    Hitting timing since last update

I've just noticed it seems like I'm getting more oppo hits (on swings that used to be fowl balls).

Yeah just look at a Conquest (or vrs CPU) game on Rook, then Vet, then AS. You'll notice more balls as you go up, but on 3/2 counts less walks as you go up. Makes sense right? What could possibly be the reasoning for Moments pitchers to consistently get you to 3 - 0, 3 - 1 counts, walking you at least half the time if not more, when so far there's only been what, one Moment so far that counted "get on base x times".

Also the community in 2021: "Waah this rookie moment is too hard!"

Seriously I don't get the whole need to flex about "I play my single player content on HOF with sliders maxed, the rest of you are fluff players" bs. Who cares what people play at for their single player stuff. I don't play MTO at Beginner anymore because I figured out a pattern to the pitches and I was scoring too many double digit runs in games, wasn't fun for me. I haven't dashboarded any Moments (yet). I also don't give a squat if other people do, and will still show those people respect on the boards.

Online gamers flexing on the board I sorta get. People gotta feel good about themselves somehow when online can be brutal, especially the modes that don't match you by rating. But what's the purpose of flexing about single player? It's just like the dudes in PvE games with a PvP option putting down the people that only play PvE.

I finally made it through Cruz (the 5 game one's suck), just did a little bit on Williams and yeah the pitching AI definitely makes it frustrating.

I don't understand why they need to change the pitching AI and then list something as "Rookie" or "Veteran". As I've played countless number of Conquest games, there is an obvious difference between the moments. Especially in the multi-game moments when you get into the last few games and am close to completion. Sure the PCI size may be at Rook or Vet, but the pitching definitely is not. 72 rating pitchers painting the corners, throwing balls just outside the zone when they're at 95 pitch count.

Overall I feel like the Moments this year are generally easier than years past. However they need to overhaul whatever they have done to the pitching AI. Let them pitch the same way they do in Conquest & vrs. CPU at the same difficulty. Quit making low 70s pitchers into Greg Maddux!

  • Why Cruz's 5-game 6xbh Moment is the worst of all time
  • P Precisionist99

Yeah I've been avoiding dashboarding this year. Previous years it was necessary because they seemed to have no clue how to balance out Moments (remember the first year of Moments after they nerfed the slider trick? sheesh).

Only reason why I didn't do the exchange is that I got the other 5 game Moment done on the 2nd try.

I got it done after I posted this (able to cool off). 1 xbh needed after 4 HRs and 1 double in the first 3 games. Somehow I was able to double off Kershaw, probably because I hit it to left-center so Betts couldn't use his jetpack.

All the xbh Moments and Missions are a problem this year. I swear this year I hit way less gappers than any previous year. If you got a player that doesn't have HR power the xbh's are hard to come by, outfielders seem waaay to fast this year not to mention diving catches happen at an unrealistic rate...and this is at Rookie to AS difficulties! I couldn't imagine this at higher difficulties...does Betts rocket up to the top deck in HOF and catch 420 footers? I'm still sitting on Stephenson with 1 xbh after like 20 something games. Might just have to hit him leadoff at Coors in a vrs CPU.

Everything looks like a change up or a breaking pitch

Finally someone speaking my language, I basically just call those people online DD casual noobs, they only care about hitting homeruns and scoring 15 runs a game and collecting cards. They basically don't care about the simulation aspect of baseball...they just want to play arcade baseball.....Like how F1 players just play online as bumper cars instead of respecting the sport and racing and making proper moves.

It also can come down to the skill level of the player. Also not all game modes are the same. MTO Rookie feels more like Conquest Veteran. vrs. CPU Rookie feels like MTO Beginner. I have won some games in vrs. CPU on All-Star. Conquest All-Star tears me to pieces.

I think all players have a sweet spot in difficulty. I started playing MTO at Beginner, figured out 75% of the pitches are center cut just high of middle, it wasn't fun anymore. Rookie & Vet make me have to be patient, so that's where I have the most fun. Played one season on Dynamic entered the playoffs at Vet+ hitting and AS pitching. Had trouble not walking batters. Offense was spotty (realistically) and I had to win a game 7 with a miracle walk-off HR to get to the WS. That was the most fun I'd had in the game because I was sooo close to actually losing the NLCS. If you or the OP play on the same difficulty and sweep every series by double digit run differential then yeah play higher, but don't put down the people who do find it a challenge.

What pci do you use on all-star or lower I use basic but have a hard time squaring up the ball any tips that is really why I made this thread I could have titled it better

I use fish eye PCI, zone hitting with guess quadrant. Pretty much what I've used ever since I started playing The Show many years ago. I guess I'm stubborn in not trying other settings. I used to always guess low and sit middle, but this year since it's actually possible to HR off a high pitch (used to be impossible in older versions) I often guess high when no one is on base. I've been practicing moving the PCI with mixed success, a lot of the time I overcompensate and hit a grounder or pop-up. That's why I don't understand how people love the modes above AS...do you just sit in one spot and wait for a pitch there? It seems humanly impossible to move the PCI to a pitch at those difficulties, especially fastballs.

