Hello everyone I just wanted to bring up a point aabout Tino Martinez as a new legend. By the way I am a Yankees fan an I loved tino when he played. Why the hell would SDS go and get another yankee first basemen who is a leftie that kills righties. There were so many better options for Yankees legends who’s rights were probably similiar prices such as Bernie Williams, Chuck Knaublock, Paul O Neil, Alfonso Soriano (I pray to god he comes into this game), Andy Pettite, David Wells, Thurman Munson, David Cone, and even Mark Teixeira would ha be been good because he’s a switch with good power vs both sides. Notice none of these people were all time greats because people like DiMaggio and Jeter would be pre launch marketing type players and cost way to much to obtain mid season so I am being realistic. In my opinion this was a terrible legend to add to the game because we already have Giambi and Mattingly who are the same and both on the Yankees. And besides Yankees there’s Mccovey and many more lefty batters who are first basemen righty killers. Any of the legends I mentioned would have been much better choices and I think most people will agree. Lastly the only hope for this Tino card is that he was rights were a packaged deal with the other good Yankees from the 90s who were always great but never Jeter or Rivera caliber. We have seen this in the past because when Babe Ruth’s rights came into the game in 18 a few more old time legends came with him.

Soriano's best year was as a Chicago Cub, or even his 40/40 season as a National. I don't think he would be a Yankee card.

If we want to talk about the team guys will be remembered first, of the list you wrote, Knoblock was a Twin first, O'neill was a Red first, Wells a Blue Jay first, Cone was a Royal & Met first and Texiera was a Ranger & Brave first.
My point is every guy who played for the Yankees won't be a Yankees card just because that's one of the biggest fanbases.

Everyone mentioned outside of knoblock & Tex is remembered as a yankee first. You named 3 guys who are part of the best teams ever put together. Oniel & cone are currently yankee broadcasters and even in cones book he acknowledges that all though he started a royal he’ll be remembered a yankee. Wells was so mad when the yanks traded him for Clemens bc his favorite place to play was NY. I understand they played on different teams in there career but they made history in pinstripes and for that alone they’ll always be linked first. Heck you could make the same argument for Tex who played in NY for 9 years (most in 1 place) and winning it all in 09 same for Arod. All those guys would definitely have some form of yankee card look at mike piazza his best card is always a Mets one.

David Cone's three best seasons was as a Met. David Wells best season was in 2000 as a Blue Jay.
I don't remember Cone or Wells or Texeria as a Yankee first and foremost. You likely just remember them like that because you are a Yankees fan.
I grew up when Griffey Jr. was a Reds player but I wouldn't claim to remember him as a Red. Same with Mike Mussina. He did great things as a Yankee but most would/should remember him as an Oriole. People won't remember Pujols as an Angel even though thats where he passed 500 HR or set many other milestones.

Mattingly does not have the same power and I don't even think he is in the game yet. Giambi cost about 200k stubs and those stubs have to be locked in where as you can sell Tito once that card becomes irrelevant. Giambi also has garbage defense
