Can I get a Use Case?
-
Ok, so I'm a player who has almost all of the big cards in the game, with the exception of Ketel and a few Chase cards (though I could get most of them too with my current stubs). And I find myself really wishing the game would give me a reason not to use the same old cards.
The game never gives us a good use case for 95 percent of the cards in our deck. Am I going to use them over Tedrick Williams, Joey Bats, or Griffey? Over Cal or Posada or Willi? Noone loves Troy Glaus more than me, but give me a reason to use him! How about Ryan Howard or Anthony Rizzo - whelp, who can afford that Lefty Tax!
Put a salary cap on, or make theme teams required in stretches, or something. We need a reason to build cool and funky teams.

So you want to play events?

If you want “to build cool and funky teams,” isn’t that a good enough reason “to build cool and funky teams?”

Salary cap type of mode seems like a no brainer. It allows the lesser cards to have value. But if you don't care about your ranked record you can play whoever you want.
2K has a new offline mode in their game this year you can only use your cards for one game each. No idea how it actually plays since my team isnt deep enough yet, but its a cool idea on paper.

We also have a salary cap mode. It's called Battle Royale

nevermind, not worth it

If I have 1000 cards, about 15 of them have a Use Value of "Infinity". About 960 of them have a Use Value of "quite nearly zero". There's gotta be a better way to do this.

Or hear me out. Just play the game and YOU try different cards. I use players others don't. I have Durran as my starting LF and Utly as my 2nd baseman. Stop trying to get them to MAKE you use different cards and you use different players. No one is making you use the same ones.

I mean, thats on you for only wanting to play with a god squad.
Ranked online is only one mode in the game. They don't really reward you for using them, but every card is useable in conquest and mini seasons. And sub 600ish ranked.

@Rhyno1986_XBL or hear me out. Wouldn't it be more fun and interesting if the decision to switch cards and form different teamswere strategic....instead of just "ok, I guess I'll play with this guy for a while to change it up"

Dude, they give you SO many reasons to do this. TA stat and PXP goals, stat grinds for every program (which drop at a minimum of one per week), themed mini seasons and events, captain bonuses for theme teams. I’m not really sure what other incentives you’re looking for? And, most importantly, I don’t know why we’re so dismissive of playing with new cards just to mix it up a bit. Trying out new cards just for fun should be more than enough incentive.

@rubicante23_PSN or add more captains back that don’t promote the switch hitter meta. That way combo teams become a thing again. Like in 24 I like to use Corbin boost and Phillies boost both tier 2.
