Why did they revert pitching results to the show 20?
  • EarvGotti_XBLE EarvGotti_XBL

Nah i dont think it's that bad. Good input on PP is still rewarded with perfects for the most part. i actually expected them to nerf it more than they have.

All the offline grinding has definitely messed me up in RS. I really wish they could match up pitch speeds for online & offline so we could get the same reps in while grinding

We shouldn't eliminate skill gap for the sake of protecting the ego's of new players. This is coming from a 1st year player who's getting his [censored] whooped online. Does it feel bad getting smacked around? Of course it does. Will it make you a better player over time? Yes it will.

  • Anyone not feeling rs this season?
  • EarvGotti_XBLE EarvGotti_XBL

With so much grindable content right now, RS just seems less appealing because of the long games and lack of rewards.

For some of us, it's more fun. You're great at the game, congrats, but you're not the only type of player that likes to play.

I’m not really trying to insult anyone…not really that good either. I just don’t like playing easier versions of things.

I get where you're coming from but its difficult to balance realism vs fun in a lot of sports games because the player base is usually super segmented.

You have the hardcore players that get their "fun" from how realistic the game is. Then you have the not as hardcore player base that may love the sport but just want a fun experience. Too much realism can bring down the fun factor at times.

It's a difficult thing to balance as a developer

@raesone_psn said in Number of questions about DD mechanics:

How does a batter's tendency influence an at bat precisely? Are the timing windows for example larger on inside pitches, when the batter's tendency is extreme pull?

I think i found the answer to this question. It was on the Extended Q&A write up on the website:

***What affects the timing windows and what causes them to change so frequently from pitch to pitch?

First and foremost, timing windows vary depending on the location of the pitch and pitch type. You won’t want to swing at the same time on an inside fastball as you would on one away. Players in real life and in our game have hit tendencies that can be viewed on each player card; some are great at pulling the ball, some use the entire field well, and other are good and going to the other way. For example, a pull hitter in MLB The Show would have a slightly increased timing window on early swings and a slightly decreased timing window for late swings which can help when trying to turn on a 100mph inside fastball.***

Another tip that i don't think a lot of people do is after about the first 3-4 innings, go in Pitcher Analysis and look at where your opponent is throwing relative to the zone. You can also see what he throws most as his 1st pitch, when ahead in the count, when behind in the count etc to help with your pitch anticipation. It's a very underrated tool.

Same thing happening to me. Just randomly getting the Lost connection error and I get the loss but my opp gets the W. My fiber internet is fine.

New to The Show so im wondering what's considered a "good" BA based on the game? I know it's much higher than IRL. Anything above .350?

.350 I’m retiring as a Legend. I’m ok at this game currently 37-22 in RS and batting around .250(which makes me feel like the Hulk so back TF off 😁). 350 he says

Yeah i was genuinely just curious because im new so i don't know the avgs from years past. I was just assuming that since it's a game that the avgs would be higher than IRL.

I'd say anything over .250 is good and anything over .300 is great personally

As a new player this year, I would like to know the answers to these questions as well. Other games release detailed descriptions of each attribute for everyone to see as it helps keep the competitive balance. As it stands now, the only players that know how these ratings work are probably the dudes who put in 10,000 hours on this game

  • EarvGotti_XBLE EarvGotti_XBL

While looking at the ball leaving the pitcher's hand, you can usually tell if its gonna end up outside of the strike zone based on the angle it takes. Getting lots of reps is the only way to get good at this. One drill that has helped me is going in batting practice and just tracking the ball with my PCI without swinging. After a while you pick up on the angles of strikes vs balls.

It takes a while to get used to but once you start seeing pitchers like deGrom over and over you're gonna be smacking everyone around

  • Number of questions about DD mechanics
  • EarvGotti_XBLE EarvGotti_XBL

What gives a larger boosts to pitcher confidence...throwing strikes in the zone or throwing out of zone pitches for missed swings? Do they differ at all in terms of confidence boost?

  • HOF is on crack
  • EarvGotti_XBLE EarvGotti_XBL

Trust me, compared to Legend, HOF actually feels really fair. You can at least see a 102mph fastball. On Legend you have to swing as soon as the pitch leaves his hands. It's absurd.

It terms of timing, yes a monitor does help a good bit. But it won't win you games if you're not patience and methodical in your approach.

  • I'm so bored (not a content issue)...
  • EarvGotti_XBLE EarvGotti_XBL

Yeah i really dont have much desire to play on Legend. Hoping the next Event is decent to play online

  • It's honestly amazing how good this game is
  • EarvGotti_XBLE EarvGotti_XBL

Game is in a really good spot. Patience and methodical gameplay is rewarded over hyper-aggressiveness. Strategy is a big factor in winning. The only thing i'd want changed is the effectiveness of that darn sinker. High sinkers are too effective in game and they wouldn't be IRL

  • New update is nerfing high sinkers
