    Franchise progressions
  • LoneBlackMan_XBLL LoneBlackMan_XBL

I rarely play franchise but decided to start up one. Been fairly fun, but noticed some glaring issues.

    1. Rookie progression is just weird and seems focused more on their potential rather than performance
    2. Quirks never develop. This seems like it would be an easy fix since you can just track certain metrics and see what tendencies/outcones hitters have. Kinda kills rookie development
    3. Feels like you can trade anybody, which is not remotely the case

Kinda feels pointless to play a dull franchise out as I play for player progression and team building, but it seems free agent acquisition is the only practical way to build. Kinda boring

  • Pick Off Attempts
  • LoneBlackMan_XBLL LoneBlackMan_XBL

Yeah, it really feels like cpu knows immediately when you cue up a steal 😂

  • Enough is Enough sick of cheaters
  • LoneBlackMan_XBLL LoneBlackMan_XBL

You haven't offered any evidence of actual cheating. Sounds like you think you're better at the game than you actually are.

  • A troll made me late for work
  • LoneBlackMan_XBLL LoneBlackMan_XBL

Played early this morning. Starts off bunt dancing so i knew it was gonna be a toxic game. Bunt cheese, constant steal attempts. Even has Matt Waldron starting. Just troll behavior entire game. He's beating me 4-3 in 6th when he bombs a 3 run jack to go up 7-3. Of course he replays. I'm like whatever, I lose cool. But I keep playing. He remains toxic. I actually grind back and tie it 8-8 in bottom 9th. Extras. At this point I'm like " I gotta get to work, I gotta quit". But no, I want to beat this toxic a-hole. We match runs and go 8-8. Another extra frame. I'm straight up late now, but I gotta finish. 11th inning he bombs a 2 run shot for 10-8 lead. And another replay. I'm like " man I'm late just to take an L". I'm laughing but cool, no early patients at work for me anyway. Next inning a walk and a single load the bases. He strikes out a batter with bases loaded. I'm sure I'm gonna blow this. Then a gift from the gods, a slider dead center on a tee. Perfect perfect grand slam walk off. The game freezes. 10 seconds later " your connection to your opponent has been lost". Haha made his toxic azz rage. Walked into work this morning smiling telling everyone I had car trouble. Lol love crushing trolls

  • Walking away for a bit
  • LoneBlackMan_XBLL LoneBlackMan_XBL

I don't usually rage quit or complain too much but this year's game feels so underwhelming. I keep playing games where you're rewarded for terrible swing timing and bled to death with bloop singles and prolonged foul tip at bats. Too many hits on balls almost the dirt or way off the plate. I just played a game where I came back to tie 2-2 but quit because I kept lining out on perfect perfects. It just feels so flukey right now. And goes both ways. Had a game where I was completely fooled on an inside slide about 8 inches off the plate but still managed to hit it out. Makes 0 sense. It doesn't feel rewarding to play anymore, and I had a blast last year. I feel like it's a crapshoot what happens when I swing, as good timing, good pci location just doesn't feel like it's rewarded appropriately. Been playing this game for years and I can honestly say this is the first time I've put it down this quickly. Unfortunate, I always feel this is far and away the best sports sim

  • I uninstalled today
  • LoneBlackMan_XBLL LoneBlackMan_XBL

I think I have wrung every ounce of entertainment out of Mlb the show this year. This is by far the longest I've stayed active playing. To me 23 was the best version of the show in the past 5 years. Had a great time playing. Didn't uninstall because of fatigue. Rather I just want to reset before 24 drops. I think I won't enjoy 24 as much if I'm still playing 23. That said a few things and maybe some ideas for next games:

    1. No more day 1 99's. If everyone is elite, then no one is. Every card felt the same and lineups lost a lot of uniqueness.

    2. Sets and seasons needs a rework. The grind 99 was already exhausting, but then I can't even use the card very long before it's restricted

    3. Lineouts, lineouts, lineouts. I have never had so many perfect perfect lineouts ever. Also way too many perfect flyouts. Not sure why the frequency is so high, but it's frustrating flying out to the warning track on a perfect with Mike trout ( has happened to me multiple times)

    4. Managers instead of captains.i loved the idea of captains, but in execution I was very disappointed. I never actually used the captain, I simply subbed in a 99. I think having manager cards could confer boosts to teams while not taking up a player slot. Like Bruce Bochy raising clutch and contact or Joe Maddon raising baserunning and defense. Rather that than a card I won't actually use anyway

Gave the show 23 a B+ this year. Had a blast playing and hope they continue to build off this iteration.

  • Games getting worse
  • LoneBlackMan_XBLL LoneBlackMan_XBL

I swear this has been such a step backwards.

-Crazy long at bats even the higher difficulties because of constant foul tips. I threw it in the dirt on purpose, why did you even swing let alone make contact?

    • Fluke after fluke after fluke while I get penalized with lineouts after perfect contact. I tracked and counted I had a 9 total perfects over the course of two games and tallied two total bases. Wth??
I'll take a late contact oppo blooper over perfect perfect contact anyday

    • Way to basically vomit all content at once while simultaneously defeating the purpose of the grind. I'm not paying more money for pack SDS

I honestly can't see myself playing this much longer. Everything took a huge step back this year.

  • Games getting worse
  • LoneBlackMan_XBLL LoneBlackMan_XBL

@eatyum two Line drive singles buddy. Rest were lineouts. Had two caught on warning track. No reason to lie about it. I've played this game for almost a decade. Been one of its staunchest supporters. This year's version is almost unplayable. I didn't even mention:

    1. Terrible swing animations on good timing. Why does it look like my batter is flailing at a good timed pitches with good pci placement?

