Game coding I believe struggles with a CG due to the pinch hitter moving into the pitcher slot. Basically when someone hits for them the game puts them into the defense slot 1 role

I have enough Stubs to get tatis and finish the nl west or I can spend it on Cole to get the yanks done and grab posada and finish the al central. I’m about to get schwarber but I might put him in the OF
Get tatis, Cole’s overall is gonna keep going down. He’s having a really rough time since the “sticky stuff ban” and when he goes below 90 overall his price is gonna tank. Tatis price is lower than other 90+ cards cause he started below 90 overall but it will keep ticking upward as long as he keeps playing well.
Do you guys think that Tatis’ price is gonna drop at all? Or should he hold his value?
Should hold his value for a bit, but prices will come down for all cards the more 90+ packs get released. Also most cards come down in price due to more people finishing collections. Basically if you have collections done and pull a high card your gonna sell it.

What are some recommendations for gaming monitors to use for the show? I feel like I'm not reaching my full potential in hitting because of the TV I'm using.
For right now I’d suggest just getting a lower priced monitor with a 1ms response time. Also if you don’t have a ps5 but plan on getting one, look for a monitor that will support features that the ps5 has. But my tips would be that I would hold out investing good money into a monitor until there’s a lot more 4k monitors with hdmi 2.1 out there. Hdmi 2.1 is the only input that can run 4k/120, but currently TVs that have it are 1k plus and I think there is only 1 or 2 monitors out currently with it and they are really expensive. If you find a monitor you like that says it’s supports 120fps, make sure the hdmi input supports it and not just the DisplayPort, this is because the ps5 doesn’t have DisplayPort so you would be losing out on getting the most out of your monitor. Also the ps5 does not support 1440p right now, so it’s only 1080p and 4K. Currently there are only a couple of games that support 120fps on the ps5 but in the next couple of years there should be more games coming out.

@collin_sds_psn said in LG OLED for gaming?:
LG C1 is excellent! Also four HDMI 2.1 ports for very future proof.
Monitors are nice but no reason to get anything over 120Hz as no console will support anything higher than that. Having a 144Hz monitor with a console that outputs at 60Hz won't make it the game any faster...
Add that 4k 120Hz monitors are $$$$.
The LG C1 ain’t exactly cheap either lol
But 2 questions for you Colin, 1 are you guys currently working on implementing 120fps for next years game or have things changed now that many games are being reworked for PS4 due to the lack of available ps5’s.
And 2 have you heard about Sony working on implementing a 1440p ps5 patch? Many people in the show community have monitors and the ps5 coming out with no 1440p was a bit of a let down, plus hdmi 2.1 tv and monitors are not cheap currently so it would be nice if there can be a middle ground right now until prices come down.
I would completely understand if you can’t answer the first question as it can be a major announcement for the future game and also not wanting to promise something that is still in development, but would be nice if you can give any sort of insight on the future of 1440p

I've played about 20 games in this current event and almost every team has trout. I'm so confused. It's like every team I've faced has already completed all of the live series collections. Has anyone experienced this? I'm playing against the same diamonds every game.
Haven’t played an event game yet, but not too surprised there’s a lot of trouts. Combo of things, games been out for a bit now, F2P players that work the market have probably earned enough to get him, and it’s also dependent on your rating, if your winning a good amount your gonna play good players and many, if not most higher up players have live series done

Online play is terrible. Who wants to play a 40+ minute game where you get nerfed so hard that it is more like work than play? Play terrible opponents that strike out 15+ times in a 9 inning game only to lose because you were nerfed and they got buffed.
If your facing people that strike out 15+ times a game and still losing you need to practice more and get out of the lower divisions. Yes there’s issues with online play, but most people are able to play their way out of the lower levels without much issue.
Also it looks like all you’ve done in these forums is push conspiracy theories and complain about the game. Since clearly this game is affecting your emotional and mental sanity, you made the right decision to delete the game. Now just get away from the forums and move on. Unless this was all a troll job for attention, if that’s the case tho, you should still delete the game and move on for your health.

