Grouping swings

One of the things I’ve always found interesting about this game year after year is finding the best player for YOU isn’t necessarily a matter of looking at ratings. You have to play with them and see how they work with YOUR mechanics. I’ve never played that well with players like Ohtani, Trout, Lou Gehrig or some of the bigger names of the game, but year after year I’ve had a lot of success with guys like Grandal, Chase Utley and even Jesse Winker just to name a few.
Has anyone ever put any kind of chart together that shows “If you’re good with this particular player, here are others with similar swings that you may want to try”? or “If you’re bad with this player, you’ll be bad with this one as well?”
Anyone else have similar thoughts? Just throwing it out there.

Don’t have a chart but I can say that Jim Edmonds, Willie McCovey, Adam Dunn, and Carlos Pena I murder with, offline at least and are similar.
From the right you can’t beat Acuna, Trout, Schmitt, and Story
All from my personal experience, no idea if swings are similar.
You can always check your own personal stats with players somewhere in profile and sort. Use that as a guidance for players you’ve used.
It could save stubs I suppose if you don’t want to say, buy Willi Castro and find out you hate his swing if there was a chart but I think that a lot of it has to do with height, batters box position, etc. a lot of variables I’ve noticed.
Plus you add in quirks it’s tough to gauge.

All good points. Thanks! It just seems like I’m traditionally good with the same people year after year and vice versa. I can’t put my finger on what all of the people I hit good/bad with have in common. Some are tall, some are short. Some hit for power, some hit for contact. Some hit R, some L, some S. I’m certainly not complaining. It’s kind of like buying a car, gotta test drive it first I guess.

I’ve found I generally like shorter RH and bigger LH; don’t know if it’s imagination or animation, but golfing [censored] (the censored word is baseballs without the first 4 letters, G forbid we mention balls on a baseball forum) as a RH is tougher and with shorter RH you can get under the ball a bit better.
Betts, Lindor, Griffey, Luis Urias, Granderson, Bregman.
I stay away from Trout, Yount, Thomas, Harper, Carroll, and old-timers/NL swings.

When making a lineup do test this: put all of your tall players together, short, etc.
For instance, group Elly, Judge, O’Neil Cruz together, then put your shrimps together say, Altuve Wong, types. Don’t stagger them.
The strike zone differential distracts yourself if you stagger them in the lineup. So if I know I have 3 tall sluggers in a row, it is easier on the eyes to have them in a bunch and know the strike zone for the players.

See that’s a good point, since you use the smaller strike zone on your RH batters you automatically know not to swing at higher stuff visually or whatever.

@JenkinMeyer_PSN it’s more that I sit high with RH but swing middle (under the ball); I can’t swing under a low and inside slider like I do with my lefties. But I jack more balls high in the zone with my righties. Probably angles and perception or approach, who knows.
I stopped fighting it; go with what works and not the heart. Most times. Sorry Big Hurt.

But it’s easier to gauge the “high” for you with the shorter players. If you had taller guys the pitchers would throw you above your wheelhouse as it were.

It's weird, but there are players that i dont have to think about there swing, i can go fastball in and i know if they throw a circle change down and away, not only will i get there, but it's going to be hit really hard. It's definitely not with everyone, i just trust that with quirks and his leg kick, the way i play it just works for the swings:
RH: Betts, Vlad JR, Vlad SR, Rap Dixon(NL)
LH: Jolt Max Muncy, Harper, Posada, Jared Duran, Buck Leonard(NL)These are my 'dont worry about me' swings. I sit heavy in and i know the hand eye will do the rest on the soft stuff away.
