Why restrict equipment now in RTTS?
-
Most everyone here knows I am boycotting SDS and consequently refused to purchase MLB 26 -- interrupting a five-year string of purchasing each release of MLB The Show. That said, it seems quite clear there is a serious issue in the way SDS continues to play out their primary offline game mode.
The reason that issue has not been raised here is because most folks who played RTTS gave up thinking SDS listens to customer complaints, and SDS's actions validate that observation.
The issue is plain. RTTS being an offline mode, and equipment having little at all to do with the attribute level of avatar players, there is no excuse for SDS to continue to restrict equipment assignment options to the avatar player the customer uses in that game mode.
Your competition at EA Sports, yes that same company that has so outraged their customers that they have been sued multiple times, realized this idiocy years ago. Both Madden and CFB titles allow customers to access the entire array of equipment and outfit their avatar player in their game modes that mimic RTTS.
Is this really a paywall thing for SDS? Or is it lazy code that SDS refuses to alter long after discontinuing to link equipment to performance attributes? Frankly, given how SDS has chosen to do things of late, either reason is likely true, and perhaps even both.
Regardless, this complaint still simmers. Go check out the MLB The Show Reddit forum if you don't believe me. Can SDS allow at least the offline game modes to be played without monetizing them, or restricting equipment options at all! They really need to, but one wonders if they will do so.
