What do you look for in a card?

The other day I bought the new Manny Ramirez, the new Ubaldo Jimenez, and the new Jimmy Rollins and proceeded to sell them back not even 30 mins later.
I didn't even try them out.
Why did I sell them back, without trying them out?
Well, when I went to switch them in to their respective positions, on my Main squad, none of the 3 seemed to have better attributes than whom I already had in there.
SPs - Clemens, Kershaw, Skubal, Skenes, Maddux
SS - Luis Aprichio (P3) and Takeover Elly (P5)
LF - Summertime Jarren Duran (P4)
Ubaldo and Manny - I'll buy them back for WAY less after the next WC.
Rollins - Maybe later just to have him. But not for what he's selling for now.
Just seemed like a wast of 500-600K in stubs.

@x-814-x-MAFIA-x_PSN Not sure any of these guys are worth the price of upgrades if you aren’t rich, but I absolutely love using Rollins. He always plays well above his stats for me and he can do it all. He’ll be in my lineup for the rest of the year.

I would buy Manny just to place him on my Red Sox squad. But I am a Sox fan so that's an easy choice. I would buy Rollins for his Switch hitter option and put him at 1 or 2 in my lineup.
Weirldy enough, I did purchase Mantle because of his name and switch hitter ability, but don't really like using him. Oh well, I have almost all the sets and normally won't spend more then 75k on a player unless I need him, but splurged on Mantle. He's on my Switch hitting lineup also. It's really what you want at this point, correct? -
This time of year it isn’t about attributes, it’s about do I want to add a player to my team because I like them.

Clean-cut, good face. Good jaw.

@MarioMendoza935_XBL but is his girlfriend ugly?
-
Looks like I should've held on to them for a little longer. All 3 are up 30-40k.

Speed. Speed. Speed. And more speed. It's really the only attribute that matters to me. Playing this game before it was MLB the Show since the PS1 days, the controls are fairly the same. I only grind against the CPU, so hitting, no matter the card and pitching is easy. Getting to the ball though...speed will get it just about Everytime. No matter how much SDS changed the defensive Meta.
