Hardcore Ranked Seasons?
-
I think everyone by now, has unfortunately been the victim of a very late swing and terrible PCI placement home run... I wholeheartedly believe this is a simulated baseball experience, not a baseball simulator
I genuinely love this game, and the content has been absolutely fantastic this year! I have been playing since 2006 and I probably won't ever stop. My complaints and suggestions come from a place to make user experience better, not to be a hater.
I think we can all agree that the hitting is broken. There is no consistency between games and that's because we are all victims to the hitting engine keeping the games within realistic baseball stats...
What does everyone think about a hardcore ranked Seasons, where the rewards are the same but just given to you at a lower number of wins?
In this game mode you would have to have a baseline overall team and the settings will be locked for competitive gameplay (pinpoint pitching, ect.) Difficulty setting locked at Hall of Fame with true PCI and swing timing results.
I would love to see the user controlled defensive plays taking away base hits instead of lazy Fly balls or hard hit line drives right at people for free outs. I think we can all agree that the hitting is a simulated experience and it's up to the game whether or not you get a hit.
That's why you don't have the same results on the same swing every time. I understand that's baseball but this is a video game and I beleive we're not looking for a simulated baseball experience, we're looking to see who's skill is better.
In my opinion, if I wanted to see a random pitch result, I would just watch a real baseball game. What's the point to play a video game if what you are doing doesn't control the outcome?
I don't want to see the casual players get stuck not enjoying the game anymore but I believe there should be an option for people to play a game mode where it's strictly user skill versus user skill...
-
So based on your post, the random results is intended and they’re doing wrong coding for the F of it? They could just program results to be 100% accurate if they weren’t so lazy? Yeah, ok...
-
Yeah I am saying the coding is to keep all of the stats within baseball realistic numbers. That's why you don't see the same results when you have the same pitch in the same location
If I wanted to see a random result from a baseball hitting a bat, I would just watch a game.
-
I play a video game to manipulate the results. So when I square up a baseball and a guy doesn't have to move for an out, that's [censored].
The hitting results are randomly generated by the game based off of baseball stats. It's not based off of what you actually did with your swing.
I am looking for a game mode that is strictly based off of user-based skill.
All this "that's baseball" and "sometimes this happens" is for the birds because we are not playing a 162-game season against someone we are playing one time to see who is better.
Sure all of these excuses work when playing the computer in a 162 game season, but when you are just going online head-to-head against one personpersonit, it should be your skill versus there's. NOT what the game randomly decides is okay this game
-
Well of course the game somewhat randomly decides outcomes out batted balls. Thing is, if you square up more balls consistently than your opponent, you should normally have far better results. So that’s essentially user skill benefiting.
They kinda have no choice to keep stats somewhat realistic. Fact is, it’s alot easier to square a ball in a game than in real life. Nobody wants to see guys with lineups of players all hitting above .750
That’s how the very best of the best players are able to overcome the randomness by have much better swings (user input) than the majority of the player base. You look at their teams and average between .350-.400
-
I would love to see lineups of guys hitting above .750 then I know I would be playing a true simulator. Also remember I am suggesting an entire different game mode for this...
Playing on Hall of Fame the PCI is pretty small and the pitching is pretty fast. You could shrink the PCI even more and make the pitching more sensitive.
I understand what you are saying, and that's why I am asking for hardcore ranked seasons so it won't penalize the everyday casual player.
Plus we would see more of the best players playing one another, instead of seeing them beat up on some fool who doesn't understand and the hitting mechanics and quirks of the game

May I ask where you are sitting in RS? I’m just curious. You must be up there?
-
I keep getting to 780 and then losing, right now I'm at 725.
I destroyed my record this year with rage quits because of the hitting. Once I see the writing on the wall, I just leave the game to save my sanity. Getting 40 wins for the rewards pushed me to quit eaiser too
The game is fine, the content is great. I would just like to see a new game mode for people that want to play competitively

Was just curious since you are asking for a more competitive mode where good players don’t “beat up on noobs”. I assumed you were 900+ that’s all

I usually am but this year I haven't had the patience to play through the nonsense.
I see you have a World Series tag, and I would totally play you right now if you want.. just so you can see I should be in the 900s

I believe you. And I get by with my pitching more than I do hitting. I’m not bad (around .320 I think) but my pitching is better
-
If you’re playing on HoF and losing to scrubs usually on AS, that means you should beat them since the higher ranking determines the difficulty, or you’re losing to players in your weight class or above.

I don't understand? It seems to me tha5 when I play guys that are still on the all-star setting, they end up with a huge PCI and mine is small(gigity). I see this as a way of balancing the game, that's why I am asking for a different game mode to not to penalize the casual players

Those are great numbers bro. I only have 4 guys on my team that hold a .340 average for more than 100AB.
I can promise you that I am not a better hitter with different players.. I have the same reaction time and my fingers move the same
Also want to point out that I collected the entire live series, so my team is loaded with studs.

See I only have one guy that’s below .300 right now and that’s Finley for some odd reason. Posada and Goodrum are still hitting over .400
Oh I wouldn’t put much emphasis on opponents feedback. That was broken years ago and I wouldn’t be surprised if it still is. Especially the PCI size. I’ve seen streamers play on Legend and it still shows PCIs being the size of the strike zone on opponent feedback. Even if they were contact swinging, there is now way that’s accurate.
-
That's very good to know, thanks for the info because I had no idea.
I can't get Finley to hit above .275 so it's the card. My Soriano is hitting .203 while my live series Jose Ramirez leads the team at .330 [minimum 100ab]
I just got Trout, Ortiz and Chipper so I don't have enough ABs with them to see anything yet.

Where spot in the batting order do you hit Goodrum?

This is the first year that difficulty advantage goes to the higher rank. The player under 700 has the smaller PCI and higher pitch speeds like you do. And yes, like the other guy lower said, feedback is iffy. Yours is usually correct, but the opponent is approximate from what I can tell from my experience; of course, can’t speak to other’s

8th lol. Benched Soriano. Couldn’t do it
