Were you listed as 5th starter in the rotation at the beginning of the season? I’ve noticed that all teams automatically go to a four man rotation in the playoffs. If this is the reason, it’s a pretty stupid and avoidable one by the developers

I can also confirm that draft position has little to no effect on your getting called up. I’ve had a 14th round and 20th round position player get called up in their first season. The main factors really seem to be overall rating being higher than the highest person at your position on your team. And consistently good play. Definitely don’t sim large quantities of games.

It’s a double-edged sword with the new equipment. On the one hand, the level of the equipment matters less. If you like the look of silver equipment you are punished less for using it over diamond level equipment. On the other hand, you feel less of a flex for having all diamond equipment since the benefits are reduced. My opinion sways slightly more towards liking the new system.
As for activating it, it should automatically add its given percentage to whatever perk it is linked to once that perk is activated in game. Whether it’s working or not, I couldn’t tell you

Yes, more agent interactions would be a nice touch! The mode strives for realism but agent interactions are somewhat unrealistic. Definitely the ability to request a trade would be great. With this in mind, it would be nice to have the ability to call your agent instead of always waiting to hear from them. Some other good interactions would be concerning contracts/arbitration/extensions. You should not be negotiating your salary with the team
Tell your agent what you want, they tell the team, your agent gets back to you.
In this vein, bring back the old manager interactions!! I loved being able to be a cocky little [censored] with the manager and have them bench you for a few games

@theBlindRhino_PSN I’m guessing you weren’t held much as a child. Or you really really don’t like RTTS (or 1B). Or both. Or maybe you just went to the wrong game mode thread by accident and now I’m the one who looks silly.

Make sure you only push the desired base button once. Multiple taps of the button will cancel the throw!

Hahaha!!! That was an awesome response
Thank you, that brightened up my morning!
It’s not the only archetype I create, but it is my favorite. All the same, I appreciate your concern for my well being and thanks for the chuckle
-
First off, I’m sooooo happy to have the points system back in RTTS. I had become so fed up with the archetype system that I had not purchased The Show since ‘22. Now I can be the player I was always meant to be which there was no archetype for: barely scraping by Quad A forgettable nobody
Sounds ridiculous, I know. But for me, it was always the most fun way to play. Keeping my level at a cool 68 hoping I can squeeze onto the roster as an injury replacement. Or get traded to a team in desperate need of anyone to play 2B. All the while, absolutely mashing in the minors. Ehh, again, it’s fun for me.
Does anyone else have a particularly quirky player the like to use?

My understanding is that perks unlock by completing an in-game action related to the locked perk. I could be totally wrong about this. They just seem to unlock on their own as I play through my career.

@papababoo721_psn said in Holy shi*! 120 HZ:
Wait so is that why my game is flashing lights and I am extremely early on every thing in mini season? It just started like two days ago.
It’s because of the reduced lag time mentioned above. Your timing is early because the input of your buttons is much more immediate. Turning of 120hz settings in your system menu will revert you to your previous lag time
-
This would be cool
-
It also happened to me. It seems to be related to the 120hz from the latest patch. When I turned this to off in video settings in the PS5 video and screen settings (not in game settings), it resolved the issue and went back to “normal”. However, although the graphics look worse with the new patch, seeing the ball out of the pitcher’s hand is easier and reaction time is improved. For the time being I am allowing the crappy graphics for a better OPS. This is not how it should be

Like the suggestions! I would only add one thing: TRAINING POINTS!! The archetype system is ok, but with training you points you can create ANY archetype you could possibly imagine. Give us back some control over the type of player we want to be!
-
Training points over Archetype system
-
For sure!! In earlier editions of the game I would put points towards my player and cap myself around the “just good enough for majors, too good for the minors” realm. I would also list my secondary position as INF. This generally gave me a career as a utility infield bench player. I would get around 300 ABs a year and play all four infield positions. Sometimes only used as a pinch hitter or pinch runner. Sometimes as a defensive replacement. Kept the game interesting not knowing what your role would be from game to game. Seasons would fly by as you were involved in maybe 40% of the games. You could easily finish an entire career by the next year’s edition.
Can you imagine SDS ever creating the Utility Bench Player archetype?!
I would love it if they did! -
Yes, keep it simple SDS! Every yearly edition of RTTS just gets flatter and flatter. Keep the super awesome graphics and simple control systems. Lose the extraneous fat and go back to earn some points, spend some points. Control over your player is what made the early editions so fun!
-
Yes, training points all the way! Why bother with the limited archetype system when with training points you can create any type of player that has EVER existed (or even not existed yet
)
-
Is this only on next gen consoles?

I’m interested in compiling a compelling list of improvements for RTTS in ‘22. I’ve read so many long descriptions for improvements and I agree with most. For this thread I was hoping to give single sentence suggestions. Here’s mine:
The ability to create secondary positions for position players in character editing (not two-way secondary positions).
-
Good question! How I imagine it (but it will never be this way) is a combination of RTTS and Player Lock. When you would start a career you would choose between creating a ballplayer or choosing an existing ballplayer. Creating a ballplayer would go as RTTS goes. Choosing an existing ballplayer would leave you at the mercy of the automated player progression. “A”rated ballplayers progress (automatically) faster than “B” rated (so on and so forth). The only difference from Player Lock would really to be able to play any chosen ballplayer with the more fluid home screens of RTTS.
Fringe players, career minor leaguers, rising superstars, going for that 3000th strikeout, etc. The possibilities are endless for the way to play!
