Immersive experience - still room for improvement
  • Fergplay_PSNF Fergplay_PSN

The game’s incremental improvements are appreciated, but there is room for more:

    Sound:
Broadcast commentary still falls short. Not enough between pitch banter, commentary as players walk up or when they leave field at the end of an inning, or during replays. What is Sony Studios current ability to add commentary throughout the season like Madden has been doing?

Crowd reactions still need improvements. The crowd falls silent too quickly after both positive and negative moments. Particularly noticeable after big moments in a game.

    Visuals:
Can’t we mimic broadcasts with more cutscenes making use of tv- like shots/angles? This would allow for more time for the broadcast banter mentioned above. Further, these can be skippable for those who don’t want it.

Can we have an option for the drifting flyball indicator on the field that is a shadow with adjustable intensity as an alternative to the white baseball?

I feel like the broadcast camera should be higher and zoomed out a bit more for fly balls

  • Suggested Commentary Improvements

Some improvements to commentary that would be great to see:

    a. Still too repetitive on many occasions (example: "outfielders are playing deep, they don't want to let anything over their heads")
    b. The timing of the color commentary from Singleton could be more natural. There are too many instances where Singleton is silent when I would expect to hear a color commentator chiming in during a tv broadcast
    c. Do commentary updates include new voice recordings? Madden 23 does something interesting here where they continue to add studio recordings as well as audio taken from television broadcasts to freshen things up (I am not at all suggesting that they have perfected this).
    d. Perhaps an expanded version of audio unlockables could play a complementary role here as well where stubs can be used to purchase audio packages to enhance offline play such as in exhibition live rosters.
    e. Commentators seem only to announce pitchers up in the bullpen for the CPU
    f. There needs to be a more fluid transition when Singleton is interrupted mid comment (due to the end of an inning for example).
    g. How might SDS leverage new AI tech. to more rapidly expand the commentary capabilities (e.g., greater variety, multiple broadcast crews, etc.) through voice emulation. The contractual agreements for something like this would obviously need to be worked out.

Hope people find these interesting and can build on them
