Last year was my first ‘full year’ playing the game. And I had so much time to play: with lockdown, working from home and also a new baby who slept a lot. Now where I live lockdown is completely over, I have to commute to work again, and the easy baby is now a not-so-easy toddler. I just don’t have the time like I did last year.
But I really enjoy the game when I play; so this year I’ll just focus on having fun in RTTS. And as much as they frustrate me, I feel compelled to finish every showdown. And I still want to do each POTM program, and the occasional player program. Oh and I like completing each conquest, and I love the Dodgers so I have started their team affinity. And since I’ll do the Dodgers, well, I might as well attempt to do all the TAs. And then I will be close to getting the XP for each inning program, so I might as well do the daily challenges, including the odd online game to get that xp. So yeah … hardly any time this year.
posted in General DiscussionI used to do it nice and slow and get those 50k exchange points for 3k or less.
Now I'm lazy and do 3x 83 and 3x 100 pointers to get to exactly 50k. Nice and quick
As some dude said above - you choose: do it cheap or do it fast. And what's your goal? Sell the TA Cards for profit, or use them?
With so many packs floating around, and given how easy the RIB Showdown is (those cards still fetch a nice price), stubs shouldn't really be much of an issue these days.
Late to this thread, but I'm a 39 yo old dad of a 13 month old. In fact, it was one week after he was born that MLB The Show was free on PS4. It was my first go at a baseball game since some terrible one I sort of remember playing as a kid - either late 80s or early 90s. All I remember about that game, is most of the time after fielding a ball you could just run around with it and eventually the CPU runner would advance to the next base and you could get an easy out. lol.
I had a moderate interest in baseball (which is rare in Australia) but since playing The Show I am totally obsessed.
posted in General DiscussionI don't think you know what hot take means
posted in Diamond Dynastystarted him too early from the sounds of it.

Didn't even really need the stubs. So think I'll buy him back and just take the stubs hit. Chalk it up to a lesson.
Can't you just get him again via TA4 Conquest and save yourself stubs?
I just assumed that once you get a card through the TA rewards path then that's it, you can't get it again unless you buy it. I am completing the Padres conquest now, but only to ge the last 30 TA points I need to collect the rewards after the Finest Machado. From memory, you get the Finest cards at 50 points, but then there are still a further 60 points to go in TA4 - you can a few pretty lovley choice packs.
posted in Diamond DynastyFor something that apparently happens "almost all the time", I have never seen it.

posted in Diamond DynastyI got him through TA pretty quickly. Could not resist the 200k+ stubs on offer so sold him. Now .... regrets.
posted in Diamond DynastyTo prepare for TA4 I did the Run it Back Showdown over and over and over and sold the cards - you get anywhere from 18k to 30k depending on the market. Then use those stubs to buy cards for exchanges. This was all before the market changed this weekend, but it will find a new normal.
The RIB showdown is one of the easier ones out there. No point doing the TA1-3 showdowns now. They are harder and get you only 20 TA points (24 for TA1). Whereas even 18k stubs should get you 30, 40 or even 50 TA points if you do exchanges smartly.
Boss1 – Down 1-0, 12 outs, 8 batter on 2nd, face Gallen or Lynn
Boss2 – Tied 0-0, 9 outs, no one on, face Hendricks or Gallegos
Boss3 – Down 1-0, 10 outs, 8 batter on 1st, face D Williams or Anderson
Boss4 – Down 3-0, 15 outs, 8 batter on 3rd, face Bauer or Darvish
Fina l Boss – Down (or tied) 20-x, no one on, face DeGrom or Bieber (though so far I have only ever faced DeGrom)
All mini bosses are worth 5 runs.
All pitchers are righties.
What numbers you referring to? What is a "15" PCI? Must be some stat I am not aware of.
I'm still a relative newb.
I'm enjoying TA4 showdown. 6 attempts so far, only two successful runs but I am doing it distracted.
One thing I've noticed - hardly any dingers. In those 6 attempts, I reckon I've only hit three home runs.
I know there are better ways to get 20 TA points, but a 1/3 success will keep me coming back.
posted in Diamond DynastyLess double plays in showdowns
posted in Diamond DynastyYeah, that happened all the time back in '19. Perfect excuse to dashboard if you can't get that hit.
posted in Road to the ShowI don't understand. Explain more?
What does "won't allow me to get outs" mean?

I pulled him twice yesterday along with, right fielder national league...Mookie
Who is the best NL RF to pull? Yelich?
EDIT: oh duh, its Bellinger. m'bad.
posted in Diamond DynastyBut the 5 pack could contain Trout!!! That's what keeps me going.
Though, I did pull him yesterday in a 15 pack. I'd like another one, please.
I foolishly bought 5 headliner packs, like an idiot. As expected, I got zilch. The best was a gold 81 or something.
Then, I doubled down and got a 15 pack. Pulled Trout on the third pack. First time buying packs for about three weeks.
posted in Diamond DynastySorry, another showdown post.
Just lost another one (AL Stage 2, final boss) - all my fault. I came in needing 10 runs at 6-15. I was disciplined, in fact I was even good. Got to 13-15 with 14 outs remaining after a Gallo grand slam. Clarke Schmidt was up to around 65 pitches. I thought "I should take a break, come back to it". Then "Nah dude, you on a roll, keep going baby!!!". But I tensed up. Even with 14 outs remaining, I was already starting to fear failure. Once the fear gets you, you're done. I only got one more hit and that was erased on a double play.
Even with all the magic CPU fielding, and dotting the black etc; every loss comes down to the dude holding the controller. Those who beat these things constantly are not only technically good, but they stay 'zen' throughout it. I can only do that for a limited time.
I'm limiting myself to only two or three showdown attempts a day lately. I'll try again tomorrow.
