This might be a dumb question, does anyone know how the velo works on the changeups in RTTS? When you "add" velo, what does it actually do because it doesn't appear to be the same as a Splitter, Forkball, etc.

Has SDS ever explained the algorithm for how it works?

@parky_8_PSN Unlike all other pitches, 'adding' velocity to a changeup makes the MPH go down.

If you know how a changeup works IRL, skip this next bit. In baseball, a pitcher throws the changeup with the same arm action as the fastball .. just slower (hence, change). Ideally, you want your change to be between 10-15 MPH slower than your fastball. If it's too slow, the batters have time to adjust to the difference and hit the tar off the ball.

Now, in RTTS, I'm not sure if there is a 'too slow/fast'. If my fastball is maxed out at 99, I tend to keep my change at base level. If you're not going to put too many tokens into your fastball, you're going to want to invest some in your change. You don't want a 100 MPH fastball and a 70 MPH changeup.

So TL;DR .. adding to velo makes the MPH go down. 😉
