    What monitor should I get?
  • E eelnirad_anglo

How does a monitor make a difference? Does it negate the errors that randomly happen in the game? Does it remove the pitches you throw perfectly on the outside corner that end up right down the middle for an opponent HR? Does it really allow you to catch up with any pitch that the AI has decided to call a swing-through? I mean, does a monitor, TRUTHFULLY, make any difference in the otherwise inconsistent and obvious code dictated outcomes of this game?

Because there will be people reading this posts that will believe this is true and spend money, perhaps they don't really have to blow, on devices that likely won't make any difference in this game...just because folks are saying it will.

I don't disagree in theory a gaming monitor should make a gaming experience a bit faster, but does it really change anything in MLB the Show? Call me skeptical.

Well, at least they're finally taking the plunge. Should be interesting.

Nevermind, I found it. Yeah, appears to be quite a bit different than the EA offerings. In those, players actually make money...sometimes lots and lots.

Evidently, the proceeds in The Show's Tourney are like a charity. From the link - hat will be followed by a playoff and World Series, with money going to various Boys & Girls Clubs in each player’s city.

I assume, don't know for a fact..but it appears, the reason this might be is because they can't conduct it as a cash tourny because it's not a "for real" competitive game. I'm sure there are stipulations, legalize, and what not that come into play in any type of money event. Perhaps The Show doesn't follow the proper level of authenticity? Or, maybe, SDS doesn't endorse money tournaments.
    Who knows?

I dunno, but it's pretty cool that ESPN2 might carry some of it. Should be interesting to watch.

Idk where you get your info, but no, it's not like a charity, the winner gets the $, they don't have to donate any of it.

The charity one I mentioned was a Draft Kings thing a couple months back.

Just asking, 'cause I really don't know. For sure MUT and FUT have BIG $$ tournaments. It's become the core, and main attraction, of the game for many.

If The Show doesn't...why do you fellow forum folk believe they do not?

And, let's try to be fair and rationale. Not just because "tournaments are dumb and SDS is smart". Offer up some fair and critically thought rationales.

Perhaps our collective responses would be beneficial to the developers moving forward. It's an undeniable fact that EA's tournament presence and the residuals are, likely, more than any marketing mechanism SDS has ever employed.

Hopefully, SDS can work on this aspect of the game that is sorely lacking. But, brothers and sisters of the forum...this is our moment to make a difference. Let's share our thoughts as to why, maybe, The Show are $$ Tourneys are not a thing.

  • E eelnirad_anglo

I like to use him at catcher.

Now, hear me out. He does ring up some passed balls. Doesn't throw out a whole lot of baserunners attempting. But, what he does do better than any positional catcher...hits like a SumBeach.

Most catcher's in this game have a hard time hitting their weight. So, drop a position player in there at catcher now and then. They more than offset their deficit with proficient offense.

Just to clarify... You no longer play the game, but you waste your life — and ours — by trolling these forums to whine about how you couldn’t hold leads so the game must obviously have been out to get you?

    I hate you.

Nope..I post here in the hopes of offering a voice for the voiceless. The naïve and downtrodden that believe there truly exists competition in this game. They get angry at their selves for not being better. They get depressed...they internalize their losses. Hopefully, it doesn't extend further than that.

But, I hope myself and many out here with similar convictions can paint a true picture of how this game works. You lose because the software dictates it so. You win for the very same reason. Never..ever..fault yourself or abilities for something you have no control of.

Many of us crusade for the oppressed, we do our very best to deliver truth. That's all. I apologize for trying to help people..it's just how I do.

What is your definition of "conspiracy theory"..and then compare it to what lengths a software gaming company would go to market a game.

Especially to market a game to give it the best possible posture. that it is competitive and purchasing additional cards will help you, the customer, be more competitive.

If a sports gaming company isn't able to create an online environment that creates the illusion of competition...it will fail. Who would go online and play a complete stranger KNOWING the code decides the outcome? Rhetorical question.

The vast majority of players don't visit a site like this, so no, creating an "illusion" on this forum doesn't keep the game from "failing"

How in the world can you make that assessment? The vast majority? C'mon you know you pulled that straight out of your

I didn't pull that out of nothing.

As far as strikes go...most contracts anymore have "no strike" clauses. Of course, you probably already knew that, huh?

  • Who believes this

Well, you are wrong about AFSCME for sure. Union biz is done during Union time. If it doesn't align with your work schedule you're allowed to take Personal time to attend. So, I'm not going to argue with someone that could very likely not even yet be in the workforce.

But, fact remains..probably no action the Left could have spawned more self-damaging than the "peaceful protests" (AKA riots and racisim). It cost them the election. And, over the next 4 years...you're going to see much more Federal presence and force when these vile acts of terrorism are attempted.

Enuf about politics..how 'bout them Cubs?

  • Suspended?
  • E eelnirad_anglo

    @BughOTTE said in Suspended?:

Hello! As a content creator who has always been positive and all for making the MLB the Show Community a better place, I am wondering why I got banned. My team name is Prestige Grinders, which tells people that I'm using the people that I'm using to grind their stats. I could use better players, (Chris Sale, Rob Dibble, etc.) but I don't because they are not prestigable. I played about 10 events games on stream today. 2 Notable Games. 1 where a guy asked for a hit with Jackie (I believe?) and he got it. Lucky guy... He quit right after the hit. Secondly, I beat a guy 15-1, but I don't know why I got banned for scoring runs while he was running away from baseballs.

