I was dumb enough to try events on the weekend

as an offline player i'm forced to play events this year sort of but was stupid to go online today get get killed by sweats. can't find any player in the matchmaking even close to my level. seems like everyone is so much better.
then saw the event is only 5 days long. so I guess I will play on a late weeknight after work I can jump on and play players who are as bad as me.

Most bang for your buck if you’re going to play online is ranked and rewards are better anyway
If you aren’t good, play ranked you’ll be pitted usually against people of your experience
In Events you’re matched with anyone and everyone’s starting rating is the same so it’s not an even playing field, plus it resets every time you restart the event
Whereas in ranked you are what you are
Some day they’ll make a universal online rating which will carry over to all online modes for the benefit of all.
Until then, don’t touch events as a stepping stone to online play as it is a toxic wasteland (unless you bring a rubber and umbrella and nipple cream)! Events/BR is an entirely different online experience than ranked

@JenkinMeyer_PSN I disagree completely. Events is exactly how you get better at the game. You get better by playing players that are better than you. And it doesnt count against your record. ..ive been playing for four years now. My first ever events I went like 5 and 70. 5 wins 70 losses. I was really bad. Still not great. No pain no gain. Everyone wants easy now. There is no winning without losing, losing is part of life. Get back in the fight! Get better. Get your a.. back in there and win your five games.

Love that you liked my my comment. Lets goo!

We’re allowed to disagree - I upvote because we have two different viewpoints
Yours is of the more experienced “been here awhile ridden hard put away wet”
There’s a lot of players that are new to the game or new to online - so their first experiences of online MLB the Show should NOT be events / BR if they have limited time to spend playing because it does NOT make you better at the game to just get shelled 10-0 in the first inning
It’s pointless

We can agree to disagree all good brother. This game is hard for beginners. So I like to try and give them positive support when I can. Just have to say to yourself oh well i got my a... kicked. But maybe in doing so i got a little better. We all sucked when we first started. Shoot the game will always be hard. But at least manageable for those of us who have stuck with it. The only thing that will make someone like me quit is if cheating gets really bad. Then its pointless

There is no doubt this game is hard for beginners. But most things are. As was said before, events is a great introduction to online play. Keep playing and you will get better. Play offline on higher difficulties as well. You'll figure it out!

People don’t want “easy”. They want fun. It’s a video game, not a job.

Events is the easiest intro to online play, I think. You're going to face a random collection of people - I just played 4 events games in a row where the opponent was very good, followed by 8 in a row where the opponent was super amateur.
I despise Ranked. You're stuck in a game for an hour in a laggy soup. Pitcher confidence/energy means that many games have the same annoying flow - you struggle for four innings, even if you're playing pretty well. Unless it's WC or you need to finish multiplayer path, the rewards are pretty bad for the time spent.
