    Severely disappointed
  • ericg819_PSNE ericg819_PSN

I am a perennial Show player and have been since the game's release. It's one of the main reasons I stuck with PlayStation during the console wars of the early 2000s.

Really don't have time or desire to play against the computer so my go-to has always PvP in online rated or DD. I probably have thrown hundreds of thousands of pitches and had tens of thousands of ABs over the years.

The one fact about this game that has held true over the years is that this is not an actual representation of the game of baseball. It is simply a simulated baseball experience that you must use mathematical equations to decipher whether or not you should have been rewarded for a swing or pitch..

Up until this year you would hit a perfect meter or analog throw and hang one down the middle. Last year they implemented the perfect contact but it has anything but perfect results.

You may have a 50-50 chance to get a hit on good contact and that's being gracious, prob more like 30-70.

You are rewarded for swinging terribly by receiving an unethical amount of foul balls and punished for good contact and timing.

All the "pro" players have those team showdown perks active and pack increased odds. They are not an accurate representation of the game. The same swings common users put out, end up having a far different outcome than what you see in their gameplay.

The outcome is simply not in the user's hands, that's why there is so much pushback towards the gameplay. A simple adjustment to the sliders regarding solid human hits and foul balls would make a world of difference in the PvP.

I don't think anyone can honestly say that they have fun playing against another person or that an actual representation of the user input well decide the outcome.

When you win or get a hit you end up thanking the game rather than feeling good about doing something right. Mostly it's just frustration and hearing the SDS simps in your ear "that's baseball" "get gooder"

In reality, there is no way to "get gooder" you're forced to do mathematical equations justifying the outcome of a swing.

I ditched his game in 19' and the marketing for the perfect swings pulled me back in. I cannot stress the euphoric and liberating feeling that swept over me after I sizzled this game disc across the room.

To all those struggling with extreme frustration, don't pull a Jesus Lazerado and break your hand or even a controller. Break whats already broken, take it out on the game and nothing else

Unfortunately uninstalled and moved on. I loved this game and the content was great! What's the point if all it's good fo,r is being used against the computer?

Will take a miracle marketing campaign to get me back and an ungodly amount of good reviews on user input controlling the outcome of PVP.

This is 1 of 2 games that I play all year and I know I won't be missed... Especially by those simps or bots that are paid to defend the unreasonable gameplay.

I hope these post helped those that struggled with the frustration this game brings and their love for baseball being mocked by it

  • FIX CONTACT SWING!
  • ericg819_PSNE ericg819_PSN

I agree that hitting needs to be tuned tremendously. In my opinion it starts with the foul balls, there's far too many opportunities to record an out per AB for the perfect/perfect or good/good swings to go for a free out. At least make a defender take the hit away

There's really only 2 swings in regular baseball, when a guy wants to make contact or he's going for launch angle..

I literally had no idea that's why everyone's PCI was huge. Circle swinging until they fix it, thanks guys.

If you are a person that has their team's away uniforms set to white, you should have to wear a big red nose, red shoes, red afro and with makeup to play the game.

You know, since you're such a clown and all....

Also, why does the away team's stadium sounds get played?

  • To the Devs: we need Hardcore Ranked Seasons
  • ericg819_PSNE ericg819_PSN

I genuinely love this game, and the content has been absolutely fantastic this year! I have been playing since 2006 and I probably won't ever stop. My complaints and suggestions come from a place to make user experience better, not to be a hater.

I think everyone by now, has unfortunately been the victim of a very late swing and terrible PCI placement home run... The game is not "scripted" I wholeheartedly believe this is a simulated baseball experience, not a baseball simulator.

There is no consistency between games and that's because we are all victims to the hitting engine keeping the games within realistic baseball stats. I think we can all agree that the hitting is a simulated experience and it's up to the game whether or not you get a hit...

That's why you don't have the same results on the same swing every time. I understand that's baseball but this is a video game and I beleive we're not looking for a simulated baseball experience, we're looking to see who's skill is better.

In my opinion, if I wanted to see a random pitch result, I would just watch a real baseball game. What's the point to play a video game against another human opponent if what you are doing doesn't control the outcome? Why wouldn't we just play the computer to get these realistic outcomes?

What does everyone think about a hardcore ranked Seasons, where the rewards are the same but just given to you at a lower number of wins?