Appreciate the feedback been grinding conquest and getting a little cheesed on higher difficulties but really don't have consistent timing on all star or lower I really have to sit on everything even guys like DeGrom

I have serious trouble hitting anything low 70s and below. I have my tv set on gaming mode (otherwise fastballs are impossible) but the downside to that is that the really slow pitches process faster on the screen than in the game, so you have to swing at them when they are in the catcher's glove. A 78mph curve and a 69mph curve move exactly the same on my screen. SDS really needs to do a better job reflecting speed from hand to glove.

The other issue is the "off-the-bat" speed off of slower pitches. If you square up an 89mph change it goes over the wall...do the same with an 89mph fastball and it floats harmlessly to an outfielder. I actually prefer going against higher velo pitchers in Conquest than the lower ones.

  • Why Cruz's 5-game 6xbh Moment is the worst of all time
  • P Precisionist99

So I'm figuring out you HAVE to finish this in the first 3 games because the hidden nerf-stick hits you hard in games 4 & 5. I've attempted this almost a dozen times now, every single time I have 1 or 2 xbh left going into games 4 & 5 this happens:

    1. Multiple hit-by-pitches, especially with runners on base.
    2. Multiple walks
    3. Multiple warning track hits that were HRs in the first 3 games
    4. Betts flying across the screen like Superman, making the all-time highlight reel catch of a laser hit in the gap, defying logic and physics as he somehow stays airborne (and actually accelerates) to the ball. Screw the trash-can banging scandal, Betts is using a freaken hidden jetpack.

I really hate how there's a hidden difficulty that raises in the later games of multi-game Moments.

When does season 3 drop? I love this addition to the game as I've always preferred player missions over "moments". I've been ending up bored with previous years of the game around 5th or 6th Inning because it's been all about Moments and crushing Conquest with the same god-squad diamonds over and over. I love inserting slightly suckier players now and then, and having reasons to play vrs. CPU.

I don't understand how anyone plays any game on less than max difficulty. I mean jeez every game I complete in one try blindfolded with my left hand just to make it challenging. Please worship me on these boards as I have no life.

  • Server down
  • P Precisionist99

To be fair it's been pretty stable since the daily server downs the first month of launch.

  • So many issues with rtts
  • P Precisionist99

I don't have problems with appearance but I do with equipment. I have a RP/SS combo on my universal player, playing mostly DD (he pitches in mop up) and I'll play RTTS occasionally. For some reason my equipment keeps reverting back to things I equipped weeks ago. I've got a few diamond pieces now, every once in a while I check and he's got the old gold/silver stuff equipped. It's not every piece, just things like the fielding glove and cleats.

The other thing I don't understand is that my pitcher profile in DD has never changed out of 65. I've gained stats in RTTS, I'm up to silver on the archetype, yet he's always a 65 in DD. I'm about to give up on this mode.

  • I want your opinion on the game so far.
  • P Precisionist99

8 out of 10 for me. A couple of things annoy me:

    1. Walks should count towards TB
    2. Outfielders in vrs CPU and Conquest are waaaay to fast, seems like a lot less "gappers" than previous years.
    3. Allow people to reset multiple game moments back to the first game.
    4. In person (RTTS style) baserunning is horrible this year

  • Directional hitting tip
  • P Precisionist99

First off I don't use Directional against other players (rarely play online anyways). Just trying to get the damned Dejong 8TB done.

A few years ago I seem to remember the tip being "point at your inner shoulder and press square". The problem is it's a sinkerball pitcher 3/4ths of the ABs. Should I point low? I keep getting 1 HR then warning track shots the rest of the game, or embarrassingly weak grounders.

  • Server Answers and Refunds
  • P Precisionist99

Instead of refunds or packs, they need to look at extending the 1st Inning deadline. I wonder what percentage of the player base has even reached the 1st Inning boss pack yet, or is even in the 300k range? I've logged in pretty much every day since early release (in the evenings, usually the servers are already down) and have like 120k to go. Finished all the Moments, Daily Moments, over halfway through the First Inning Conquest (the first one not the umbrella). I'm not a good enough player to have a chance at the Showdown (two tries failed miserably).

I remember '19 I was able to reach the Inning boss pack in all but the last couple (played less due to burnout), sometimes with a few days to spare. The progress there seemed pretty balanced...I hated doing Moments but there was enough other things to grind to reach the packs. This year, especially with the nightly 2 to 3 hour server outages, the boss packs feel like an impossible goal.

  • Any way to see your current Dynamic setting?
  • P Precisionist99

So I have both hitting and pitching set to Dynamic. After like a month and a half in AA with a 2 way player, I'm seriously struggling. The hitting I'm ok with, feels realistic to be slumping there occasionally. But the pitching, which I think is close to maxed out in difficulty, is downright ridiculous now. Between the fact that my stats are all in the 30s and the Dynamic difficulty maxed, I pretty much have to aim center/center to get anything in the strike zone.

Is there any place to see where the Dynamic difficulty has you set at? I know when it changes there's a popup in the lower right, but I'm usually focused elsewhere when that happens. I'd like to find a static difficulty for the pitching so that I can get somewhat realistic outcomes yet still be rewarded for perfect or close to perfect inputs.
