@genopolanco_PSN Do you think increasing my contact skills would help? My contact is currently all at 80 but I don’t want to push it up too much and start smashing everything easily again

My plate vision stat is 90 but when I move it up to 91 hitting feels too easy again so I feel like the same thing will happen if I boost my contact even by a fraction.

@JackD290_MLBTS I’ve never touched sliders may try this cause I just gave up on my rtts after I broke Barry’s record in year 3 mind u it was only by one. But still I was fluctuating between legend and goat.

I think you’re probably forming your opinion off small sample sizes if you think +1 vision makes that big of a difference. There’s a lot of factors from game to game. That +1 vision would be irrelevant in other games depending on what pitcher you’re facing.

@genopolanco_PSN So how am i supposed to find that perfect balance?

I cant move the difficulty down because it makes it too easy but boosting my stats has the same effect.

I don’t like messing with sliders, it seems like adding a new variable to an already complex mess and it feels like cheating.

Why can’t SDS just make a difficulty that’s realistic to the average real life pro rather than only being able to be an overpowered, unrealistic monster or a pathetic, embarrassing swing and misser?

If GOAT is too hard and Legend is too easy then sliders are your answer. It’s only cheating if you’re cheesy with them. They’re there so you can get the best gameplay possible.

You could turn down the pitch speeds a tick so it’s closer to Legend but still having GOAT timing windows and pitch breaks. It’d basically be like Legend+ difficulty. Just adjust them one tick at a time and play 2 or 3 series before doing anymore.

The game plays pretty well stock but slider tweaks take it to the next level in my opinion.

@genopolanco_PSN I’ve been messing around with sliders for hours and still can’t find a balance.

I’ve even put the difficulty back down to Legend and it’s still the same. I’ve lost all ability to read the pitch out of the hand and get hits.

I legit can’t play this game anymore. Messing with settings and sliders has just killed it for me.

Screw this, no sports game should be this much hassle and stress to try and get a realistic experience out of.

Absolutely fuming that my 9 year career is dead because SDS either has you hitting like a baseball God or swinging at air like a toddler with a breadstick and can’t land on anything inbetween.

Thanks for your help and advice anyway, I hope they get better at balancing the game’s difficulty in future editions.

You might just need a break, or you need to stick with some settings for awhile. Tweaking stuff like going from GOAT to Legend and back is going to mess with your timing a lot.

It’s hard to offer too much advice because I don’t know exactly what your problem is but I feel like anyone can find a pretty good slider set on this game because of how simple it is. Pitch ball. Hit ball. Field ball. Not much else to it. Compared to other games where you have many other factors involved that affect so many different things.

I set my pitch speeds where I have to really lock in and be ready for a 100mph fastball but not constantly getting blow away by it. If off speed gets you too much you can stagger them. Like FBs at 4, Off speed at 5 so the difference isn’t as significant.

But it really just depends. Are you striking out too much? Not getting solid enough hits?

Strike outs, I’d start with the foul frequency slider so you can at least foul things off more. If that doesn’t work, you could try bumping the timing slider or contact slider. But keep in mind the contact slider also affects your timing window.

On G.O.A.T. the problem is striking out way too much.

I can get hits and generally have an AVG of around .250 which is fine but then I strikeout so much its like every AB is either a hit or a strikeout and there’s nothing inbetween.

No ground balls, no flyouts, no pop ups just success or embarrassment.

My last season I almost broke the record for most strikeouts in a season and that was only on half a year of G.O.A.T. difficulty after moving it up because I was finding it too easy on Legend.

If I do a full season on G.O.A.T. I’m easily looking at 300+ strikeouts by the end of the season.

Another thing I wish SDS would bin off is hot streaks. I don’t mind the little fire symbol being there to show that you’re doing well but I wish it didn’t boost your hitting stats.

If I could do a whole season on Legend without the hot streak boost it would be fine, but the problem is it makes hitting too easy after I have already found my level and then because it’s easy I keep hitting like a beast and the hot streak never ends so i essentially spend the majority of the season with boosted hitting stats when I dont want them.

So what I would probably try is:

    -1 solid contact
    +1 foul frequency

But it depends why you’re striking out. If you’re just completely off with timing, then you could try +1 timing as well. But it could just be pitch speeds. You’d have to be the judge of that. If you’re too late on fastballs and too early on off speed, then that’s when I’d try to stagger the speeds. Like FB at 4, off speed at 5. That way you don’t have to adjust as much between pitch types.

The -1 solid contact is going to give you more weak contact like the fly outs and weak grounders.

You could also try just going +1 contact, -2 solid contact. That would make your pci bigger and improve your timing window to reduce strikeouts, but the -2 solid contact negates the contact boost to your actual hit success and give you more weak contact. Then do +1 foul frequency if you need more help.

So yeah, there’s a lot of different combinations you can try and it can be a bit of a pain to tweak them. I’ve just been doing it for years and have spent a lot of time with them so I just think it’s part of sports games at this point. I do it with most games I play to try to get the most realistic gameplay and results as I can.

It started with Madden because that game was just so easy there was no way to make the game challenging without sliders even on All-Madden. That’s a big reason I don’t even play Madden anymore. You can’t make it challenging enough.. no matter what.

But when they added GOAT to this game, I feel like you can really make this game however hard or easy that you want it to be. It just takes some tweaking.

I think I’ve decided I’m just going back to Legend.

I’ve gone back down and done -1 solid hits to try and get more flyouts etc.

It seems to be working so far, if it gets too easy I’ll just keep lowering the solid hits slider and hope it balances it out somewhere.

I’m still striking out but much more sporadically rather than every single game.

Nice. I hope that works for you. The solid contact slider seems to make a big difference.

My sliders, I actually have my contact slider at 1 but leaving the solid contact stock. I like having the challenge of a super small PCI so it really feels like I’m hitting a ball with a bat rather than a ball with a shovel. So you could always try something like that if Legend feels too easy.

As much as I would love to stay on G.O.A.T. I just can’t make it work.

Fair play to the people who can have success on that difficulty, I don’t think I’ll be one of them haha!
