My Must-Haves To Purchase MLB The Show 26
-
While there are many things that need upgrades, additions, adjustments throughout the game both online and offline, I'll stick to the ones that I need to have if I am to purchase MLB the Show 26.
I put this here in the Franchise forum because I play Franchise Mode. I do so with fictional teams, created stadiums, and fictional rosters.
So here are the items that I must have something of in order to purchase next year's or any other following MLB the Show game:
For Franchise
1 - Option for a Salary Cap and Floor system. This is a must-have for me.2 - Expansion (MLB is already talking about it). This is more of, I'd buy the game if it happens.
3 - Ability to reformat the league (division and league names, realignment, choose between 2, 3, or 4 divisions). More of, I'd buy if it happens.
For Uniform Creator
1 - Player names and numbers need to have the 'Screen' option the same way team logos/brands do. This is a must-have for me.2 - Team Uniform Creator Vault. This is more of an I'd buy if it happens.
For Stadium Creator (along with making sure the Vault is working on Day 1)
1 - Bullpens off the field. This is a must-have for me.2 - Options for retractable roofs and domes. This is a must-have for me.
3 - Wall windows need to be able to connect right next to each other like they used to. This is a must-have for me.
4 - Wall windows should have options for every type of fence or have a clear option that can blend into any fence.
5 - Fonts need number options. This is a must-have for me.
6 - Lasers or signage props that are connected to an ad logo option to have custom ads added to a park...and it should be able to be added to the wall. At this time, this is more of an I'd buy if it happens.
For me to purchase MLB the Show 26, I would need some of these 'must-haves' or, considering my type of usage mentioned above, I see no purpose.
Obviously, there are many other items needed for the game, but at this time, these are the ones I must have for 26 in order for me to buy in. Even though some are supportive tools, they affect immersion into the game in every mode. For me, that affects Franchise Mode.
Please make this happen. I want reasons to buy 26.

Sorry to see you go.

Some of those features aren't really in real baseball (salary cap/floor) so there is 0 chance they end up in the game.
I just want to play franchise with a buddy online ... SDS, make it happen!

I agree with you on the expansion. It would be nice to add teams instead of replacing teams. I don't agree with the salary cap because teams have the option to spend as much money as they want on players. It's their decision to not sign players and spend money. I also agree with moving the bullpens wherever we want in stadium creator.

Well, respectfully, if you really need all this to happen in 4 months, then another one bites the dust. -

Year to year saves. I skipped MLBTS 24 because I didn't want to throw away my franchise. Progression is broken. Doesn't match what the scouts project for draft picks. If they fix that I might buy 26 without Y2Y but unfortunately I'll probably skip 26 unless they bring back y2y.
Not mad at the developers. Just reality.

My staement about a salary cap/floor is not as a mandatory setting in the game, but as an option as we have now with budget or not budget, and add cap/floor as a third option. Eesentially we would have
1 - play with budget
2 - play without a budget
3 - play with cap/floor -
just give me sounds of the show back. And free agency like it it was in the show 19 and 20, off field bullpens and state/national flags would be nice

3 - play with cap/floorthe cap/floor is something that is badly needed in MLB and when the current agreement expired on Dec 1, 2026 we may see some big changes. Yours is a great idea but MLB needs to enact it not just the Show. If it means a lockout then so be it. It could develop into a fight between small and mid market teams vs big market teams.
The current system is so lopsided it isn't sustainable.

Not really. The Dodgers are just a very smart organization. The Mets, Padres, Yankees and others have access to and spend that kind of money and they are not good consistently like the Dodgers. The video linked breaks down why the Dodgers are so successful

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZT47VCMN88sFriedman is good but look at that lineup and rotation and it's mostly due to money. Dodgers payroll is $188 million above median MLB payroll. Subtract $188 million for that roster and show me the lineup and rotation.
Among the big money teams the are smarter than others but put a serious payroll cap in effect and they are suddenly not nearly as smart.