MLB The Show 21 is a goofy money grab carnival game. The primary objective here is to get players to spend more money, not to enjoy an experience.
Gameplay will not improve, they need us chasing the pipe dream of perfect/perfect bliss. They give you just enough success to keep you coming back.
Everything is a hustle. Stubs. Packs. Market. Etc.
If gameplay becomes consistent players will achieve mastery and revenue will go down.
I just wanted to play a fun baseball game not be scammed an hustled after I paid $100 pre-order.
Money grab carnival game? Lol this game is the best sports game when it comes to not having to pay to have the best team. They give out so many packs for free, and some of the top cards are free and all you have to do is play the game.
And by the way they made it even easier by making World Series and BR flawless packs available for people who are not great at the game, so what part of it is a money grab to you exactly?

There is no reason that any non-sellable and non exchangeable card or item should be able to be chosen more than once. People will have the same issue with team affinity 2. Submit a report. I did a month ago and ..... .. crickets
I mean you could just pay attention to what your doing and not select one you already own. SDS cant magically change the choice packs to only allow you to select ones you don’t own, it would probably cause an issue with all choice packs. Sorry but you’ll just have to wait for them to have time to fix your mistake.

Nothing of what you said is wrong but that doesn’t make it right either. I don’t play DD because I don’t have the time to grind and build a super team and I’m not paying for stubs just to be competitive so in stuck playing what I’m playing or playing the CPU which I don’t do. I don’t have much problem beating the top teams with an inferior team obviously but it’s annoying so im gonna express that.
But your just complaining to complain. Your issue is something that is never going to change, hence the 20+ year example I gave. I get the issue with not grinding DD, but nothing is going to, or will ever change in your game mode unless SDS makes you play with all 30 teams once before you can play with the same team again, but if they do that you’ll complain about not being able to use the Phillies.
Also you complained about everyone caring too much about their rank record, yet you literally started your post with “Let me start by saying I’m 63-8 in regular online rated play” and even in your response to me you say “ I don’t have much problem beating the top teams with an inferior team obviously”. Your complaining about people caring about their record, yet your so proud to boast about your record, does that not seem counter productive to your own argument?
I stated my record so people didn’t think I was complaining because I couldn’t beat them, it’s pretty simple if you think about it. And honestly I’d much rather be forced to play with every team than having to play the same ones over and over. This was a rant post, you didn’t have to comment. Don’t like what I’m saying you can just not respond.
Or you can just not post it in the first place if you can’t handle a rational response that proves your wrong and calls out the flaws in your posts
I guess you were just searching for sympathy and trolls to argue with. Sorry I ruined your thread by using my brain, my bad

So what are you saying? A lot of people use the Phillies or they see me play with them a lot? Because I haven’t come across a single player I’ve played again yet.
He’s saying you use your favorite team, so many your playing are using their favorite teams as well, also they are some of the most popular national teams.
Also what did you expect? your playing a mode with set rosters so everyone is going to look for the best competitive advantage to help win, this is the same with every sports game. Your issue is the exact reason why DD/my team modes are so popular now, nobody wants to play with regular rosters cause you’ll only play the same 5 teams over and over. This complaint/issue has been a thing since sports games first began 20+ years ago, you every play old school maddon with Michael Vick and the falcons? Every game with friends was either falcons vs falcons or falcons colts. Either accept the game mode for what it is or move on and try a new game mode

