As far as I can tell, the only point in collecting the Live Series is to ultimately get the two 99 cards you get when you complete everything -- which takes a ton of stubs. But it seems that all the players released through the various programs -- WBC, Spring Breakout, etc., -- all have higher-ranked cards than virtually all the regular Live Players.

And sooner than later -- and probably much sooner than you can collect the two 99 cards from completing the Live Collection -- more 99s will be available, and eventually a LOT of 99s will be available.

I like the idea, in theory, of playing with regular player cards -- but why not make the better Live players much better or at least at the level of the players from the other programs that are already better than 95% of any Live Players? It makes no sense to me.

Hmm it’s almost as if they’re going to release new Topps Now cards to make them all obsolete.

This game is nothing but making anything obsolete from launch. It’s a baseball card collecting game and that is it, under the guise of baseball.

I only start the season by quickly purchasing the teams with no diamonds for quick sell value (which I was thankfully able to do this year - as they quick went up. The only diamond set team I bought was Vlad Jr, cause I really want to play with new legend Tony Fernandez and I think Vlad in his age 27 season could hit a 90 overall quickly. Otherwise Live series just aint worth it for Felix, Albert and Tulo for what it actually costs stub wise. They are great cards, but 3 players dont make a team.....and while a few Live series cards will be usable for the first month (and Maybe Ohtani for a little longer) i'd rather play with cheaper cards so I have more to buy end end game cards I want later.

So yea love series aren't as good as they probably should be BUT inside edge typically helps a lot during the season to give them good uses. Just too early for any boosts so far

This is exactly what makes LS cards viable early on. Once inside edge kicks in, the boosts they get take them higher than what the base rating shows. Many times an 85 plays more like a 95. Then kick in the supercharges they give out and you’ll have silvers playing better than 99s.

So yes, the main purpose of LS is for the collection, there will be many LS cards over the next couple months that are extremely good cards in competitive modes.
