My two-way player (SP/SS) is now in the middle of his 3rd season, sitting at 1545 career at bats and a career Slugging % more than double the .500 that the description says is needed.

But the perk is still locked.

The perk description does say "Tally 1500 Plate Appearances in a career", but since I already have 1545 "At Bats", I should have more than the required 1500 "Plate Appearances" (not every "plate appearance" is considered an "at bat", but every "at bat" is counted as a "plate appearance").

Has anyone else successfully unlocked the Scorched perk?

Walks, hit by pitch, sac bunts and flies are all unofficial at bats - ex: walk 3 times and sac fly then you are 0-0 in that game and wouldn’t end a hit streak.

Plate appearance is every single time you go to the plate regardless of outcome

Question is did you actually play every game or did you sim any? If you simmed you probably won’t unlock until you have actually played for all 1500 appearances

    I played every game.

And you are correct - there are several scenarios that count as a 'plate appearance' that don't count as an 'at bat'.

So necessarily, (# of 'at bats') will always be less than (# of 'plate appearances').

Well, in theory they could be equal (if the player never draws a walk of any kind, never bunts or hits a sacrifice fly), but 'at bats' will never be greater than 'plate appearances'.

According to my career stats page, I have 1545 'at bats'.

Since the perk description says "1500 plate appearances", I figured I'd have unlocked the perk by now (my career slugging % is almost 2.000 - much higher than the .500 listed as the requirement in the description).

I was planning on starting a new player once they fix some of the things that are broken (this one is mostly to figure out how the new mechanics work), so I will continue to play this one for a while, at least.

Have you successfully unlocked the perk? If no one has, that might indicate a bug (or an error in the perk description, I suppose).

Right on - I do the same as you every year, this first player is a trial run while they fix the bugs.

I do think that you’re on to something with this perk bug as it hasn’t unlocked for me either and I have met both requirements - 1663 plate appearances and .631 slug
The plate appearance stat is right after OPS
    I’m on the ps5

Hopefully a trial run that also allows me to collect a full set of diamond level equipment...

I guess I didn't bother to scroll far enough to the right on that screen. Yes - my Plate Appearances total is higher than my At Bat total.

    I am also on PS5.

Pretty soon, I'm going to have to grit my teeth and deliberately strike out 3 times in a row to see if that perk is at all useful as I continue my 'trial run'.
