Nah, its all games now. People just don’t play that many too know. Gran Tourismo was absolutely broken and you probably heard nothing about it. Over the last half a decade I could make a 40 game list I personally played that were released broken.

CyberPunk is the only game I’ve ever heard of that gave a refund, and that was only if you had the PS4 version ONLY. If you had dual entitlement from the premium edition you got nothing.

A lot of things people consider broken about this game are by design.

When WS players won’t play away games for three years, egos are most certainly on the line.

Congrats on getting a console with infinite storage space. Some of us have to delete games to make room to try new games.

You see comments like this often because a lot of players are frustrated/losing interest in the game, and this is a good forum for providing feedback to SDS.

The whole- “i’m uninstalling the game” is used to be dramatic and to emphasize how bored you are with the game. And it’s cringe

I get having legit criticism for the game( I made a thread saying I wasn’t happy with cards being retired after x amount of time) because as much as I enjoy the game that’s something I had a hard time swallowing

But I’ve come around and I actually don’t mind building a new squad and getting their averages up like I did with my original god squad

But threads like yours are just pointless to me- like did you do everything you could do? make World Series, go flawless, become a top 1000/100/50 ranked season player? If you did and then made a thread stating that and saying you’re bored- then I get it. Because you’ve done pretty much everything the game has to offer

Maybe he just doesn’t care about honing his skills and making world series and being at the top of the leaderbords, some people don’t want to be competitive.

And that’s exactly why he’s bored- how much can you play the computer on rookie and still be excited about it and find fun in the game

It’s 2023- online competitive play is the crux of video gaming- for example people that buy street fighter are buying to play online against other humans- they only play the computer to unlock rewards

Compared to when we were young we would buy it and play the computer only or a friend if they were over

playing competitively you tend to want to get better at the game which is challenging but also fun and an accomplishment

If you’re just buying this game to play conquest and mini seasons then yes I can see it getting boring really quick especially if you’ve been playing it for years

The industry thought the same thing about other genres, then BOTW and Elden Ring disproved the whole "gamers just want online" [censored].

Sports studios could easily make offline/single-player content much better, but they don't. If they did, there would be an uptick of players. Just the truth.

I'll modify your statement a bit, though -- online persistent monetization modes are what companies are making. Competitive is a part of that, but not everything.

In MLBTS Ranked seasons- which is competitive play- is by far the most popular mode in the game

Lol franchise is literally multiple times more popular than DD. So is RTTS. Diamond Dynasty is the third ranked mode as far as popularity. They need to minimize the PCI so that the only solution to make pitchers better isn’t just give them 154 MPH pitches. Like I dunno, maybe make movement matter by not allowing me to cover 60% of the plate without moving anything? The simplest solution isn’t always the best.

Two things can be true at the same time. I haven't played a game of ranked in months. I'd get smoked if I played someone on HOF. But I could (I won't) go take BP for a night on Legend and then be much better. So yes, you can get better.

AND the rng in the game can still exist.

I can such and strike out a lot, or get better and make contact a lot. Then when I make contact, the rng does its thing.

But the more I make contact, the greater my chances of winning.

The homeruns from non pci swings still count, as do the perfects that go nowhere. Taking months off and needing a couple hours of BP isn’t “practice” or “getting better” that’s just warming up. When’s the last time you saw a good player grinding BP for hours and hours? When they take 3 months off…that’s it. You’d be better by now if you could get better. It’s been half a decade, it hasn’t happened.

NOTHING should be a requirement. They don’t live up to the “play how you want” mantra they love to mention. It’s more play how you want, as long as what you want is to be required to play how we ask, and what we ask is that you play every mode.

They can’t make fun content and haven’t been able to for years. They just get a 12 year old to throw [censored] at a wall call it a conquest map and give you 50% progress towards a card.

I can’t imagine how many room temp IQ brains were needed to make that Easter egg hunt.

There are still some funky things you can do with a few. And when more cards come out it’ll be even better. Example I’m using the Nolan Ryan (+35 years old) card, and there are quite a few relievers you can sneak in with no real downside. Chapman and Kenley are like Prime versions of themselves lol. There is a 99 Darvish I have boosted to near god tier.

But the one I thought about last night was Halladay. The BB/9 and Stamina seems a bit unimpressive compared to others and for a started almost is.. But imagine a bullpen filled with them. Now you have heaters flying in with better control and you relievers go from 25 or so to 35 stamina. Again almost irrelevant for a starter but for a closer that is honestly a fairly large boost.

