This game is not pay to win. Its PLAY to win in the most literal sense. Yes, they have cards that you can buy...none of those are required to compete or win games vs cpu or vs other players.

I've never bought stubs and have every available card available in 24 and 25. I think I still have 5 million stubs on 25 to. If you buy the right cards at the right time and flip them you can make more stubs then you'll need. I pre ordered so I've had access since the 13th and I only need 5 cards to finish the Live set. I've never invested in updates and don't plan to, all you need is to save up to 25-30 k and if you buy and flip the right cards you can get to a million in a day. This method may be hard to accomplish this soon to release because the profit margin is razor thin on most cards because weirdos insist on buying 19 cards at 20k and selling for what equals out a profit of 100 stubs after tax. So annoying.

And I don't think the average NMS player is mass investing, or using equipment packs. You can see various NMS content creators that are just playing the game.
Notice you are conveniently leaving out the increase in pack rewards this year

They had a cap of 500k on him when the game launched for early access and streamers to save them money. Then they took it off
They have made it to where grinding packs is good and sellable cards is good but it’s no where near what investing was for making stubs. Especially if shohei is going to be 700k anyways

The drop rate on twitch packs for diamonds went from 50-67. The exact number for the drop rate on high diamonds I don’t have off the top of my head.
More packs doesn’t mean more stubs if you don’t pull anything, a large number of people use investing/flipping to make stubs. With the changes they’ve made both have been heavily nerfed. (20 card limit) (account restrictions on people who flip cards). If you don’t think the changes they are making and continue to make aren’t strictly to help them make more money and hurt NMS you are either working for SDS or delusional -
So, yeah, the market is, if anything, worse than last year despite the blatant lies about investing being the problem.
Who could have possibly seen that coming? Oh, yeah, anyone with any experience with video game developer heel turns...
Trust is easy to break but virtually impossible to regain, SDS.

@ANF_GOLD99_PSN It's a poorly programmed game where the players double as the beta testers.
The people playing the game understand the underlying mechanics of MLB The Show better than some of the people programming it.

Whats worse is i started playing back in 2018..i got into it because mlb the show was nothing like madden or fifa or nba2k

Grew up during the sosa/bonds era.Became a fan of the orioles watch them growing.
Now 2026.
Mlb the show is worse than madden and fifa and nba2k combined.
From 2018-2022 you could play the game 1000000% for free literally no money spent.
I completed live series and other collections within the 1st month easy no money little effort, i just grinded moments, conquest maps(repeating ones) and got rewards for ranked seasons while improving my team.
From 2018-2022 we didn't have no sale cards. Anything and everything was saleable or flippable.
Cards wasn't capped at a set market value example 84s83s82s81s80s79s78s77s76s75s74s73s72s71s70s69s68s67s66s65s64s
All cards was directly affected by supply and demand it was easier to earn stubs. Yeah collectively the 2018-2022 collections was more expensive as a whole but our means to earn stubs from literally just playing the game was unlimited.
Programs didn't have soft or hard caps
Now Majority of collections now are locked behind limited packs..
5 live series cards are worth more than all other live series cards combined.
Packs are hard to come by via playing the game especially the packs that have other non live series cards.
So its best to sell those to get as much stubs as possible to complete the live series collections for the 99s which 1 or 2 of em will be viable by games end but by the time you can complete the collections now they'll have little to no value.
I left madden and nba for mlb the show.
2018-2022 was peak and we'll never get that again because the community let them nickle n dime us started in 2023 and has only gotten worse year by year.

I got every single card last year and 4 million extra stubs completely no money spent. All you have to do to make stubs is play the game -
It's definitely not as easy this year with flipping being limited. The 20 card rule keeps prices in a range and doesn't allow big market swings. I'm sure this was SDS goal as they want to be the stub source instead of just flipping or working the market.

20 is such a low limit. If they HAVE to impose a limit, they need to raise it.
What happens if I have 20 of the same player and then get another of that player in a pack?
