The hitting is a major issue with the game and everyone knows it. I don’t understand all the white knights who year after year it’s the same people defend this dribble.
Who is being a white knight? Am I?
I have stated numerous times that the hitting feels unrewarding.
Am I being a white knight because I don't take someone's claim that the overwhelming majority of their perfect/perfects are outs at face value? I have never once, that I can remember, defended the hitting in this year's game. I question launch angles and exit velocities of my swings quite often.
Am I supposed to believe them and just assume that SDS is doctoring every person's game history to show perfect/perfects in a better light?
I am all for questioning the hitting system. I just don't believe that posting what seems to be exaggerated numbers is useful. Maybe the venting helps the user who is doing the venting but I don't think it is useful in the long run.
Haven't you noticed that if you don't agree with someone, especially on this forum, that's complaining about the game; they'll call you a white knight or a simp for SDS.
Its supposed to be construed as an insult. But unless they're actually saying it to your face, not miles and miles away behind a keyboard, it just comes off as how childish they can be.

The feedback given at the end of a game is not at all accurate. So I would caution using that for anyone or in any case. I know this because I played an opponent the other day that literally dinked almost every hit. I was about to ask him how he was doing it because it seemed intentional. It was actually impressive. Everything just falling perfectly into gaps just over the infielders heads or placed just perfectly down the line. When looking at the feedback after the game it said he only had one late or early dink and no bad contact. So essentially he had no bad contact. His PCi ratings on the balls weren’t good but it said his timing or something was fine. Bottom line is the results at the end of the game are often one or two numbers off from your opponents and rarely right from what I’ve seen.

I once had an opponent reach base on a strikeout 3 times in one game with Will Smith behind the plate...
-
@RAisEdByGoAt_XBL I’ve never noticed a single discrepancy in the game logs, but I’ll test it with perfect perfects in the next games I play.
-
My 2 cents: I don’t think hitting is broken , but I do agree with the word @Dolenz_PSN uses “unrewarding”. I’ll give an example…
I’m currently finishing up a Lefty Longball mini season. As you can imagine (since I’m playing it “late”), my team is full of 96-99 hitters with 100+ contact, power, and clutch.
Yet, I can’t tell you the number of games I’ve won with the score 1-0, 2-1, 3-1, 3-0 ( low scoring).
This should NOT be the case! I should be scoring 10+ runs per game, given the terrible pitchers I’m facing.
Yet, that is not the case. I play in Rookie. I can only assume my team has been nerfed/gated to stop me from running up the score and getting too much XP/PXP. Yes, I’m winning, but it’s a very unrewarding experience.

It is absolutely insane that people are trying to argue with game log data. @Dinger_Dan19_PSN Please just accept that you were exaggerating and let us move on. Posting your screenshots will not make you look better. Also, @SpawnOfDitka_XBL and @RAisEdByGoAt_XBL, don't try to deny the data. Go make your "The hitting engine is broken" argument when you have the game logs to back it up

It’s also possible they’ve drastically reduced the EV on the outer edge of the PCI, bailing people out less often than in years past. Say you had a .450 avg on contact between the center and the outer edge of the PCI, that is now .350 (or 102 to 99 in EV).
Every year it’s either too easy to hit and you can’t strike out anybody or not rewarding enough. What matters is that we all play under the same conditions.

Why don't people understand that just because you get a Perfect/Perfect; it doesn't mean it will always be a hit.
Maybe the pitcher threw the ball in the exact spot he wanted to throw it. Maybe the batter is a Contact Hitter. Maybe the fielder has Diamond fielding.
Alot of things factor into how a ball is hit and where it goes after it is hit.
I think SDS needs to get rid of the Perfect/Perfect feedback.
It causes more trouble than it's worth.
This is completely bad comments. No player can say they believe perfect swings should be punished. Thus is simply a rage inducing comment because no logical person would say yes punish peopel for being good at our game. Especially when SDS keeps claiming stick skills rain supreme.

I understand perfect-perfect outs on pitches along the edge of the strike zone. That's frustrating; however, In baseball, a good pitch probably has the advantage over a good swing.
On the other hand---a perfect-pefect out on a hanging meatball or pitch down the middle? That shouldn't happen.

@GoozeFn_PSN perfect perfects are recorded correctly. That’s very easy for to keep record of I would imagine. Next time you face an opponent that hits a lot of very soft contact or dinks check the logs after and you will see they are not correct. If my opponent is hitting the ball off the edge of the bat on a late swing the logs should show minimal contact or bad contact or whatever. Should also show late. Not good. I’m not in front of the game right now but next time anyone plays look for that. You wild find the logs likely will register it as just a hit or good timing I don’t remember
-
@RAisEdByGoAt_XBL I’m not even sure what you’re referring to. I’m specifically talking about perfect perfects.
-
@Talkingben9558_XBL have plenty of screenshots to back games up big man. Games with inaccurate logs obviously can’t back that up. point is this guy came on here to discuss a known issue with the game for actual feedback. You guys aren’t giving it. I made a post a while back and had my strikeout count off by one and was getting trashed by you guys for it. It’s silly.
-
@Rhyno1986_XBL No one is saying perfect perfects should get punished. What we are saying is sometimes in baseball a ball is hit perfectly and directly at a fielder which results in an out. This is a reality of the game and should be reflected in this game. That’s why there’s 9 defenders on the field.
-
@RAisEdByGoAt_XBL Well, when you come in here claiming you’re hitting .304 on perfects when in reality you’re hitting over .800 on perfects, your point isn’t going to be taken seriously.
-
@GoozeFn_PSN that’s fair

I think a more significant way to look at this would be to compare your AVG, runs per game and HR per game from this year to last year. HR definitely seem to be down which to me is a good thing. Looking at mine, my average and runs per game are up while HR are down. I tried looking at some of the people complaining and it doesn’t appear like they played online last year, so I’m not sure how they would even notice a difference. I also compared one of the top players/streamers and his were down across the board. They definitely nerfed elevation online. We know that. The slow power creep might be part of it. Using 99’s basically all year last year with captains likely played a role in the difference people are feeling. Maybe they did something to exit velos. We don’t know. Again, I just don’t think it’s nearly as significant as people are making it seem.
-
@Dolenz_PSN you are a massive white knight for SDs and have been for years.

On this thread you have said game logs are not recording perfect perfects accurately, then you said they are, and now you are saying they are not again. I also was not talking to you about the screenshot, since you had nothing to do with the original debate -
@Talkingben9558_XBL I don’t recall mentioning perfect perfects aren’t reordered correctly I was talking about the logs in general. So many people refer to them when they are not in fact correct. A lot of things are not correct in the game. Check swings are not called correctly and yes I understand the actual input is what matters not the actual swing through but also pitches aren’t called correctly. With a game that has a host of problems it doesn’t surprise me the after game logs are incorrect and they are. I’ve seen it I’ve looked for it and now I’m always looking at them and taking note.
