I know all the post about the gameplay issues are deserved and posted daily. It’s 2020 and we still don’t have a minimum ping to play.Playing online against someone with horrible internet has to be worse then all the problems put together.

Because why would SDS want to limit who can play online?

Don't get me wrong, playing against someone who lags is probably the worst experience above anything else (even above the fielding issues).

But roughly 30% of Americans cannot choose their internet provider. You can thank monopolistic internet provider practices for that. Now granted, not all of those 30% would be disqualified if there was a minimum ping, but some would, and limiting those people that don't have a choice is a bad business practice.

Would depend how it was implemented. If it was a matchmaking option that just meant it would take longer to get into a match, sure. If it was something where you could see ping and quit out of a match I can't see it working.

You are correct but let those people play each other. The closer the ping for each of the player's the better the experience for both players. There is a reason most games have ping indicators. It simply makes the game better and levels the playing field. In shooters and especially this game, ms matter. Yes, there is probably a code to try to help this as there is in every game but the less that comes into play the smoother the game. Baffles me that SDS has not done this yet. A smoother game for everyone keeps them engaged more. Therefore, probably meaning more stubs for SDS.

A game with 2 opponents pinging 50 is going to be a good experience for both players as long as they are not dealing with packet loss and jitter. One with 50 and one with 150 is probably going to be a bad experience for at least one. Maybe my ping is bad. Doubtful since it hasn't been on any game I have ever played that showed it except for a very few instances like the 2 days in America's Army.

Reminds me of when I played America's Army. Days I was pinging 60 I would get instantly melted and spongy opponents. 2 days I was pinging 160 (not sure why), I was running through opponents and taking bullets like The Terminator.

Sure, that makes sense. I'm not saying a ping based matchmaking is a bad idea, it's not, it's a great idea.

This guy didn't say that, he said "minimum ping to play online", which is completely different.

I agree, we should have separate games based off ping.

We should also have separate games based off:

    • amount of money spent on stubs.
    • whether you like the DH or not.
    • if you are in favor of knucklers.
    • whether you prefer playing in Major or Minor League stadiums
    • what pitching input method you use.
    • what hitting view you use.
    • whether you like Future Stars cards or not.

If there's one thing this game (and by extension the world) needs more of, it is division. Let the internet peasants eat cake.

    Ah, cynicism at its finest.
