If people are going to spend actual money on simply hoping for him then I don't blame SDS for taking advantage of that.

That's akin saying you don't mind gambling companies taking advantage of gambling addicts.

I think you'd be mad (or a gambling addict) to spend money on this game, but just because people do, doesn't mean it's okay for SDS to exploit that weakness.

And yes, i am sure there are a small minority of spenders who aren't addicts and just want to spend some of their discretionary income on the game, but being realistic, the vast majority who do spend have some sort of issue that is exploited by predatory gaming companies.

I've had a 1 mill buy order on him for 5 hours (I was 27th in line).
    I still don't have him.

Haha please keep us updated, mate.

I have the stubs, but the idea of participating in this just makes me feel dirty.

SDS job is to make money. The consumers have the free will to do as they choose.

Now I will say this... I actually LOVE this idea. It makes opening packs more exciting.

However, I will also say that at .007% odds, this is brutal.
Love the idea, just up the odds. Like 20x the odds.

Its not even close to 2K or Madden levels in my opinion. It's still incredibly easy to get a ton of very good cards and tons of stubs completely free in this game.

The 2K comment was very specifically referencing the ridiculously rare drop rate of Witt, which is something 2K has been doing for a long time.

As I also said, it's always been more user friendly than those games, but there are signs it's going in the wrong direction and will eventually be in the same place as those games.

    Here is what 2K does:
They will have the highest rarity tier of their pack contain, lets say:
JR Richard, Mike Schmidt, Toni Stone, and Mickey Mantle

They would advertise the drop rate of that tier to be, quoting their pack odds, <1%

What they didn't tell you was that odds within the tier were not equal and Mantle had significantly worse odds than the other cards

(This year they have at least made the top tier odds as 2%, and explicitly called out the cards that are rarer drops within the tier. A rare case of one of these companies moving in a more player friendly position)

The worst thing 2K does (did?) is their festivals where they put their top meta cards behind exchanges that give the illusion of being grindable at a glance: but if you do the math they are NOT grindable even if you play 24 hours a day. You are required to buy packs, using only currency purchased with real money to gamble for the pieces you need for the exchange.

So yes, SDS is a LONG way from that. But this year has not been encouraging for the future. The Show used to be about earning cards where the majority of your cards came from programs of some kind: XP Path, TA, programs, ranked path, etc. And packs gave you choices of which cards to take. This is clearly no longer the model.

I liked when they put the Kaiju cards in packs in 23. The only mistake was not putting them back in during the forever program so they all became unobtainable.

Well maybe this gives me a reason to open my 500 regular packs and 100 balling packs, nah still not worth it.

I'm guessing he'll also show up as a Weekend Classic reward on the 23rd (like Jasson D last year(.

Says 522 players have acquired the card.

Still 1M stubs, still none available, 60 orders at a million stubs.

    Oh dear.

Does that include the people who have acquired THE SAME card?
Like I bought mine, but it's actually the same card as whoever sold it to me. So does that count as 1 or 2?

How's he been playing? I've been enjoying the new Wagner personally but Witt is fun and has a nice swing.

That’s crazy. It’s like a chase card with worse odds. Strange experiment this time of year.

This is a test run. The more money people spend, the more we'll see this.

The SDS2K era is about to begin. Get your wallet ready.

Haven't tried him online, and have only 2 ABs with him offline on All Star. 2 swings, 2 perfect perfects. 1 single, 1 double. The double I expected to leave, but ended up being more of a lower line drive than it should have been.

Love the swing, will try him online... hopefully during WC (struggling to play a full 9 innings online with my schedule, so have been sticking mostly to events lately).
