WTF is up with hitting in this year's game?

In year's past I always went between Veteran and All Star for my hitting difficulty and had decent results (about 4-5 runs a game). This year I started on All Star but the last couple weeks I can't hit anything even on Rookie.

I use timing hitting and I've timed so many pitches well that end up being a pop up or a grounder.

Has anyone else had trouble hitting this year or am I just in a major slump?

So I just updated the game to 1.09 and the first game I played was Dodgers vs Padres with the live rosters. I had Austin Barnes catching (98 fielding by the way) and he literally dropped almost half the pitches I threw, most of which didn't even hit the dirt. Has anyone else had this issue since the update? I've never had this issue in any version of this year's game or any past years.
