I think the most glaring contrast is that in ranked seasons unless you’re hitting bombs you just don’t see a ton of extra base hits. I hit a lot of bombs in the event but i also hit a lot of gappers for doubles and triples too. For whatever reason in RS everything hit hard to the outfield that doesn’t leave the yard tends to hang in the air forever, have a ton of hook or slice on it or is hit right at an outfielder. I feel like most of my perfect/perfect in RS are either bombs or sharp singles that make it over the infield but land about 10 feet in front of the outfielders. I feel like it’s a rare occurrence to rip a double into the gap

I think there are a couple of factors that led to sports games becoming so bad. Consoles are more powerful than ever and feature better graphics and more realistic physics engines, so collectively expectations have gotten higher and higher. Couple that with developers claiming to make games that are true “simulation” experiences when In Reality they aren’t leads to a lot of disappointment. Also, I think the ultimate team/dd modes have really hurt games too because these modes are the big money makers so the developers are obviously going to spend a lot of time and effort on them and often times neglect other areas of the games. Exclusive licenses and a lack of any real competition has really been a problem too. Madden has been the only nfl game and the show the only mlb game for a while now and it’s pretty evident that when a game has complete domination of a market for that long they start to get stale
-
You’re aware that you can turn cross play off right?
-
It’s not worth it. Buying packs is never worth it. Just keep saving or use that nice bank roll to flip cards on the market
-
Pitching is so bad. Doesn’t matter who your pitcher is, what their confidence level is, or how perfect your input is pitches seem to pretty much never end up where you want them. It seems like everything either misses the zone by a mile or is center cut. All this is compounded by the fact that if you are able to located on the edges more often than not it gets called a ball. It’s so frustrating
-
That’s still a huge issue though. Makes it hard to make adjustments to your timing from pitch to pitch if the feedback isn’t accurate

Apparently winning pitcher of the month back to back months isn’t good enough for sds

I hate to say it but this game is starting to feel a lot like ‘18

Here is what happened, when ea had competition they put out a better product. Now with 2K making a game let’s see what happens. Also SDS has not competition, they know we will play it because we like baseball. If someone could challenge them the issues would be fixed if they were losing players to another game.
I remember when mvp baseball and the mlb games were both really good. Madden and nfl2k were both really solid. Once the competition ended everything went downhill

Hitting in this game is just garbage. I had a good/good with mvp Posey go for a 96mph exit velo on a 98mph fastball from Newhouser. Ended up being a fly out a few feet in front of the track. Posey has 112 power vs lefties. Tell me how that makes sense.

As a Sox fan id love to see a 2014 Jose abreu silver slugger/RoY card since he had a monster year that year but I don’t see that happening
-
Prime dibble is nasty

It’s a testament to how inept sds is that it’s gotten worse since they supposedly patched it

I'm a hitter and pitcher in real life on a year round competitive team. I have seen a few sinkers here and there. I also see it on TV. I can tell you that it is a good pitch. It is good for enforcing grounders and contact. In this game it is too good though. In real life it breaks a little downwards. In this game it breaks like a changeup with way more velocity than a changeup. I think it is over powered. Do you guys think they should nerf it or keep giving it to every pitcher?
I think they should nerf it personally. Too many people are reliant on high sinkers because the velocity and break are just not realistic. It’s also interesting that they keep giving everyone a sinker when in reality sinkers are being thrown less and less due to the launch angle revolution, and teams valuing pitchers who throw 4 seamers with insane velo to combat it.

Yeah. Even if I could come up with an answer for you, it doesn’t really make for satisfying gameplay IMO.
Hitting this year really is a huge dice roll. So many good/good, good/squared, perfect/perfects from power hitters that seem to run out of steam but the you get early/ok absolute moonshots. And I’m not saying I haven’t benefited from it at times because I have but there just isn’t any consistency when it comes to the relationship between input and outcome
Agreed. I know there have been a lot of takes on things, but based on the last patch, my opinion is that the emphasis on capturing some idea of “realism” has caused the gameplay to suffer, at least for average users like myself.
Yea I hear ya. I want the game to be as close to a sim as possible but when you’re taking about competitive game modes I think user input should be the biggest factor in determining results. It feels like this year with both hitting and pitching especially a lot of the outcomes are really out of your control

So you want every 96 mph exit velocity and good/good to be a home run? You have to factor in the pitcher's stats as well, not just your hitter's stats.
Not what I’m saying at all. What I’m saying is that if you have hitter with a very high power rating and you make good contact it shouldn’t result in an exit velo that’s lower than the pitch. Also hr/9 is no longer a factor in online play. H/9 is but that has an effect on pci size
You are forgetting pitch location matters. You can have good/ good but if it’s inside, you can not get full extension. It is physics, please learn about physics before you speak on physics. Thank you very much .
I understand that location matters but it happens on pitches that are in very hittable locations fully inside the strike zone. I don’t expect to hit a rocket on a pitch 6 inches outside or a pitch in the dirt, but when you make good contact on a pitch that’s just below the belt and over the plate it’s a little weird when it comes off the bat like you hit with a rolled up newspaper. Especially when you talking about guys with huge power ratings. All I’m saying is that outcomes in this game are completely random. As I said earlier I’ve hit absolute bombs on early/okay.

Yea I’ve noticed this too. They have Frankie montas in White Sox uniform. He hasn’t played for them since 2015. Same with Craig stammen. They have him in a nats uniform but he hasn’t been with them since 2015
How many of these are you getting per game?
