I’m a casual player that caps at DS sometime CS but I’ve only ever made WS once. This year I made DS in the first season and was looking forward to some competitive weekend classic games, but instead I get matched up with absolute sweats who are WS players, got a high league for Weekend Classic, and then tanked to play your average joes like me.

Such [censored]. They should have to play people in their league.

They could have got their WS banner playing coop and haven't played much solo ranked correct?

I got shutout in the 500's so there's that. Pretty sure that is my first 9 inning shutout on all star ever. Flat couldn't see the ball. Went from multiple WS banners since 17 to can't score a run on all star. I was actually hitting great on all star until that patch a few days ago. Haven't hit anything since my patch coincidentally.

That’s ok people are losing games to the lineup glitch in WC. SDS has failed this community with these glitches and allowing people to lose to get easier opponents during WC.

@beanball0571_PSN they are making the game way too hard. They Need to loosen it up a little. Supposed to be fun. Bad swings are a bloop, great swings are an out, good swings do nothing. Only people enjoying it are the pros and u tubers.

I agree.. I think the placement needs to be changed.. one idea I’ve had : highest rating shouldn’t reset with ranked seasons reset.
So say a player reaches 800 rating any in point before the next classic, come classic time he’s placed based on his highest achieved rating ever instead of resetting each season.

Another idea: they could do placement matches at either the start of each season, or on launch.. it’s not a fix all..

I have other ideas on how to prevent or make it harder/less rewarding to Smurf but I don’t think they’ll ever do what it would take to achieve that goal..

It’s a byproduct of skill based match making and having earned content that is tied to SBMM and performance..

One one hand, its content that adds incentive to play, and having content for players of higher skill levels gives those players something to grind for. But at the same time, this is the trade off.

Another idea that just dawned on me.

They just implement it into the game that if you quit out of x amount of ranked games in a season, you should be restricted come classic time on rewards…
    Cause that’s another thing,
In order to Smurf but still play each season and complete multiplayer xp path, you have to quit out of a bunch of games to manipulate your rating.. that’s how you wind up with so many smurfs in weekend classic..
If they made that change, they’d have to make a choice..
Either miss out on multiplayer xp path and not play until classic and hope your team is good enough?
Or wind up having to play at their true division..
If I never quit a single ranked seasons game. I’d probably hover around the 700 rated mark. Maybe mid to high 700’s at best.. but never 800.. and never below like 450 only time I’d be that low is at ranked reset..

    I’m also guilty of smurfing..
I try to stay silver. (500-699) for classic.. and then before classic I’ll tank my rating depending on what division I know I’ll be in..
If I’m gonna be in silver 1,and I’m really hell bent on going 6-0 I’ll tank it down to like 300 maybe a little lower , because even though I’ll be in the 500-599 division, with the way placement is structured, and matchmaking works, I’ll get matched based on current ratings..
There’s a lot of players who’s max may be 500, but that’s their absolute peak, and maybe going into classic their current rating is much lower. What that also does is give you a higher probability to go 6-0 cause as you know, as you win IN WC your rating increases and thus, the minimum rating matchmaking threshold increases as well..
Do the math, call it +50 rating per win.
If I’m Locked in the 500-599, am a true 750 rated player but start out game 1 in the 300-370 spread, I win 1 game ( I don’t remember the differential in the threshold, but point being after 1 win I’m now in the low 400’s to high 300’s.
After my second win it goes up 50..
    By game 6 if I’m 5-0 I should be at 550 rated..

That threshold is a lot lower vs if I’d started out the classic currently rated 500.. and my chances of going 6-0 and facing smurfs becomes increasingly more probable.
    there again,
If they introduced WC reward punishment for quitting out of too many games I think that alone would have a big difference

The more I think about it…
If you quit out of too many games between each classic should just be unable to compete/ play ranked during weekend classic..
simply punishing rewards for them alone wouldn’t prevent them from screwing up someone else’s run..

    I think that’s the realistic/logical fix..

The question becomes: “how many quits “
What that number should be I can’t say intelligently right now.
If I wanted to I could do some testing and look at the numbers and use that to come up with an educated number of “this amount of quits” but right now I’d be just throwing stuff at the wall

Hold on. I got up to 576. Then got my a.. kicked in last night and dropped down to 420. Still in silver 1 500 to 600 weekend classic pool. Unless im playing lower players now. I only played one game and he was in the 500 rankings. Which is what it is supposed to be. I should only be playing people rated 500 to 599. If this is not the case. Thats not right. Bad

For WC regardless of whether you win alot or lose alot you stay in the division you made it too. So if you made to silver 1 even if you win enough to reach 800 you will continue to play in silver 1 on All-star. There are alot of player who abuse this who are probably normally 750-850 rated players whi just want the extra rewards.

They did fix it this year but remember that yoi can get to WS in CoOp and get a banner. So seems like some players are just sandbagging to stay lower this year. While making sure to get to WS in CoOp this way they get 2 WS packs.

SDS is out of their league, please just sell the rights to a better developer so they can make a good baseball game.

@GooseOnEm_PSN Same thing just happened to me. I'm in Silver 2 and just played a player with a World Series icon. Rather than match players against players in the same reward tier, it appears that they match players solely on rating. So a player can peak at 800, slot into the Gold 2 reward tier, then lose a bunch of games to tank their rating prior to Weekend Classic, and then matchup with low rated players while still playing in Gold 2. This is broken.

@MiSsippiKid96_XBL Thank you for describing the issue very clearly. What if SDS only allowed players within the same reward tier to play each other? That would presumably solve the problem.
