How are you doing with the XP Reward Path?
-
But the boss shouldn’t be a participation trophy.
But it historically has been. It has been what you get for just playing the game- no direct goals, just play the game a reasonable amount and you get it.
Now people are talking about playing in created stadiums to help get it in 2.5 hours a day of gameplay.
-
@Teak2112_MLBTS it’s not like it’s unobtainable. Even if you don’t grid to get it. It’s still on marketplace. If the way you have done it for the last three innings has resulted in zero bosses it’s clearly not working and if you don’t adapt you will miss out on getting it for free.

In what universe does "less people should earn the inning Boss" make any business sense?
It's not about lowering the xp, it's the simple fact that if offline players complete the content put out in an inning they can still be massively short of earning the boss. This is the change they made from like every single MLB the Show in the past. This is what we are bitching about.

Again, thanks for taking the time to explain. I guess I just need to play more! Ha ha.
Of course, the 9-inning 28 game mini season is new (for me). Have always done the 3-inning variety.
I am asking this question out loud (not to you specifically): what’s the harm in giving out excess XP each inning? I don’t understand why SDS is “gate keeping “ it ( so to speak). A happy “customer” is more likely to spend money than an unhappy one.
I’ll edit to add that it shouldn’t be that difficult, right?
Figure out the number of offline programs ( include one run of a Conquest map and a mini season as a “program”) in an Inning and divide that number into 400k. Maybe add a bit extra “because”.
Do the same for online programs. Those that do both, finish faster and get additional wheel spins.
I mean, just low hanging fruit. Not hard. (Shrugs).

@Precisionist99_XBL exactly bitching is what it is. You have know had three innings to adjust. You get 60 percent of the way there completing the offline missions, programs, and there first three mini season championships. And that’s without regular gameplay xp. But alright pal. I also didn’t say less people should earn the boss. But they shouldn’t just reward everyone the same. Why should someone who actually grinds get the same thing as someone who doesn’t play as much. They should just make it free so it will be one less thing yall non-stop complain about.

I made it to the 85 Live Series pack. I probably won’t play again before Friday. Might not play much more at all. I’ve just lost interest. It has nothing to do with people using whatever exploit you get packs and moreso to do with the game has gotten stale. The previous 2 years, I’ve quit earlier and earlier. 24 I was out at all star break. Last year I was out a few weeks before all star. This year, I’m out at the start of June. I’ve gotten the game for free this year and last so I’m not concerned about wasting money or anything.
-
I'm just shy of the LS Pack now after playing a few Event games last night...which went and played the way vinegar tastes but w/e. I was hoping I might grind out a few games tonight, but it's my anniversary.
-
What are good stadiums to play for events? Normally I try not to play at Coors Field but it's just so much more efficient when accumulating TBs/HRs than Blue River, Bayfront, Date Palm, Rickwood Field, or Mack Park.
-
I've seen a lot of Costco and bandbox type stadiums

Last update for this Inning. Grinded a bunch of Cityscape 9 inning games. Also played some vs CPU to get a couple of TA teams to 50%. Got up to 343k. Still 57k short.
That’s 0-3 for me for earning any of the bosses. Not a happy camper at all with MLB The Show 26.
Played my final game tonight. Again, 9-inning mini season. Won 14-0. Lots of K’s. A Shutout. A save. Homers, doubles and lots of steals. All for …..2700 XP and no card(s) or packs toward a Collection, either.
Ridiculous is not the word. Time to open up the XP and rewards, SDS. Stop hoarding them. Seriously.

Finally finished it, got to my first wheel spin and they didn’t even give me a wheel spin. The employees at this company need to all drink a gallon of draino and do us all a favor!!! It’s so embarrassing at this point it’s turning comical.

@ApolloZ_99_MLBTS I appreciate your self-congratulatory stance, but you are advocating for fewer people to earn the reward by saying people aren't playing what you feel is adequate time. Some people don't have the time to play and some don't enjoy playing online, which is a driver of much more XP. Who cares how someone chooses to play? I only play this game as a way of revisiting collecting cards that I enjoyed I was growing up without the storage needs in my house, and don't think the ROI is worth the subscription cost to play online. This year is far less rewarding for offline players, and that's the point. I have no problem buying cards I don't earn, but the expectation from SDS seems to be that we'll buy all the cards we need/want unless we play online or live on the game offline.
I've never had a problem finishing innings/seasons/whatever they're called that year since 16. In 3 innings this year with no significant drop in time spent playing, I've failed to complete 2 of the 3 innings. The 2nd week i had a vacation so I can live with that. But this inning, I've played each week and will fall about 19k short. I've already resigned to the fact I won't finish this one with another vacation next week.

The wheel spin is glitchy, and I’m not excusing it. But the reward always comes. The wheel spin itself is just for show. You get a random reward as soon as you hit the 30k, wheel spin or not.
Personally, I wish they’d just get rid of the spin and present you the reward . The spin wastes time. Make the stubs a voucher so people can see they got the reward (although vouchers are obnoxious too).

You're usually competing more against your fellow gamers than SDS. We could look at the percentage of "regular players" who got to the inning boss - and argue if that percentage is too high or low.
If the percent gets too high, it defeats the point of the whole mode - though I guess you could argue that inning bosses should be mostly free, and other things more exclusive
-
I’ll add some context as well…
I’ve been a player of the Show since ‘21. I can only recall ONE occasion not finishing the Season/Inning prior to this year. Playing strictly offline. Mostly on Rookie (to be honest).
There’s no question offline play has been nerfed in ‘26….

If people are resorting to playing in short porch/high elevation stadiums because they need it for the xp there is something rotten.
In past years you could safely take off a week and still get to the bosses without much stress. That reduces the FOMO aspect of things and reduces burnout. This year they have made the move towards pressuring you into playing more (and/or doing things you never had to do in the past).
I'd be more content with the change if the xp path wasnt garbage outside of the boss. Multiplayer gives 50 bundle, some premier packs. Why cant inning path do this if its going to be so grindy?
-
@dbrooks1869_XBL I really don’t care. It was 400k which was 100k less than last time. You got almost 60% just completing offline missions. If you are playing like an hour a day than that’s fine but don’t complain that you couldn’t get a boss card which is also obtainable in the market. I’m really just gonna play offline next inning just to prove a point.

I’m gonna disagree with you here. Playing in HR friendly parks has always been the meta for XP grinding.

@ApolloZ_99_MLBTS Have at it boss. If you want to waste your time just to prove me wrong, that's on you. I'll just ride with fatalist view of the current state of the game as long as I can.

@dbrooks1869_XBL yall usually do. There will always be something that someone is upset about but that’s just how it goes. I wish I could donate xp to some of yall. The only reason I get to the boss is to sell it. Are you also refusing to go online? They should make it where you can get repeatable xp in offline modes.