@cbpm72_psn said in Fix contact swings:
I have a bit of a theory on this. I don't actually believe it's unrealistic to have home runs hit with contact swing. I actually believe it's realistic. This is because bat speed wouldn't decrease on such swings, but it's about choking up on the bat and getting better control. If a batter squares up on a 'contact' swing and there's a bit of lift or a well-hit liner, then I think there's a chance to go, as much as for a 'power' swing where there's no choking up and the hands are coming through low on the bat with less control (smaller PCI in game terms). I'm sure what this does in game terms is give a the player a chance to use full potential power on a squared-up power swing, but certainly decreases the chance of good contact on off-centre swings which the contact swing would allow. But ultimately, I believe bat speed is still good on a contact swing, so the homer potential is certainly there. I'm sure the game math would give a better chance for a homer on a squared-up power swing vs a squared-up contact swing, but it's a lot harder to square up the power swings so I'm not sure how many people are actually using power swing all the time.
What's interesting is that if people are using contact swing a lot and getting good results (everyone talks about their opponents, but what they are doing is interesting too!), it could be revealing a 'problem' with contact swinging, or it could simply be revealing the fact that swing speed is always there, which I believe to be the case. If we believe 'contact' hitters shouldn't be hitting home runs, then we've got a philosophical problem more than a physics problem. Paul Molitor hit 234 big league homers with a 'contact'-type swing, and that's got to be taken with a grain of salt considering how many games and huge parts of seasons he lost due to injury.
I just watched video of Tony Fernandez hitting a go-ahead home run late in a postseason game (sorry Orioles fans, you probably remember that one). His swing looked liked his swing always does, but he definitely got some lift on the ball. It was swing plane lift rather than upper-cut lift, but the thing is, the bat speed was there. He could have hit a line drive if the bat had come through a fraction higher. He could have hit a bloop if the bat was a fraction lower. Most of the time, these hitters are going to get the bat through the zone with good swing speed. A great hitter can slow the swing down on a pitch that initially fools them and try to make incidental contact, and sure, that can lead to hits as well, but mostly I believe contact swinging is about choking up with good bat speed.
I haven't played online much this year, but I dipped my toe into events yesterday and played around with the three swing types. I managed to hit homers with all three swing types, but I had good squared-up contact on all three. With the power swing, it was absolutely dead-centre in the middle of the tiny PCI, so thanks to my opponent for throwing a pitch I could square up so well. The contact swing homer, I'm pretty sure was an inside cutter that I pulled a little bit (so ball to the slight inside of the PCI) but I was pulling the left stick to get around that ball, so I think it was just a good swing on the pitch that was thrown. For sure I believe swing timing is incredibly important to success with a contact swing, but I think contact will give chances for off-centre and badly timed contact to be in play, but this would come from greater bat control (which I believe would be choking up in a real-life context). Swing speed would still be there. I don't believe it would be represented by swinging slower all that much, because that's really the opposite of good technique.
Pitchers keep arm speed the same for fastballs and changeups. Tennis players keep arm speed the same for flat serves and kick serves. Similarly I believe contact swing is still a 'fast' swing in gameplay context, so if you put a good swing on the right pitch, I believe it'll go (pretty far). Whether or not the mechanic is actually broken to the degree that's being suggested (if I'm reading the forum right, some users are suggesting that contact is giving a home run bonus) I don't know. I'm just saying I believe it's ok and realistic to be able to hit homers with a contact swing.
You make good, rational points that go along with your idea of what contact swing means, but contact swinging is an approach mindset that leads to a physical change in the swing. Your examples of a changeup and tennis swings shows that you don’t quite understand the concept of contact swinging. (I’m not trying to demean you or insult your understanding, I’m just trying to educate the difference). The number one change when it comes to contact swings is that it is designed to just make contact with the ball. Contact swing doesn’t mean to shorten up on the bat, this is an option a batter can do to have more success with contact swinging, but not what contact swinging is. It’s an approach where you “cut down” on your swing to have a better chance. This means not trying to swing as hard, which gives you more bat control to make contact. It’s opposite is of course power swinging, this is designed to swing as hard and fast as possible, but the downside is you have less of a chance to make solid contact. Imagine swinging a hammer at a nail, if you swing as hard as you can it’s harder to hit the nail correctly, but if you swing the hammer slower, you have more control of the hammer to correctly hit the nail.
To address your examples at the end, throwing a changeup is thrown with fastball intent and fastball arm speed with the only difference being the grip and hand motion at the end, that’s what slows the ball down. You had it right with tennis players and their arm speed, but after their first fault, they change their serve to be more slower and more controlled to land it in the box, resulting is a slower serve speed. That’s exactly what contact swinging is meant to do.

Yes people play this game too seriously, but at the same time it’s a sports game where most players have played some type of sport so they know about competition and competitiveness. If someone is clearly out performing someone yet not getting rewarded of course people are gonna get frustrated. You play to win the game.

