Still not fixed. Is there a formal bug reporting system other than hoping somebody from SDS reads your post on the community forums?

@hornetswin_PSN Yep. I thought it was fixed for baserunning but heard the wrong name again today so clearly not fixed. Such a lazy bug and the fact that the game has been out for 3 months and this still exists is ridiculous. They were aware of the bug enough to fix it for hitting but didn' t think to test it for fielding or baserunning?

People do not know and/or appreciate enough, how good a baseball game we are dealing with MLBTS25
True but the franchise is actually regressing which is the problem. The game shouldn't be worse today than it was 4 years ago.

@peaturtle_PSN The removing of features is the part that I don't understand. The game engine is basically the same so there should be no need to be pulling out features but they seem to do it every year. And the features they put into the game seem to be a waste of development hours. I don't think I've heard anything positive about ambush hitting but that was one of their exciting new features.
Offline players really don't have any reason to upgrade any longer. Every year we get the same lip service about improved trade and progression logic but it never changes. They tout regression as progress. E.g the new free agent process is cumbersome and they removed front/back loaded contract options. Gameplay continues to decline every year.
Go back and play Franchise in 21 and you'll wonder why so many cool features were removed from the game. As many have said, it seems clear the developers of this game have little interest in real baseball, only the card collecting fantasy world of DD. And sadly that means offline players will continue to be left in the dark.

@NiteLordz_PSN I've edited Morales on the Nats with a custom name and it's continuing to use the Morales audio whenever I catch a ball in the field. It used to be an issue with hitting and baserunning as well. Those did get fixed but the fielding issue remains.

Bumping this since it's June and the game is still saying the original name for edited players when in the field. @SDS_JoeK_PSN

It's not one of the worst games ever but I've been playing since 23 and this is easily the worst of the three MLBTS that I've played. I'm exclusively an offline player and the attention to detail is sorely lacking in so many areas. I shouldn't constantly be wondering if the developers ever play the game they've created. I gave up on 25 a couple of weeks ago and went back to playing franchise in 23. I'm having fun in 23 again but it has shown how much this game has regressed over the past couple of years. Unfortunately, I don't have faith that SDS even cares at this point, especially for the offline modes.

Also, they still haven't fixed the announcer calling the wrong last name in the field when you edit an existing player. Pretty sure they're using AI to code this game at this point.

Or the ace of the Red Sox, Garrett Crochet, who is in his 6th year in the league.

I’ve hopped on past iterations of the game including 21, 22 and 23 and they all felt leagues better gameplay wise.
I went back to playing 23 and couldn't agree with this more. 25 looks great but it was kind of shocking how much the game has slipped in terms of gameplay over the past couple of years.

agreed with everything you said. Grinding this year is a big problem and slow. They nerf the hell out of mini seasons. Pitching is a mess you either getting dotting to death or walk to death. Hitting is randomly as hell to. Rookie plays like all star, veteran plays like rookie, hall of fame plays like all star, legend play like Goat, and Goat plays like legend this is all offline playing. And cpu can go from hitting like a toddler and the next minute plays like a top 10 player with eyes of an eagle.
THIS!!! This this this! Especially that last sentence! The CPU is never consistent even though I select the same difficulty every time!
Exactly. The levels are never consistent enough to know which level you should be playing at. One day you're hitting everything regardless of the quality of your AB and the next you can't get a hit to save your life. On the same level. I assume it's due to RNG scripting which makes the game way too streaky in either direction. Defenders always say "that's baseball" but it's really not. Clearly missing on a swing and hitting a home run is not baseball. It's either an out or a weak popup/grounder. Lining up the PCI and timing perfectly on a ball right down the middle shouldn't lead to a weak fly out. In real life, if you put a perfect swing on a ball you don't suddenly have half of your power zapped to follow the script that has been set for you. It's those moments that drive me insane. The complete helplessness that my input has zero bearing on the result of the AB and I'm just along for the ride that the game has scripted for me.
For the majority of situations, the game is great and plays true to reality but those clearly scripted portions make no sense to me. I feel like if they just made the good ABs productive and the bad ABs unproductive, everything would even out in the end, as in real life. If someone is so good that they are still hitting .500 on GOAT level then maybe start dropping some script on them to keep their stats in check, or just keep making GOAT harder.
I think in the end all we really want is a game that rewards user input. If I want to hit .400 and hit 80 HRs on Veteran, let that be a thing. If I want a more realistic experience I can move up a level or two but ultimately I want the difficulty of the level vs my ability to be the deciding factor of every AB, not some clearly artificial script that the developers have put in place. Make rookie easy and each subsequent level incrementally harder, and make the difficultly solely reliant on the pitch quality and not some script. If you want to mimic a player in a cold streak, make the PCI smaller or something but stop with making it impossible to get a hit due to whatever script gets put in place to force you into a cold streak.
-
I think the biggest issue for me is the inconsistency (or maybe consistency) of the RNG. I mostly play franchise on player lock and the guy I'm locked on will rake like crazy for a couple of months and then the RNG switch gets flipped and you're in for a month of miserably frustrating performances and it feels like there is literally nothing you can do input wise to get out of it. The pitching difficulty seems to bump up to GOAT level and even when you do get the PCI and timing right, every ball is hit right to a fielder. It feels entirely scripted at that point.
Can they not spread the RNG out a little? Mix in some bad games with good ones, or tough ABs with the meatball pitch ABs? The game is too streaky in both hot and cold directions and it kills the enjoyment of the game. Nobody wants to play 25 games in a row where it feels like their input is meaningless and they are just along for the ride. I also don't want the gift hits that are given when I'm in a hot streak. I don't want to hit a homer on a pitch I clearly missed and I want to feel like there is something I can do to get out of a cold streak instead of just feeling like I have to wait it out until the RNG switch gets flipped again. Make the player's input relevant.

My experience is the name change audio is working while hitting and with the PA announcer but they still call the player by his original name while in the field and baserunning. @ralph13m_PSN Does your suggested "fix" work for while fielding/baserunning as well?
-
A recent update fixed the name audio for edited players while batting and with the PA system but the game is still using the original name in the field and on the basepaths. Hopefully SDS is aware that this bug still exists and is working to implement the fix in an upcoming patch.

They fixed the name audio for the PA announcer and while hitting but it's still using the original name while fielding and running the bases. A super annoying bug and not sure why there is always so little attention to detail with these sorts of issues.
