Go to roster and pick a team, doesn't matter which one. Demote their entire mlb team to single A and their entire single A to mlb. Then fix their lineups and pitching rotation. Save that roster.
Then from the main menu go down to exhibition. Set up a game where you are playing against the team you just edited. I played with the NL Allstars. Make sure its on rookie and TURN ON QUICK COUNTS.
Player lock on Jacob degrom (or which ever pitcher you like, but you want someone with a high k/9) and blow through the game. It takes like 15 minutes a game and you will get 4500k xp. Rinse and repeat.
You don't have to player lock the starting pitcher everytime. Sometimes I would play the whole game and bat too. It will double the time but also double the xp you get per game.
Don't get greedy and keep restarting the game without exiting because you will lose all your XP if the servers go down.
