Thanks all for the advice. For the record, I'm not complaining about the difficulty of showdowns. Just admitting my difficulty of achieving them, both this season and historically. Although, I have done pretty well in the mini showdowns in the Diamond Quests.
I honestly haven't tried the Spring Breakout one yet because of the initial phase where you had to beat it four times to complete the collection. I'll definitely try it if you only need to do it twice.
And I'll give the Jackie Robinson more shots. I feel like if I could win one of those last two minis, I'd have a good chance in the final.
I was mainly just wondering if y'all thought another Negro Leagues storyline would be coming also to help complete that collection. I'm guessing it will at some point, but hopefully I'll have beaten the showdown by then.

Have needed one more collection to get 99 Rolen for some time now. Spring Breakout or Negro Leagues.
Can't get it done because I'm lousy at showdowns. I've read tips on the Jackie Robinson one about using good bunters, fast players and bunt cheese attribute. Did all that and successfully laid down one out of six bunts. Failed each of the final two mini bosses and then scored about 12 runs off Donaldson, but of course I needed about 24.

I have no desire to even try to win four showdowns in the Spring Breakout. That whole idea is stunningly bad.

I'm thinking there will be another set of Negro League storylines before the season is done, so I can at least get Donaldson.

Is that just wishful thinking on my part?

I've only needed Ramirez and Witt for like six weeks now. Got Skenes first and then Freeman. Stupidly quick sold Skenes back immediately, but didn't with Freeman since he was at the bare minimum. Went from 135,000 stubs to 48,000. Boo hoo.

I've searched "alternate" here several times and seen maybe two other threads where it's been a topic of discussion for this season. Neither thread I found had any substantive info with nothing from SDS about when there will actually be enough to collect.

I never seem to be in a position to buy flash sale stuff when they pop up, but had 85,000 today so I took both chances on the 85+ Live. Yeah, that was stupid. Got Corbin Carroll and Trea Turner, so about a 53,500 loss.
So I still just need five players - and 1.2 million stubs - to complete live series. lol

To me, the biggest issue about offense is this: Rookie hitting in Play vs. CPU is not the same as rookie hitting in Conquest (harder) and very much not the same as rookie hitting in Mini Seasons (brutal).

Seems like I've noticed that if I warm up a reliever in between innings or in the middle of innings, it doesn't freeze. Hope I didn't jinx it.

All of these points are true for me as well. I play basically just offline and on rookie or veteran. The content this year is fantastic. The hitting grind is brutal.
Perfect summary of this year's game happened to me in mini seasons yesterday on rookie. Scoreless game in the top of the 4th because, you know ... hitting. I strike out Babe Ruth with Rollie Fingers, but the pitch gets away in the dirt and Ruth reaches first. Why, why, why are there so many wild pitches this season??? These are major league catchers blocking here. Juan Soto then turns on a 1-2 fastball up and in for a 3-run bomb.
Bottom of the 4th, I've got Tim Raines ghost running on 2nd. He takes off for third (not my call), but I get a outside fastball to Craig Biggio, who smokes it to right "perfectly." First baseman makes a leaping grab of the 103mph hit then throws to second for the easy double play.
This game has always had a double play fixation, but the wild pitch thing and lack of offense this year are mood killers.
As it stands, I'm about 22 games into this mini season and I still need six hits by Barry Larkin for the Ryan Braun card, seven extra-base hits for the jumbo pack and 300 PXP for the pipeline pack.

Happened to me in three Conquest games yesterday. Just happened in the top of the ninth of a Play vs. CPU today. Each time it was after I started warming up someone in the bullpen.
