Remove button hitting would be a good start.

A very typical fan comment. Someone who knows very little about the game always feels they could call the game better, since it’s the only thing they can recognize.

What are you, some baseball analytical genius? Please enlighten us ignorant fans.

I think there’s a lot more to focus on, since the game hitting mechanics haven’t changed in 10+ years.

Lol. Started playing again recently after a few years away. Good to see SDS hasn’t changed one bit.

They should keep it in the game, just not make it visible. Also, remove button hitting and this game would be nice. Offline modes use what ever you want.

Just came back to this game this week after a few years not playing. It’s good to see nothing has changed. SDS has always been a joke. The only difference I see in the game is pinpoint pitching.

    This thread is laughable lol

PCI is fine if you are trying to learn to play the game but once you're good enough then turn it off. Skepple15, are you still trying to learn the game or this is how you normally play? I bet when you play racing game you use T-Cam instead of Cockpit? Or how about when you play Poker you wear shades?. See these are all the sucker's way out, man up and play games properly 🙂

So just wondering how does it feel to be at the mercy of the cpu and RNG and just have to press x to do everything?? 🤔 hard to do 2 things at once or?...

Uhh...you can still hit with zone and have the PCI not visible..genius. This sub is just full of idiots that think they're good players, but they chase around a white dot with a cursor. Turn PCI visibility off with zone. F*cking clown.

Since this is a video game and we can’t physically swing a bat to hit.. a pci is the closest thing to being realistic and swinging. Not having a pci is like not being able to have a red dot and aim down in CoD lol Also you mention details and graphics.. They’re great and all but give me a game that plays great over that any day.
Once again for the 5th time??..not sure. There is still a PCI. Did you read it correctly? Let it sink in. If you now turn PCI off in settings, the PCI will not appear on your screen, when you are using zone hitting. NOW JUST BECAUSE YOU TURNED IT OFF DOESN'T MEAN THERE IS NOT A PCI. You can still move the PCI, you just can't see it on your screen. If you can't understand this now, you need to take your PS4 and throw it out the window. You don't need to be playing video games, you need to re-start your entire education. 1st or 2nd grade reading would help immensely.

I smell a burner account of one of the Neanderthals who've been crying about this lately.

The pci gets smaller and larger based on the attributes of the card.

Directional, analog, and zone all have a pci. It isn't my fault you choose to use a hitting interface that doesn't allow you to move your pci independently. You know the buckshot on your swing feedback? Yeah, thats your pci.

Stop acting like pure analog takes some godly talent or is superior or something. It's laughable. You time the swing only. You do half of a swing.

I've had this account for 10 years, but haven't used the forums for at least 2 years. Once again, a failure in reading comprehension by another bottom feeding moron. You can still move the PCI if it isn't visible when using ZONE HITTING. There is an option to turn PCI off in game. The PCI isn't "gone", you just can't see it, but can still move it to the ball. Now that you've turned it "off" (CAN'T SEE IT, BUT CAN STILL MOVE IT TO THE BALL), turn analog (on), stride (on) and hit. Did I spell out clearly enough for you Einstein?

Pci should not be removed ever, it should be made smaller by a hole lot! People like judge should be the size of the barrel of a bat and trout with high vision should be closer to double the barrel of the bat. That's how you make the game competitive again. Then you reward good input way more and allow the cream of the crop to finally play a legitimate game with legitimate players instead of all this bull [censored] swing at everything and make contact no matter how poor your timing was or how far off your pci was. That and check swings too, get rid of them or implement a double tap system that it actually takes skill to get a check swing, people literally swing at everything these days it's so sad to see. I miss arcade baseball at this point

I'm always reluctant to post things like this, due to the incredibly low level of reading comprehension in this sub. The PCI wouldn't be "removed", you simply wouldn't be able to see it. This option is currently in the game now. You can move the PCI with the left stick without the cursor being visible. It is more difficult to hit this way obviously.

What hitting camera do you use? Because if you use a zoomed in strike zone version, which I am betting you do, you're just a big ol' hypocrite.

I use strike zone 2 or offset zoom. I don't see any difference whatsoever between strike zone or strike zone 2 or offset zoom, while using the above settings. Way to miss the entire point.

This is the directional fight in reverse.

The reason that your BA increases when you switch to zone has way more to do with your user input meaning more with zone than with analog. I love hitting with analog, it's fun, it feels more like swinging a bat, but PCI placement is not precise and it feels like you are at the mercy of the players attribute way more than you are with zone. So for that I switched to zone in 17 and haven't looked back.

You're close, but not quite. Use zone, but not with buttons. Use the analog stick instead, and with stride. Turn the PCI visibility off. Then you'll see how good you really are.

I absolutely love what they did with the new pci customization. Hitting with analog and zone is ridiculous. No one would play the game.
The only thing I’m seeing a lot of problems with is good/squared up. I feel like I never get a hit on good squared up. It’s always perfect or good/okay for me.

This is exactly why the community will incessantly haggle over timing or PCI placement combined with user or player attributes. This will never end and will only get worse. The learning curve for the game is incredibly small with a community that enjoys their crutches.

  • Overdue changes to hitting interfaces needed
  • IIIDiscoIII_PSNI IIIDiscoIII_PSN

This post is attacking the fixation of the community using the PCI (visible) and to a lesser extent, the use of buttons for hitting. The use of Zone with buttons is the most effective way to hit, not because of a steep learning curve to be effective, but due to the ease of tracking a cursor to the ball. It's not terribly difficult to learn, with 5-6 hours of play time and reasonable plate discipline, a player can become very proficient. Your average should rise significantly, likely in the range of 50-75 points.

The removal of the PCI from the screen (not visible) is long overdue, the heavy reliance on this makes the game unrealistic and holds some irony, due to the focus on a cursor instead of the high detail and graphics within the game. No visibility of the PCI will widen the learning curve significantly and won't result in the developers constantly tweaking player attributes to balance with user input.

It is a very touchy subject within the community, because everyone enjoys their crutches. NBA 2k is a good example of a sports game that tries to institute more user input into the game, while making the game more immersive. They do it more specifically with their shot meter; the players that remove the shot meter (crutch) receive a wider window of error.

As far as button hitting, this feature should have been removed from the game entirely long ago or heavily nerfed. The default or highest difficulty/highest reward should be hitting w/stride (analog) with zone (w/o the PCI visible).
