I went flawless for the first time ever!! I can't believe it actually happened. I got really lucky in a few games, but I'll gladly take that flawless banner! My lineup was definitely underwhelming, but my pitching took me the distance. If you're interested in my lineup, it's below. If not, thanks for even bothering to read this far. HYPE!!!

Y'all must be playing under HOF difficulty. I've pitched a 1 run CG (HOF) and a 7 inning 2 run game (Legend) with Maddux in the two games I've used him. His control is amazing (analog), his movement is disgusting, and you'll freeze people consistently if you pitch properly with him instead of trying to spam an 89 mph sinker up in the zone.

10/10 would definitely recommend Maddux to anybody that consistently plays above AS.

Awards Daniel Murphy and Sig Jorge Posada are better for me than Awards Trout, Sig Mickey, and Awards Babe. Don't ask me how. They just are.

Hopped on to play just now and decided I'd just pull the 2 Show packs I had sitting in my inventory before I started any games. Ended up pulling Gerrit Cole! He's the first high diamond I've pulled this year. Sold him, giving me enough stubs to buy Trout, which let me finish collections and get Mantle! I've never finished collections before, and I've only spent 20 bucks on stubs (on opening night). Feeling pretty accomplished this morning, not gonna lie.

Okay, so my real thoughts are here.

I got my life dotted away by Hal. I'm talking at least five strikeouts looking because of absolutely perfect pitches on the paint.
Pitch speeds seem fine at least, even against Hal, but I'll definitely need to get used to the smaller PCI. I seemed to either time it right and be way under the ball or I was placing the PCI perfectly but was way too late. I only had 3 hits, and only one extra base hit which was a double.
Recognizing pitches out of the hand was difficult. I almost had to adjust after the pitch. But I've never hit Hal well even in lower difficulties, so maybe it's just him.
Cole Hamels doesn't seem like he's gonna cut it on Legend. I think his pitch speed differentials are almost too big, which makes pitches easier to pick up on.
I ended up getting mercied after 7 innings.
My only saving grace is that I actually matched up with a top 20 player on the lifetime boards, Tulowry, so I don't feel that bad about losing. Just gotta grind and git gud!

I, too, indulge in extracurricular activities involving illegal substances.

I did. You’re complaining about people spending money, and saying that’s the only reason they are beating you.

Lots of people could buy the best cards in the game and still not make it very far. The free cards are just as good as purchasable cards in most cases.

So no, this game is not pay to win.

When I lose by 1 or 2 runs in a game and it's because my good/good with an 87 overall is a shallow flyout and their late/okay with Mantle is a 3 run homer, yes, I'd absolutely say their cards are compensating for a lack of skill.

I find redoing the USA map slowly is the best way to get inning missions done. Just load your team full of the team needed and it's done in one game. Then when you finish the map naturally, 10 free packs just for doing your missions.

Reggie Jackson's is my favorite. Simple, but straight disrespect. Flinging the bat down forcefully, staring, then a slow trot.

I love it when they get a lunge animation on a ball that literally would've been a wild pitch and they still get the foul tip. Perfectly realistic and accurate gameplay. lol

Hamels has been really good for me. Some people read him really well, but more often than not, they don't. He has great speed differentials, and if you don't overuse the circle change primary, it can be deadly.

Moving Hamilton to the outfield was the move. Just went FLAWLESS!

I had to decide between benching him for Hamilton's defense or keeping a horrible defensive outfield. I'm glad I put Hamilton in center to help out Joc and Meadows.

I'm getting so tired of going against these guys in the 500s with a 19-17 record that have every card in the game, including Mantle. They get bailed out simply by having cards with attributes that are far superior to that of a NMS team.

I just beat a guy with every top diamond in the game last night, 6-2, so my guess is it doesn't become any easier because good cards cant make you hit a fastball, curveball or pitch very well.

all he is saying is that a bad player gets more room for error with great cards than maybe someone with decent cards and is actually the better player because those cards help make up for maybe said person's lack of skill..

This is exactly what I'm saying. When your margin for error is 10% larger (89 OVR vs 99 OVR) than your opponent, it makes for a not very fun experience.

Just hit a perfect/perfect liner with normal swing that had an 83 MPH exit velo. Makes perfect sense.

My pack luck to this point has been pulling Alonso 4 times, Judge 3 times, Kershaw 3 times, and Yates 2 times. I'm pretty sure I haven't pulled a diamond all year that has sold for over 20k until this morning. lol

I started Kluber. He gave up a two run shot in the first, but I rode it out. He went seven innings and didn't allow any more runs. Then Hamels pitched the last two innings and he gave up a solo shot. I won 8-3, I think.

Sent the guy a message afterwards saying I was sorry for bringing a starter out of the pen, but he said, "don't apologize. In your WS game, everything goes. Gotta lock it down." So ggs to that guy for being a hell of a sport!

I was just thinking about this last night. With the new Awards series I think a 95-96 Chris Davis Silver Slugger would be an awesome card to use.

Julio Franco. Pretty sure he was "99" years old when he played his last MLB season.