In this game mode you would have to have a baseline overall team and the settings will be locked for competitive gameplay (pinpoint pitching, ect.) Difficulty setting locked at Hall of Fame with true PCI and swing timing results.

I would love to see the hard hit outs being tuned into a 50/50 play depending on user controlled defense. No more free outs. Make the person on tje other side of the stick "take the hit away" just like the old baseball expression goes.

I don't want to see the casual players get stuck not enjoying the game anymore so I believe there should be an option for people to play a game mode where it's strictly user skill versus user skill...

The whole premise has been to cater to the casual players, but where is the game mode for the guys who want realistic "hardcore" competition?

Maybe it's a bad opinion, this would completely take away the chance at ruining the ENTIRE game, if you just make a different game mode..

  • Why this game is a disgrace for baseball
  • ericg819_PSNE ericg819_PSN

@newplayerone257_psn said in Why this game is a disgrace for baseball:

Who knows how long this post will last, but here it goes:

A game where they claim to be a simulation of real baseball, and then:

Professional Pitchers have less control over their target than little kids playing in the elementary league. Honestly I'm surprised how mlb figures allow these developers, to portrait them in such a shameful way about their performance. Then they came out with this new pitching mode that seems you are transcribing sorcery with the left stick instead of focus as in your next pitch, which is what a normal pitcher does after throwing the last one.

They favor in their engine a hit mode where all you need to do is place your marker in a certain zone and press the button when it comes. Their millionaire budget didn't came across anybody, to tell them the process of swinging a bat its a single action to your brain. Batters are not snipers to use crossairs, not in their minds or any other way. On the other hand, the directional hitting mode, is highly punished, you hit broadway center balls at almost perfect timing and you can choose an ample menu from:

popups, short fly balls, silly catch' em up bouncers, and right at him liners. Anyone who has seen at least 3 baseball games, knows this is impossible to happen even in the tuesday night neighborhood league.

Then, they mock your love for baseball with the who knows based on what reference timing window to hit the ball. Why? because the timing of the breaking balls is so slow compared to the fastballs, that if you wait to see if the ball is breaking, you are never in time for the fastball:
newsflash devteam, the whole purpose of the breaking balls is for you to confuse them with the fastball , because of their BREAKING, not the difference in speed. Actually, a too slow breaking ball, losses their entire effectivity in the trained eyes of a professional batter, no matter how many 97 mph fastballs they just faced. Its a fact, the window of time difference its just too great. Another horrible fact, is that the pitch paths are just wrong, sometimes the ball even dissapears Some times I have pressed the button, only to expectate how my batter does nothing but a delayed swing to justify that : "it blew it fast by him!" I mean, what a joke.

Then, there is the fact of the supposedly enforced code of conduct. You are still allowing people to desync and spam the game, just because you are afraid of losing users over 40+ in a row strike outs and 20+ homers over their pitching: Be real with the kids and younger who play baseball, baseball its a hard game to play well, there is no other way to learn that receiving strikeout after strikeout, and homer after homer. Its clockwork, I had games where I have hitted even 5 homers, and I have lost. Why? because they start spamming and desyncing the game, all of my pitches end up right down the middle when I specifically put them anywhere but, and when Im hitting, I'm lossing frames in the animations, specially when my power hitters are due up.

You are enabling , enforcing and supporting a platform where kids:
Think its the right thing to do cheating shamelessly to win
Disconnect their cable from their network outlets when they are being hitted around, after finger fatigue on the cheating maneuvers. No temporary ban or the like for such a nasty behaviour.
Think that if they buy you stubs, things are great: I have played with players who obviously have spent extra money on the stubs, and the moment I give them to straight strikeouts in a row in the first inning, I suddenly start losing control of the pitch target, (I pitch using classic mode) and the ball lands in the center no matter what.
You are making them believe that the mind process with the crossair is appropiate to play baseball. You are just destroying the american and all around the world baseball tradition by making them think they are aware of how to think in a baseball game.

I wish I had a way for you guys to return my money, and gladly I will uninstall the game from my ps4. Is a shame, that people like you had the budget and the change to make a baseball game, only to make this disgrace. You are destroying the sport.

There is no consistency between games and that's because we are all victims to the hitting engine keeping the games within realistic baseball stats. I think we can all agree that the hitting is a simulated experience and it's up to the game whether or not you get a hit...

