I don't get why the power creep goes so fast. In a lot ways, the game plays better with gold players than diamonds. All of their line drives don't get caught, doubles and triples happen more frequently like they should, etc. Yet, every year it's like we are racing to get to 99s. Why?

I do think maybe it has gone sometimes. But really when you think about it we only have 3 99s in the game tell the all-star break.
