The Ups and Downs of Ranked
-
Look I know that I'm not great at the game, I mostly play in the evenings after work and I've made it up to about 750 with some luck. But honestly I don't understand how the hitting in this game works. You can square a ball up and it'll be a weak flyball at 95 mph EV. Then you can be a little under the ball and just early and its a home run. I just don't understand it, it seems like the hitting mechanics have changed the past 3 years and it's kind of annoying. Plus pitching, how can I get perfect input with pure analog and it not be even remotely close to where I put the pitch. I'm seriously fed up with getting up to 750 and then losing 6 out of 7 games only to rinse and repeat.
Queue the "get good" comments. But I know i cant be the only one feeling like this.

if everyone just had ups it would be a pretty boring game. embrace the suffering.

This year more than ever a lot of the contact feels more RNG. All you've gotta do is look at the angle of the contact vs the direction the ball heads in. I'm finding more often than not it's not correlating.
There's also been times where I swear up and down I timed the pitch right, only to whiff. Watching the replay I see the ball pass through the barrel of the bat.
I'm not even remotely a great hitter...in fact I'm slumping something fierce right now...but I'm good enough to know when something isn't right.
By the same token...I'm sure some of the hits I've gotten haven't made any sense whatsoever either. Some days you're the bull, some days you're the china shop.

I’m not diminishing how you feel, but I’ve played DD exclusively (and offline going back to 989 days) since 2019 and we hear the same complaints every year, with some variations.
-
I'm 21-4 in ranked and have all these same feelings and based on my record I've been more lucky than unlucky
With that being said, I've enjoyed the game offline more than online this year and haven't played ranked in like 2 months I think. Maybe it's more mindless but I'm enjoying just using cards I like in conquest and mini seasons.
Previous years I've played primarily ranked and was always just grinding cards I didn't want.
Plus the bunt dance and pause and dashboard I just grew super quick of this year. Can't hardly grind parallels online with dashboard
I think double pxp and xp has made the offline play 100x more enjoyable and valuable compared to past years

@yankblan_PSN you literally just did diminish how he felt though. Smh. Yes every year there are complaints. But this year feels worse. Not feels. Is worse. Enough people are saying the same thing at this point, its now becoming factually correct.

@SpawnOfDitka_XBL well, you’re trying to equate feelings to facts. Go back every year; these posts are like clockwork. I didn’t say it was perfect or better/worse than the other years.

That is actually true
… and to get back to the OP. It depends on… I feel like you have to be more accurate on HOF with your pci.
But that being said … You do not know the input on the other side, that is an important part of „evaluation“. Speaking of: Evaluation is not counting „complaining“-threads -
@yankblan_PSN ok I'll put it to you this way. Unless you are a top 1 percent player who can over come the inconsistencies of the hitting engine this year, you are going to lose multiple games or win multiple games because of it. You'll lose when your input is better and you'll win when its worse than your oppenents. If you are ok with that? Fine. I am a ws player no slouch. I am pretty sure i know what I am witnessing and talking about.

@ZSuthy34_XBL
Hitting is definitely a lot worse and a lot more inconsistent this year than in previous years, so I get what you're saying. -

Different hitters have different situations thst occur after they hit a ball.

This year's hitting engine has felt very similar to last year, except balls carry slightly less. These posts happen every single year, mostly because someone had one unlucky ranked game. If it was really this bad all year, why are you still playing?
-
@Talkingben9558_XBL look i understand that things happen and I'm not a great hitter by any stretch of the imagination. But I have lost probably 20 games this year because all game I had good contact and good pci placement that ends up right at the wall or a fielder makes a miraculous play they shouldnt have. I still enjoy the game it just feels ridiculous when the game feels like RNG. I played IRL for 20 years all the way up to college and i saw my fair share of hits that shouldnt have been and outs that shouldve been hits. At some point it just starts to feel unrealistic like they're ruining the game of baseball
