@halfbutt said in This year in pitching:
So at the beginning of this year, MLB the show 20, I was getting thoroughly beaten in RS using pulse pitching. I’d used it for years, and had only just started learning pure analog in 19.
I found control to be near non-existent and, while pulse has always been a bit more random, I’d gotten used to compensating by aiming a little farther away from the plate than my desired spot. This seemed to work ok in previous years.
This year, I found I could not really hit my spots with any consistency at all and made a commitment to analog full time. It was rough for a while but I eventually found I could locate my pitches better, and could throw the occasional dot.
Now, after a full game cycle of analog pitching, I find I can still walk batters even when I am trying to throw strikes in the zone. I can’t believe how difficult it sometimes is to throw strikes!
Lately, out of frustration, or sometimes when facing a speed cheeser, I’ve been switching back to pulse. Strangely, it almost seems like pulse is more consistent now.
Pitching in this game is so much fun when it works, but this year has been a nightmare. I have 26 wild pitches and 123 walks in 484 IP.
How many of you are having similar experiences?
I've used um all, most say analog is the way to go but I have way better success with meter. To each their own. Also top 100 players this game have a era above 5 so don't give up.
