Cool new ABS but still missed the in-depth opportunity

Adding ABS quickly into the game was awesome and I think it is a really good feature and plays well. I turned off strike zones all together so it makes it a bit harder. I think they did solid with the system though. It’s a fun and realistic feature.
Of course tho, when it comes to SDS, they did not think of adding more to it inside the franchise mode. I would love to see somewhere in my team stats how we are doing on challenges and how many we are getting right and wrong. That is a huge thing in real life that tells teams valuable information and how/when to use it.

We cant even get minor league stats on players information yet lol

Yeah, that’s pretty terrible. They just don’t care about Franchise

Also now that brought in the abs, what happened to regular challenges of like the first base call where you got to challenge if you were out or safe. They just completely removed that smh

100% agree.
It would be nice to have managerial challenge opportunities for more than just plays at first too. But I'd rather have them only at first than not at all. Idk why they chose to get rid of these as they were a feature that could be toggled on/off as per user preferences. No longer having them at all just feels like a lazy effort.

It would be nice to have ABS stats available for sure. I also agree that the new ABS system generally plays pretty realistically.
But I think there are two more glaring issues which should be prioritized before an ABS stats system gets added:
-
The number of available ABS challenges for both teams should not auto-reset to 2 when logging back into an IN-GAME SAVE. Perhaps that's an option that could be toggled on and off, but it definitely shouldn't be the default - this just feels like a glitch or an oversight.

As currently constructed, ABS functions so true to reality that it actually alters how the visible borders of the strike zone function in the game. Effectively, using ABS in Franchise imposes a league-wide larger strike zone - that part of it is extremely unrealistic. It gets at one of the problems that has persisted in the game for years: in DD and other game modes without ABS, 50% of the ball's circumference needs to fall within the visible zone to be considered a strike. That's a totally different way of interpreting the zone. My preference is for the ABS challenges in the game to look as realistic as possible, but I think the more important thing is having a consistent strike zone size across all game modes, and this year's release has failed to take that into consideration. This should be addressed via adjusting how the strike zone functions in other game modes. It will undoubtedly frustrate some DD players, but I think they'll begrudgingly tolerate it as long as it makes the game more realistic.
