I’ve been editing a roster for the past couple of days and been experimenting with what ratings the CPU uses to determine their batting orders and starting lineups.

This is something they talked about pre-release as being improved and modernized but I just don’t see it.

Has anyone actually figured out what the CPU uses to determine their lineups?

I see LH hitters with 46 contact, 49 power batting cleanup while RH hitters with 73 contact, 63 power are batting 6th.

Guys like Murakami are benched against righties because they have lower contact, but ignoring his 80+ power and discipline for guys who only have 60 contact, 50 power.

I’ve even seen them completely change the lineups based off only removing one guys secondary position that wasn’t even being used.

Last years logic was flawed, but this year doesn’t seem to make any sense whatsoever. Last year was at least predictable in how you could manipulate the CPU to manage their lineup with ratings.

I also have no idea how the CPU determines their starting rotation order either.

Has anyone played around with this and found anything out?

I think it's the best hitter leads off. And then down the line. I don't think they take into account splits. It's just overall. 😦

That’s definitely not how it’s working. For example, one lineup has their leadoff hitter with 57 contact and 52 power if you go into his player card and look at his overall contact and power averages. That’s 4th worst in the starting lineup. He’s not the fastest, highest overall, best discipline, or vision. There’s really no reason for him to be batting leadoff at all.

The only trend I can really figure out is they put their best hitter in either the 2 or 3 hole.

Anything outside of the 2 or 3 hole, I have no clue. And I’ve been messing around with this for days.

The CPU also doesn’t seem to care whatsoever about how good a players fielding is when determining where to play them.

I haven't really paid attention to the lineups, but the bullpen game feature is messed up. In my Cubs franchise, the Angels have been using the bullpen game since opening day. I am only 12 games in but their number 1 Kikuchi pitches, then they seem to skip the next 3 starters and use the bullpen game. When I played against them I noticed it. Their bullpen is wiped out, they are 0-12. I have been checking as my season goes along and it's the same thing.

[censored] I forgot about them adding this. I’m going to keep an eye on this in my tests. Now
Km wondering if this is why they have their rotation orders so weird all the time.