I really don't know the means to why I deserve a ban for this. I have really big plans to positively encourage this game over the weekend and spread the good vibes with a 24 hour stream I've been planning for weeks. If I am getting banned for taking the stats that I never asked for, but instead received, I have no idea why I'm in the wrong. This very much shocks me, as there are many other people who do this, and are never punished.

Once again, if you've ever seen my streams, I'm hardly ever complaining about the state of the game, but blessed to play MLB the Show 20, as a proud supporter of many of the games that Sony San Diego Studios have put together. I strongly recommend that my account at least gets looked into over the past 40+ games to show that I have not boosted, and that they can unlock my account for this stream that a number of my Twitch supporters have been working towards. Thank you for your consideration.

    I have screenshots as necessary.

I just don't understand what freakin' difference it makes. Your entire team of prestige players could (and would) lose to any random gold team. Card ratings are pretty much meaningless.

Don't know if you can sell the prestige players, but even if you could it's just fake stubs. Not like cash in the pocket.

They have no money tournaments, that I know of, so you would get no benefit there...even if card ratings were meaningful...and that's a HUGE IF.

Sounds like you're beating yourself up for no reason. This game is a cluster anyway, take some time off and think about how unimportant it actually is...from what you wrote it sounds like you got a pretty busy life and shouldn't let this game be an anchor.

You've likely never worked in a union shop. But, you like to talk about it as if you know.

In union shops you are not allowed to conduct union business, send union emails, texts, etc. during company time. Union meetings are conducted during non-working hours. My dad was a union steward for years with a state agency. It was a disciplinary offense (up to instant firing) to campaign, protest, hang political signs, collect $ for fund raisers, protest, kneel for a candidate, whatever symbolic silliness that was obviously supporting a political ideology on company grounds.

SDS treats the fans better than any sports gaming company. There’s no debate. Are they perfect? Far from it. Way better than EA and it’s no contest.

That's like saying John Gacy is better than Jeff Dahmer...because Gacy only killed his victims he didn't eat them too.

I disagree, solely because you can’t win a tournament running one play with a left handed punter at qb. I’m not gonna sit here and tell you there not on some bs at all, cause they definitely can be. Compared to EA though, it’s not close at all. EA has been that Midpack since MUT. SDS has only one definitive poo stain and that’s 18.

You actually exploited the biggest difference between DD..FUT..and MUT. In MUT and FUT you have to actually keep track of 11 players. In DD you control the batter or pitcher...the rest of it is just chance. Defensive fielding plays are pretty much given by the AI..or taken by the AI in the form of random errors.

So, imo, there is much more of a chance of the player behind the controller making a difference in the outcome in FUT or MUT. Because there are so many more opportunities offered with 11 potential players to control.

Also, why the cheesy gadget plays work. An opponent just can't keep track of all the multitude of potential plays that result in 11 v 11. So, if you invest enuf time and pay attention you can eventually design nearly unstoppable plays.

Possibly (and I speculate) why FUT and MUT have multi-million dollar tournaments and The Show has nothing like that.

It just isn't dynamically feasible to have a tournament where you, the player, do nothing more than swing at a ball..and the AI decides whether it's a hit or not Number one..it would be boring to watch.

If you honestly believe this game has some sort of nefarious comeback logic programmed into the code that completely takes the game out of your hands, then why are you wasting your time playing it (and then wasting even more time whining about it on the forums)?

I don't play it. I quit playing it a couple weeks ago. I feel a responsibility to show solidarity with the others on this forum that like to remind everyone this is an RNG. All the promoting and marketing and talking up the next great challenge, and debating who the best catcher is.....it's all BS.

Just need to keep the coalition of skeptics strong. Otherwise the naïve and young will be brains washed with no opportunity to get the real scoop. It's important.

For the record, if you believe baseless conspiracy theories you’re not a skeptic. You’re gullible.

Baseless conspiracy? ha..ha..ha..and one last ha. Whatever.

My arguments are planted all over this forum.

I don’t believe this at all. If you bought the game SDS made their money already. I havnt spent a dime more than price of the game and I Play, visit this forum, and flip on the market hours a day. Maybe I’m missing something but I don’t see how SDS is making money off of me since March when I dropped that initial $60 and they have my full gaming attention 10 months out of the year. If anything I think this forum takes money from SDS because all there is to learn on here is how to generate a stupid amount of stubs without shelling out cash and also that buying packs with those stubs is like lighting them on fire. Before I found this forum I spent all my stubs on packs and I felt like I would have to pay money to get specific players I wanted. Now I’m 100 confident I can get any player I want, when I want without buying stubs, packs or anything. If This conspiracy were true it would be the most incredibly ignorant allocation of company resources in my opinion

I'm wagering most of the extra money spent is in the first month after release. Everyone trying to get that early edge.

That's when cards are purchased, long before folks have gotten far enough along in the game to be stacked with diamonds through challenges and what not. SDS, likely, doubles their sales during that period.

I'm sure after the first few weeks the stubs purchasing craters.
