Discussion - RTTS Feature Premiere (03/02)
  • PushedSatsuma2_XBLP PushedSatsuma2_XBL

The fact that SDS advertised that as if it were worth anything is hilarious. A 14 minutes stream, half of which was dedicated to an app feature, is wildly embarrassing.

So an entire feature premier dedicated to some menu changes, a return to an older training mode, and a cutscene? Absolutely laughable and embarrassing.

@Allen342 Nah, don't get rid of it, just retool it. Let your answers influence your relationship with fans and teammates, so that it serves a purpose, and maybe don't have it proc on every PotG, but don't get rid of it outright.

RTTS is an RPG mode. More options like this to define a character are welcome.

Any and all rtts changes should start with getting rid of archtypes and returning to attribute based progression. Everything else beyond that is gravy.

Here's my idea: a game mode that actually works, and a deletion of archtypes, the only purpose of which is to link it to DD.

My suggestion: make a competent single player mode.

I guess if you can't wring money from microtransactions out of it, SDS couldn't care less. What a joke.

All I really want is the elimination of archetypes. There were several positions that were absolutely [censored] because their archetypes were just so poor compared to others.

Like, in RTTS (ignoring DD crossover, which should also just be done away with), there was basically no reason not to run Yo Adrian, no matter the position; and in fact, Yo Adrian was the only way to realistically hit 99 in at least one position, CF.

  • PushedSatsuma2_XBLP PushedSatsuma2_XBL

They said in the pre-release stream that they did this because people felt it was too strong in DD, but you know how you fix that, SDS? You don't link it to DD.

Any of them before they added archetypes and linked it to DD.

  • This game seems to favor certain pitches every year...
  • PushedSatsuma2_XBLP PushedSatsuma2_XBL

Last year in MLB21 I noticed an interesting trend. Pitchers that in prior years that threw 2-Seam fastballs suddenly all threw sinkers.

Because sinkers and two-seamers are effectively identical IRL.

This year, it seems pitchers that threw change ups now suddenly the majority all throw circle change ups.

The most common change up thrown in the MLB this season is the circle change. Again, this is how it is IRL.

  • PushedSatsuma2_XBLP PushedSatsuma2_XBL

@PriorFir4383355_XBL So is it the case then that all attributes are capped at 99? Since equipment in the past would cap attributes at 125 in-game before this year.

  • Attribute Realism for Franchise and RTTS has been uploaded to the vault
  • PushedSatsuma2_XBLP PushedSatsuma2_XBL

    Hi all,

The first iteration of Attribute Realism rosters has been posted to the vault. After it surged to great popularity last year, I figured I’d make this post and let people know that it is out again, as well as talk a bit about my process.

I’m a one-man team and I try to play favorites with teams and players as little as possible, letting the stats and math that players produce speak for themselves.

Every single player on every single roster has been edited to be more in-line with who they are as players in real life, including minor leaguers. This involves everything from changing minor league pitch mixes, to changing walk and strikeout rates across the board, to increasing steal rates and steal success, to changing contact rates and H/9s to account for an ~.240 league wide batting average. Unfortunately, you can’t just copy and paste savant pages into the game because attributes aren’t percentiles. They all have to weighed against the other stats that effect results while simming.

The goal of all of this is to produce the kinds of stats that players do in real life, and to that end, I’ve run 100 season long full simulations in franchise and RTTS to make sure that everything is as it should be.

Of course, it isn’t perfect; nothing can be. But, while other rosters often over-inflate the stats of their favorite teams and players, I’ve tried to avoid that as much as possible. The stat formula I’ve used also weighs outlier seasons less than SDS does, in order to cut through the randomness of small sample sizes. I.E., a 2024 season in which a player hit .150 against lefties in only 50 ABs should not weigh more than the three previous seasons in which they hit .300 against lefties in 450 total ABs. Baseball is random, and small sample sizes happen.

The biggest difficulty is AAA/AAAA players. The game has no real way to distinguish between players who dominate AAA and flail in the MLB—you end up with either overinflated stats to reflect minors success, or underinflated stats to reflect majors struggles. Attribute Realism splits the difference, so you won’t have career minor leaguers dominating in the majors, but you also won’t have guys who aren’t regulars at the MLB level, but are still good enough to be called up sometimes, aren’t rated 55 overalls (of which there were so, so many).

I've worried less about making sure that every 40 man roster is perfect, since those change frequently, and more about making sure that every prospect and every player that should be there is there, and that their attributes reflect their production as players.

The roster is also up-to-date with every roster move that has been made before 4/24/25. If I missed anything, please let me know, but it should be completely up-to-date.

Obviously, baseball is baseball and outliers will happen; but, the goal is to make it as close to reality as possible. It’s taken ~250 hours to do, and I hope you will all enjoy.

  • Equipment should increase your overall rating
  • PushedSatsuma2_XBLP PushedSatsuma2_XBL

Some people enjoy seeing the number. There's a massive disconnect between being a 90 overall and going into a game to see every stat above 100.

  • Deeper RTTS suggestions
  • PushedSatsuma2_XBLP PushedSatsuma2_XBL

Bring back the button that lets you toggle baserunning setting while in-game, less than zero idea about why that was removed.

Give every position at least one archetype that gets it to 99 overall--a lot of players couldn't care less about DD, but do care a lot about creating a 99 overall player. It is beyond insane that 2nd base has multiple archetypes that give 98 overall when the archetype is still gold, but center field can't get higher than 97 overall using any archetype in Show22.

To that end, if SDS insists on "balancing" CAPs for online play (and not just instituting an offline/online creator), I'd much rather have perks that significantly improve stats and equipment that only provides slight improvements, as opposed to what it was this year (perks barely boost stats while equipment boosts them a ton)--that way it still effects the in-game numbers equally, but makes RTTS feel more satisfying.

Beyond that, in no particular order: more commentary; a better batting stance creator / more stances; your own in-game baseball cards based on milestones reached would be sick; contracts mattering (even something as simple as what the early Madden games did, where you have a static image of an apartment/house that gets better the more you earn); would all be nice as well.

  • Monotony
  • PushedSatsuma2_XBLP PushedSatsuma2_XBL

Except that it really wouldn't require any effort, like, at all. It would be beyond trivially easy to code 0-100 (beginning at 50) meters for what the old 2k NBA games used to do--relationship with fans, with coaches, with teammates--and an interview room that the player got kicked to to answer a question after the game. If the game were on PC, I could make that mod in an afternoon, especially since the template is already there--you get one interview after your first hit, and one after your first homerun. The most time consuming part would be writing the questions, and even that would only take a few hours.

  • Why can't catchers be lefties?
  • PushedSatsuma2_XBLP PushedSatsuma2_XBL

@leitnerdog Probably because there hasn't been a single left-handed throwing catcher who has played in the MLB since 1989.

The fact that you can play as a lefty-catcher at a youth level has no bearing on its feasibility in the pros.

  • Has anyone gotten any of the archetypes to diamond yet?
  • PushedSatsuma2_XBLP PushedSatsuma2_XBL

@Frankdatruetank It would be much appreciated!
