I would prefer SDS not emulate/employ anything similar to EA platforms.
Also, there’s already enough discontent with people regarding fake attributes (i.e. future stars), that giving us attribute points to assign just further moves it into fantasy/arcade land.
You’ve got the option now to adjust and make up attributes for a player, donne outside of DD in franchise mode.
EA has its problems for sure, however their content is significantly better. Other than the final divisional rewards and 2 or 3 team rewards their collections are useless by the time you can complete them. Then you get the big collection rewards throughout the year, what 3 or 4 of them? Majority of the collections are just fodder for a bigger collection.
So I will offer that I don’t play madden (don’t care for real nfl either, my last EA sports games were NCAA football), so I can’t speak to how their content specifically plays out. What I’ve seen here and other gaming centric public platforms speaks to the cash grab/micro transaction requirements for their system. They seemed to have pioneered and exploited that style of pay to play/win, whereas SDS you can be competitive and win without spending an extra dollar and there are countless videos showing how to achieve that.
The content has hits and misses (as I’m sure people believe the same with EA), but I think SDS generally does a good job of trying things out, not making all elite cards behind paywalls, and allowing a platform for various types of play for as many people as possible.
No doubt EA has mastered microtransactions. But EA has forums like this as well, and if you are half decent at the game and willing to use the forums you can have the best team without dropping a dime. Madden is definitely geared more for the underground gambling scene. I definitely fell off the last few maddens, but the couple maddens I went hard in I was making enough for the best team possible and then trading the currency over for other game currencies. What I meant by the better content is I feel like at least in Madden, the collections aren't outdated I guess. When you are capable of completing a collection the player reward is still viable. In this game I feel like the majority of collection rewards were useless for most teams and just were there to feed into the next collection, which by the time you got there that player might also be obsolete. Just to be clear I havent played Madden in awhile. I definitely prefer the show, however I feel like collections and content like that madden does it better.
