I guess it makes sense given the game history. They have been releasing future star diamonds this early for 2 years now. only difference is now we have prospect diamonds as well.
I see them filling in the other young stars that have no diamond yet like:
Yordan Alverez
Gavin Lux
Brandon Lowe
Mike Soroka
Eloy Jimenez
Cavan Biggio
John Means
Dakota HudsonPlayers like Eloy Jimenez, Yordan Alvarez, and Mike Soroka have had successful seasons in MLB. That's much more believable than randomly assigning 90+ diamonds to players that haven't played a single game.
You mean like Casey Mize, Jesus Luzardo, and Wander Franco?
Yes, like those. 2 pitchers whose cards put them in the top 6 rated "current pitchers".
-
This is a dumb move by sds. I think most people would’ve preferred multiple higher overalls of good current players or legends like say a 91 then 94 then a 97 and finally a 99 of cards like say Griffey and miggy. Nobody wants this and it’s kinda disrespectful.
-
This wouldn’t have been so upsetting if we didn’t already have a whole other set of prospect cards of the same players. It would still be very, very dumb, just not as egregious.
Prospects already had their set, so none of them should’ve been Future Stars. That should be only for first or second year young players.
And to people saying the pandemic is the cause of this, Stage 2 has said “coming in the future” since the beginning. This was all planned from the start.
-
I agree with everyone saying its dumb that there are prospects who are also getting a future stars card. I would have no problem with it if these new future stars cards didn't already have a diamond card. Just seems lazy IMO. Although as a Phillies fan, I will definitely take a 95 Bohm. Praying for Kingery as the team affinity future star

I would like to have a poll made, to see what the percentages are that are happy with this.
I am happy with free high diamonds. If you aren't, spend money and buy high diamonds. To each their own!

High diamonds are completely different than fabricated randomly boosted players that have never played in MLB. So, if they made Pepe Alazar again, that's cool according to your logic. Because that's all these cards are. Varying versions of Pepe Alazar. They may as well make a Tony Danza 95 rated diamond from Angels in the Outfield. As long as it's free, right?

They were probably planning on more Topps now type of cards, but without a season going on, options are limited. However, new variations of legend cards would have been better than fake rating cards, imo.
I agree 100%. Is rather have more legend and flashback options. Different years, different. They have soooo many options.
-
Great, more cards with ratings that makes 0 sense. Go back to the rating model from 2017 already.
It’s also very stupid that some players who never played in the bigs will have 2 diamonds card in april.
-
At least it’s only April and we now know we won’t see anymore prospect or future star cards after this!! Still just curious why they don’t make more flashback cards? The Schoop flashback for instance, they do know there are more current players that had breakout years right?
-
I just hope there is a cool collection reward if we collect a certain number of these. I have 14 FOTF and only getting a ballin pack and banner is kind of weak. This collection reward is an opportunity to really get people to grind. Maybe a previously released prospect card or a stud legend.
