    This isn’t baseball
  • MLBarf_PSNM MLBarf_PSN

Just faced Alex Reyes for 7 innings, Kluber for the 8th and closes with Newhouser. Not sure why SDS is so concerned about tweaking the hitting timing window to be make hitting averages more life like when they permit this type of shenanigans.

Add to it these unrealistic diamond future star and prospect cards - how do they even come up with attributes for these guys? Is somebody really going to start Nolan Jones over Mike Schmidt in real life?

This isn’t baseball this is a sad sad joke.

  • Teach me how to hit a fastball
  • MLBarf_PSNM MLBarf_PSN

Yowzers, knew it was coming high and inside and could not hit it. Struck out 15 times vs diamond Nolan Ryan. I’m mediocre at the best of times but wow talk about frustrating. Don’t blame the guy for spamming high and tight fastballs - but just couldn’t hit it. Guess these old eyes just can’t keep up anymore....maybe SDS might consider making an old man’s softball league video game?

  • Game is not fun anymore
  • MLBarf_PSNM MLBarf_PSN

This is getting ridiculous. I just played 9 innings and the guy beat me 5-0 despite almost every batter putting a ball in play with at least good timing and the ball was right in the centre pci. He hit a 2 run homer with Walter Johnson on an early swing, and I hit a a ball middle up in the pci with tatis and it was a flyout. Almost all of his hits were weak little bloopers and he managed to score 5 runs doing that, but all my contact was good timing right in the pci and I just got robbed on every single hit. The input is not matching output at all. Just ridiculous.

  • Player Quirk Ideas
  • MLBarf_PSNM MLBarf_PSN

Hi all, just been thinking about a couple new player quirk ideas and thought I’d start a thread - maybe we gain some traction with the devs!

Here’s my 2 ideas for now:

SUPER UTILITY - no (or reduced) secondary position penalty - this would be given to players that meet some threshold of games at secondary positions throughout their career/seasons. Ex. The new TA Chris Taylor could have this because this season he has 42 games at 2B and 42 in CF with pretty balanced splits over his career at SS as well.

TWO-WAY - basically just a quirk for Shohei Ohtani that allows us to move him to the outfield after he pitches - I realize that would probably require a bunch of new coding/programming that’s fairly specific to Ohtani though.

P.S. Starting a movement to have ‘22’s game called “MLB The Sho 22” with Ohtani as the cover athlete.

Is this what this has become? Closing pitchers starting, Starting pitchers closing....this isn’t baseball .... oh yeah this isn’t baseball this is a video game!

  • Game is not fun anymore
  • MLBarf_PSNM MLBarf_PSN

Just played another one, had a ton of good good, or perfect perfect hits and most of them didn't drop, I hit 3 homers (all perfect perfects) and was leading 3-4 in the bottom of the ninth and he hit a homer on an early swing in the bottom of the ninth on a 100 mph fastball below the zone, but of course it's a no doubt bomb. Hitting and pitching is seriously broken right now, I cannot win two games in a row despite how good my hitting or pitching is because [censored] like this always happens, they get ridiculous hits to drop that are very late or very early and not remotely in the centre of the pci, and I'm all over the ball and nothing goes my way. The game is so incredibly frustrating because it's not even about having good input anymore.

  • Should I sell Trea
  • MLBarf_PSNM MLBarf_PSN

Trea Turner is the most fun player in baseball according to statistics (see video linked below). I think the same applies to his Finest Card in this game. Dude plays stellar defence at 2nd base (gets to those pesky balls up the middle that my pitchers never stop), has the same sweet swing as always but now with better stats, and he FLIES. He's incredible.

Grinding this right now, jeez man. Literally everyone I play has a .750 win PCT or higher. Save for a couple. So sweaty. 5 more wins to go.

you got it man, and Trea is definitely worth it. I haven't played online with him yet but going back to grind out conquest he hit 2 HR on his first two pitches seen, yes it was vs cpu on all star, but just absolutely crushed the ball.

If it’s Ohtani it would be a sin to not name 22’s game MLB The Sho 22

  • Felipe Vazquez
  • MLBarf_PSNM MLBarf_PSN

Whenever an opponent brings him in against me I forfeit the game - don’t care if I take the loss....down right despicable that somebody would use him after what he has done

  • Pitching problems?
  • MLBarf_PSNM MLBarf_PSN

Similar experience in an Event game - Hershiser pitching, use pure analog Hershiser starts wind up and meter disappears

  • Matching opponents
  • MLBarf_PSNM MLBarf_PSN

I’ll start by saying I know I’m not good at this game, but matching me with players that have reached Prestige status or that have World Series banners is disheartening. I‘m not one to quit - I’ll play and get crushed but it sure takes the fun out of it.

You would think that the matching system could compare online batting averages before matching people up? Speaking for myself it sure would make it more enjoyable for me - knowing I might have a fighting chance before the game starts.

  • Playing the ball on the hop in the outfield
  • MLBarf_PSNM MLBarf_PSN

Simply evidence that player input really doesn’t matter. RNG has determined that it will be a single - so doesn’t matter at all what how the player approaches the ball. Sometimes it is like playing Strat 0 Matic - roll the dice and determine the outcome

  • If it wasn't for the auto-shift

@raesONE said in If it wasn't for the auto-shift:

I would be batting .450 or higher. That's not even an exaggeration. I absolutely hate the fact that the auto-shift is turned on by default. Using a shift, or not, is a strategic decision and should be user controlled at all times.

If you lack the presence of mind to put on a shift in a specific situation, or if you're simply too lazy to do the defensive adjustments, I feel like you should be burned by those balls through the infield holes every single time. But now, the game bails you out by putting an auto-shift on basically 80% of the players in the game, making those well hit pulled balls into the shift ot lasers up the middle automatic outs. Those are great at bats with great swings being outs while my opponent did absolutely nothing for it. Another fine example of lowering the skill gap.

No you wouldn’t be hitting .450 or higher.. trust me the game would still make the ball go right to one of the fielders no matter where they are standing lol.

I concur....with RNG...the determination as to whether it was a hit or not was made long before the hard hit grounder or line drive was fielded by the 2nd baseman playing short right field.

In my last five Ranked games, all on HoF, I’ve played 51 innings, collected just 31 hits and 8 runs. In one of the games I had three runs, so the other five runs are spread over 4 games.

I read this post and saw 31 hits in 51 innings and thought you were making fun of the players who complain about how hard the game is. I think I’ve got 31 hits in my last 200 innings, mostly on all star despite solid PCI placement and timing on a majority of my swings.

Another idea: how about a category for where the players are born? Then we could have all-time teams from certain states, etc.

You can do this on ShowZone.io - not perfect, but a solution. You can also filter by quirks and specific stats.
