I wanted to see how appealing this concept would sound if SDS went through with implementing it. The concept I came up with is having your overall capped to make your career more realistic. With this concept, the game is programmed to randomly select a cap for you, and you won't know what your cap is until it hits a random point in your career. Just like in real life, players won't know they don't have it anymore until they get to that point in their career and for young players, potential can be really unpredictable. It's hard to predict things like whether Shohei Ohtani will play like he has through his entire deal. Or you can be like Jackson Chourio and get a long-term deal at a young age, but you probably won't live up to the hype. Or It's hard to predict whether a journeyman will get past getting one-year deals to fight for a roster spot.
I came up with this idea because I feel like it is easy to make and develop a high overall character and predictably get multiyear deals from teams like the Dodgers. The only time you don't get deals like this is if you're hitting 40 and at the end of your career. This idea might sound really dumb because you can keep training until you find out you are capped forever. Even though it doesn't sound attractive, I would be willing to try it if they ever came up with something similar in concept. As long as you can keep training to get a boost to help with being capped, I'm sure there can be a way to make it where you don't suck entirely. Let me know what you think about this. I didn't really think everything out about this concept so feel free to add or subtract what you think might work if they actually considered doing something like this.