    2. Audio broadcast is completely disjointed. Here's something everyone's experienced. The broadcaster exclaiming basically saying you crushed the ball only for it to result in a routine pop fly that doesn't even reach the warning track.

    3. Pinpoint pitching inconsistent. Even on perfect release and timing, spot gets missed by wide margin too often. The strike zone is way too tight as well. Tight strike zone, constant foul offs and wonky pitching makes it impossible to get anyone half-decent out

I'm not someone that just flames because I lost a game or two. The game is really rough this year. Not having fun

  • More Stats Desired
  • LoneBlackMan_XBLL LoneBlackMan_XBL

Plenty of stats already under advanced stats. So many thar I don't even know what many are. I Just want to play the game, not create a baseball savant simulator

  • quitting...opponents
  • LoneBlackMan_XBLL LoneBlackMan_XBL

I don't mind people quitting. If i or you are getting hammered, no rrason to finish for sake of finishing. What I mind is something that happens to me regularly. You quit in the middle of my homerun or bases clearing hit, eliminating the xp for that. So annoying. I'll quit a game, buy I never rage quit. I let you get your stats and just quit.

This happened to me in 22. I was down 2 in bottom of ninth, two on, can't remember # outs. I smash what looks to be a nk doubters. In the middle of ball flight I get the lost connect message. I knew he rage quit. Problem was game was completely nullified and I got an error message. I was furious

  • Hitting/Pitching Annoying
  • LoneBlackMan_XBLL LoneBlackMan_XBL

I played plenty of MLB 21. I don't think I'm a great player but have made WS and usually pitch well. That said, I've been finding pitching much more annoying lately as people still can hit balls way out of the zone for foul offs. Thats always been an issue. What I've noticed after approximately 30 games is the sheer number of low or outside the zone hits that are occurring. I had an 0-2 change aimed directly in the dirt, the pci feedback after indicated the ball was well beneath the zone, and yet it gets driven in the air opposite field on late timing for a double. Also, much bigger frequency of late swing fluke singles over 1B or 3B head. I had a blast playing mlb 21, but this feels really arcadey right now. Just wondering if anyone else feels this way?

  • Any hitting tips?
  • LoneBlackMan_XBLL LoneBlackMan_XBL

There's already a ton of YouTube tutorials for batting that will do a better job than anything you get here. Some of the major streamers like littleman, yourfriendkyle or koogs tend to put one out every year. There are plenty of lesser know streamers that put out great guides as well. OhChev and CJ12k do good work. There's plenty more with quality guides. My suggestion is watch a couple and see what works for you

  • Hitting/Pitching Annoying
  • LoneBlackMan_XBLL LoneBlackMan_XBL

    @yankblan_psn said in Hitting/Pitching Annoying:

That would make you the only player able to see opponents PCI feedback

The pci circle feedback is gone, but still shows pitch location. Sorry if I kinda worded that weird, but only way I thought to explain it. Im talking more pitches far out of zone being driven for hard hits more routinely this year. Completely possible, but should be extremely low frequency

  • Can old people make World Series?
  • LoneBlackMan_XBLL LoneBlackMan_XBL

45 years old this year. Made WS last 2 years. Noticed I'm struggling a bit more this year, but still play pretty competitively. I think it's still very possible for us old guys, just a bit tougher overall as reactions slow a tick

  • Online Rated so shameful
  • LoneBlackMan_XBLL LoneBlackMan_XBL

love trying different teams. I don't care about win/loss. I do make the mistake of quick selecting through search modifier and get a game playrd at rook/vet. Game is too arcadey at those levels

  • Charge the mound and empty the benches
  • LoneBlackMan_XBLL LoneBlackMan_XBL

I really dont think charging mound adds anything. Actually I think it just slows the game down needlessly. Its not like hockey, where fighting is an integral part of the sport. I think, they could do a benches clearing animation after excessive hbp, but that's all I wouldn't mind seeing

  • The best Show in a long time
  • LoneBlackMan_XBLL LoneBlackMan_XBL

This has to be my favorite iteration of The Show. 22 was fun but often frustrating. This feels so much better. SDS really hit a homerun here. Day one content is fantastic. Beautiful homage to the Negro leagues that's so well produced. More hitting feedback and dynamic fielding. I dont feel like I'm playing an aracdey RNG right now. It feels like the baseball simulator I always wanted. And I know SDS will be bringing patches to address some bugs/balance issues, but really I am so impressed with this year's game. Well done SDS

  • Online Rated 2024
  • LoneBlackMan_XBLL LoneBlackMan_XBL

I love online rated because I can just play and not really struggle against someone's DD God Squad. The competition is much less sweaty. As for cheaters I feel I've played plenty of the higher ranked guys. The Jimmy_Flourish guy has been there for years and beats me everytime I match against. Plays on legend, so he seems legit. The rest play on rookie and veteran which bores me to tears. They also bunt cheese and steal constantly, so I usually set to all star ir hall of fame difficulty to avoid the lame competition

The skill gap between DD players vs Online rated is severe. I can make world series, but it's super hard. I'm not even playing DD ranked until i get a solid squad. But I'm 20-1 I'm online rated and my only loss was due to awful lag for both of us. Love online rated for casual ranked play. DD is really what tests your skill though

  • every one that’s good should play on hof and zone hitting
  • LoneBlackMan_XBLL LoneBlackMan_XBL

I pause to pour drinks and puff

  • Absolutely Terrible Game
  • LoneBlackMan_XBLL LoneBlackMan_XBL

I've had 3 perfect perfect foul balls last 2 days. Was actually sitting on location for two of them and was so pissed when perfect just glided foul. Not to mention a ridiculous amount of perfect lineouts. Game can be absurdly frustrating