  • Hardcore Ranked Seasons?
  • ericg819_PSNE ericg819_PSN

I play a video game to manipulate the results. So when I square up a baseball and a guy doesn't have to move for an out, that's [censored].

The hitting results are randomly generated by the game based off of baseball stats. It's not based off of what you actually did with your swing.

I am looking for a game mode that is strictly based off of user-based skill.

All this "that's baseball" and "sometimes this happens" is for the birds because we are not playing a 162-game season against someone we are playing one time to see who is better.

Sure all of these excuses work when playing the computer in a 162 game season, but when you are just going online head-to-head against one personpersonit, it should be your skill versus there's. NOT what the game randomly decides is okay this game

I played online rated for years and was always in the top 100 but I found to have the same problems.

I guess I just don't know enough people to play in a custom League where the sliders are adjusted correctly. How do I find them?

@superfly2789_psn said in FIX CONTACT SWING!:

On the bright side there are a lot of trash players in division and championship series that abuse it. I find even with contact swings they are easy wins. A lot of them still have trash discipline and you can get bad contact just out of the zone.

The issue is when you run into a good player that contact swings the whole game.

Well this just turned me into an elite player because all of my swing-and-misses have turned into foul balls. I can't believe I have been missing this.

I am 3-0 in the event and 2-0 in ranked seasons since making the switch to circle swing(contact)

yes of course, my two main modes are custom leagues and online rated.

I got so mad today I didn't pull a Jesus Luzarado and broke the disc instead 😂😎 I uninstalled too. It's raining and all I wanted to do was enjoy my day off playing but that probably won't happen ever again LOL

If you send me an invite to a guaranteed correctly slider adjusted custom league with great competition, I'm in.

Great game? Lol. Why did Jesus Lazerado break his hand playing this game? MLB player thinks it's a mockery, cause it is.

User input doesn't control the outcome of the game, Mathematical equations are needed to justify contact results.

That's not what happens in real life either, MLB players are paid and are in the big leagues to GET HITS when they time the ball correctly and put their barrel to the ball.

If you play the computer and enjoy collecting virtual cards, this game is for you. PVP is broken

Hey man, what version do you like the most since the newer ones you aren’t liking ?

The show 12 H2H hitting rewards were the best. Obviously a ton of other problems but yeah it was before online really took off and DD didn't exist.

All of these problems that people complain about is not something crazy complicated to fix. All they have to do is adjust the sliders on foul balls and solid human hits

Be honest with yourself and think about how many foul balls you get per AB on terrible SWINGS. Really not a hard concept for people to be rewarded for a good swing and penalized for a bad one.

My point is that there are multiple chances PER AB, for the user to record an out.. Rather than having a good timing/contact swing go for an out.

The worst part about squaring up a ball and recording an out in this game, is that 95% of the time you hit it right at someone. What happened to the old expression "he took that hit away"

Literally all they have to do is tune the sliders and then the user well feel like the outcome is in their control. It would eliminate 90% of the complaints..

This year's game really did a good job weeding out the Simulation Franchise players from the casual online people.....Franchise and its core gameplay is the best it has ever been and I'm guessing from all the complaints about servers and losing DD pokimon cards, you online arcade players aren't happy. So I hope this continues going forward, keep maturing the Show into a Simulation baseball game instead of a simple pick up and play card collecting arcade game. Thanks SDS!

Of course a clown such as yourself attacks a person's character and totally ignores all topics of discussion..
I know it's such a terrible concept for you to imagine people being penalized for a bad swing and rewarded for a good one.

If that makes it an arcade game then so be it. You are playing a video game against another human being, user input should be the deciding factor.

If people wanted to see a random result from a baseball hitting a bat, then they would watch a real game. If we wanted a simulated baseball experience, we would play the computer.

There's absolutely no reason why people are being punished for good timing and contact, then get rewarded for terrible swings with a foul ball or weak base hit..

You don't need to have your PCI near the ball to hit a HR and you don't even need to have good timing or be anywhere near the ball with your PCI to get a foul.

It's because of people like you, the bunt cheese becomes a factor every few years and why the game is stuck with these sliders settings.

Why not just create a separate ranked seasons mode where user input is the key? That way clowns like you, who need bumpers to play the game, can still play against other people and feel good?