The Jeter card is fun as well because there are dozens of captains available. When others have as many potions as him I think it’ll be a great addition.

If you know what your doing. You and the pause timer along with throwing over to first can make a game last upwards of an hour and a half. Some people are just weird like that. Everybody knows who they are putting on the mound next. Nobody needs multiple minutes to decide. MLB managers don’t get that long why does Dave on his couch?

Most card series now are just made up. The Awards and Primes and stuff like that had reasoning. They are throwing darts. Probably downloaded a ChatGPT bot to come up with content.

Why is buying packs always the reason behind everything? They have a pack that lets you skip across the map? They have packs that make pitchers throw down the middle? How are these issues even correlated in anyway to buying packs?

I think they could really benefit from some sort of specific single game stat missions to chase every time you play in either ranked or online. Basically everything kind of gets throw into a big blob called PXP which isn’t as satisfying.

Repeatable missions like 5000 xp for Two HRS with one player in a game or hitting for the cycle, or for a complete game shut out would just make things a lot more fun from a game to game basis.

I still think the Griffey program was the most fun program, was 4/4 with 2 HRS hard? yeah, but you were trying every game to get it and it made every game fun.

There should 100% be a huge bonus for breaking any career stat missions with one player through the year as well. Just things to make it more fun. The content isn’t terrible, but they could do better. Rookie to HOF cards could get brought back but take months to achieve and be a lot of fun to grind out for your favourite player.

The only difference I notice between difficulties is how obvious the ball is outside. On the higher ones the pitch starts in the zone and trails out trying to get you to chase. Change ups land just under, sliders just inside. On rookie it’s a foot outside to make it obvious it’s a ball. It’s BY DESIGN to be easier to read, not because they are scared at the pace rookie players unlock free cards given out by the same Devs.

It’s more of a head game online. The CPU is quite basic. A few tips that really help me online would are

1. Figure out tendencies. Even the better players struggle with one type of pitch or one location. It can even be LHP or RHP. If you find something they struggle with don’t feel bad, keep going back till they prove you wrong. Not that I’m amazing, but I can put up an insane amount of runs until Miller, Hader, Chapman come in and the person I’m playing probably wonders if I just had a stroke.

Same idea with something they do well…which 95% of the time is hitting the fastball, just try to not throw it. I know it’s crazy, but there are people that bat like .800 vs the fastball and .006 vs any other pitch.

2. Stop pitching to the corners everytime. The analog stick basically locks into place in the 4 corners of the zone. If you move the ball two inches down, or left or right, they now have to have the analog input in the exact position needed instead of just jamming it directly to the corner. It is infinitely harder to be in the perfect spot without the analog basically being a bumper pad you can’t go past.

3. Play how you enjoy. If you like small ball, play small ball, if you like moonshots have a team with power. You’ll enjoy the game more and get better when you actually enjoy how you play. I truly miss Edwin and Bautista being in the game because I enjoyed playing with them and as a result played better with them than almost anyone else every year.

4. If you don’t use zone hitting, try to practice and start. And honestly this is probably the biggest thing to improve unfortunately. What worked REALLY WELL for me was playing about half the game on directional, then when I had figured out tendencies from step one, I knew where he was going for the strike out pitch and by the 5th or 5th inning you can just sit and wait. It’s actually crazy how often if you look at the last at bats pitches with R2, the opponent your playing will throw those same 4 or 5 pitches in the same four spots like clockwork. The hard part is certainly waiting on the pitch and not moving the PCI, but seriously, the satisfaction you get from figuring it all out and sending it deep is amazing.

5. Is very niche but it’s the only trick I have against good hitters and the success rate is high but limited. When you play a great hitter, who can see the zone better than you ever wish, save this exact pitch, for the most important part of the game. FB, low, and away, on the corner. I throw this MAYBE 3-4 times a game, and a player that’s looked off 15/15 changes up just below the zone, and 20/20 sliders just off the edge away, get caught looking the first time you throw it almost every single time. You get this ONCE a game, it’s a two on two out in a tied game type of pitch. But it works, it doesn’t work against average/lower players, only the ones with the insane eye.

This manifesto is all pitching because all you can do in this game is try to out score them, by trying to contain them.

Game is alive and well, barely getting less views than Pokémon red, people literally just sleeping, Super Mario 64, Yugioh or RuneScape. Okay sure a game where you walk around as a cat and explore is tripling it’s viewers but that won’t last, wait till the biggest content drop of the years comes and everyone can earn 99s! Surely it’ll be popping then
