XP save for next inning?

I completed the 3rd inning program a while ago. The xp that you earn after completing the 3rd inning program should be able to transfer to the 4th inning program. Why doesn’t it? You play and earn xp, but it doesn’t matter, because it is wasted xp. It should transfer over. Am I right.