Only once the batter steps in. Batter can take as much time as he likes to go for a stroll, take a swing or two, and step back in.
So in essentially a dead ball period where there is no play actually going on? And this actually isn’t the case, big league hitters have some leeway but umpires will crack down on hitters for taking to long and well tell them to get in the box. Most levels of amateur baseball have implemented pace of play rules that make umpires crack down on the 1 foot in the box rule. High school is the most strict and umpires immediately tell players to keep a foot in the box at all times when receiving signs. I’ve seen many guys try and take their sweet time doing what your talking about, then the ump gets on them to get in the box, then the guy does it again, ump gets on him again, and then magically the strike zone gets bigger. Never seen an umpire tell a pitcher to throw a pitch tho...
-
@i-iydroponics said in Take R2ing out of the game.:
I dont know what planet yall live on where the pitcher dictates the pace of play lol, do you even watch baseball, as a serial r2er idgaf about your breaking animation, balking cry baby attitude, the batter dictates when he is ready to be pitched to just like irl, you wanna take r2 away and balk home 7 runs a game, im down for that too lol
Everything about this post is incorrect, but it is enough to tell your just a troll. Pitcher has the ball in hand which is why he dictates the pace of play. He chooses when he throws the ball. Hitter has no real say in pace of play, pitcher can step off whenever he wants, hitter can only step out and call time if granted by the umpire. Pitcher dictates how quickly he pitches after coming set, he can hold the set a long time to ice the hitter, or pitch the moment he establishes his set. He can choose to pick off a runner just to ice the hitter longer. I’ve seen guys pick over 4-5 times in a row just to ice the hitter in a key moment. So how exactly does hitter dictate pace of play again? By calling time and stepping out of the box “only if granted by the umpire”, that’s sure seems like the ump has more control over pace than the hitter does, and nowhere near as much as the pitcher....

Just this topic and how they are not recognizing both issues only R2. Which leads me to believe the ones pushing so hard to remove it are probabally the Quick pitch spammers and with R2 out of the way they have a new way to cheese.
Ok, all good. You went off on your post about how no one mentioned input issues when hitting and I was like Umm I legit just did in my post about creating a 2 second freeze to help with this issue. It just threw me off when you said your done with the mode after my post, especially when I seemed to be the only one who attempted to fix both sides of the issue lol but I get your frustration, at the end of the day it’s an exploit that people abuse on both sides, I’ve been r2’d enough to be annoyed by it and I’ve been quick pitched enough times where I wasn’t able to change my pitcher, so I now try and give extra time to opponents before I throw the first pitch their pitcher (unless someone is a bunt dancing, r2 spamming, quick pitching, pause abusing tool) then I quick pitch their pitcher haha
-
@grizzbear55_psn said in Take R2ing out of the game.:
The bunt dancing i was referring too was before divisione were even a thing. I've been to the higher levels before i am well aware. I don't know why people do it now. I've already said this.
I'm ok with having pitches displayed all the time if that is why they are are pressing R2. But niether side should be allowed to effect an input command period it's not just R2 that does it. This is the 4th or 5th time someone has brought up how R2 affects input, but not one of those arguements has acknowleged the fact that quick pitching does same thing to the batter.
I'm done with convo, if this is the direction people want to go with competitive then hell with it you guys can have the mode. I'm tired of watching MP go down the tube over last 5 or 6 years.
I don’t understand how you seem so upset over my post I literally answered and came up with a fix for both sides in my response. If you got upset about me saying higher levels, I wasn’t saying you weren’t a good player but I guess that’s what got under your skin?
I answered why people do it now, because of YouTube and twitch and people seeing it get under people’s skin makes them want to do it to annoy their opponent.
I said no one should be able to affect another users input, that goes for both sides, which is why I responded to both issues of that with a fix, eliminate R2 and have the info displayed the whole time, and when the pitcher steps on the rubber (when pitching options open up) there is a 2 second freeze on pitching inputs, you won’t get quick pitched or not have the option to sub out your pitcher.
I came up with a fix for both sides, solved R2 and solved your issue with people quick pitching you. Your entire response was answered in the post you were responding to, so did you even bother to read it or skimmed through it, saw something you didn’t like and decided to go off and say your done with the mode, even though I had a solution to your problem?

Yes anything you bought digitally from the ps store you’ll still have access to and can be downloaded to the ps5. For madden yes, but I don’t have it so I don’t know if their next gen version is free or a charge. It’s up to each individual studio what they want, 2k has 2 different versions, a ps5 game and a PS4 one, so if you have 2k21 for PS4 you won’t get a free upgrade to the ps5 one, whereas for God of war and some others games, the upgrade is free
