going to new platforms.
Wouldn’t this essentially make a better match making system though? People would be playing within their own skill level.
@halfbutt said in Pro Spirits 2019:
I saw some streamers playing. Apparently hitting is very difficult.
That’s intriguing...as long as “hard” is a skill thing. The randomly generated output from good input has just made the show not fun.
